    wouldve been a lot cooler if there was a way to have the movie release on the same date everywhere bc apparently its coming out on august 9th but here in germany we have to wait 2 more weeks. knowing the BL community it'll be practically impossible to avoid spoilers. thanks lionsgate. for once i am interested in watching a movie and ill be getting it spoiled all over social media bc of that time gap. fantastic. briliant. absolutely definitely not frustrating in the slightest

      @@cram2979 sure. Feel free to not take it seriously. For you it's just a game. Now I'll go back to the conversation I was having as an obsessive fan of the game franchise and avid gamer in general. My feelings are going to be much more intense. I can honestly say I'm not the only one either. It would be aimed for my demographic technically tho I kinda don't know what demographic this particular take is going to appeal to. But it's as odd a choice in character relationships as it was to make Uncle Fester Morticia's brother in law in the films when in the show he's her uncle and not related to Gomez at all. Why do Atlas and make Tina his daughter when doing a film adaptation of handsome Jack and Angel? And when she appears in their heads she's cell shaded instead switching how it was in the games where it was live action and Angel was played by a live actor. Or google borderlands cosplay and have the movie look like that! That would've been one of a kind, and probably cheaper too. And it looks fantastic.

      @@rampagingshark If you knew anything about this film, you would know it has nothing to do with the games, the games and the film are in a way their own universe

    • @rampagingshark
      @rampagingshark 2 місяці тому +4

      @@jasonford1410 I am aware of what Randy and Eli have said. If you were paying attention, my point is that Hollywood has repeatedly made this particular mistake for years. Game to film adaptations were a niche genre because they rarely ever worked. Because they were always "adapted" to be live action. That's why I gave, as example, the show Fallout and how it managed to do a straight from game to live action adaptation without any issues and it turned out so well that I heard of other game to film adaptations were green lit and are in the works. Not saying Fallout was the first but it was the first in my opinion true to the original franchise as I've ever seen a show or film do. And it looked great, it was exciting, and it appealed to a wide range of people. Non gamers got interested in the games and gamers loved seeing recognizable things. Otherwise why hijack the franchise name if you're not even going to relate your film to it. The movie should feel like it belongs in the borderlands universe. That's just how this genre works. But people are too stubborn to try anything new anymore.

    If Eli Roth and Ariana Greenblatt are both planning on doing a Tiny Tina spin-off (probably based on Tiny Tina’s Wonderland) , then I think Ari should return as the savage demolition expert (if they’re both interested and decide to write the scripts and produce the spin-off).
    Tiny Tina was actually born in Pandora and can’t really open the vault. That’s what I heard. Yes, I never played the game before because I’m not much of a gamer.
    This time, please make it right by giving the spin-off film a R-rated and probably give it a 2hrs run-time if needed.

    Well now we know what it was like behind the scenes of making the movie! Also more of the cast has been revealed! And wow, this has been in the works for 3 years, this will definitely be worth it. Even if things aren't 100% accurate to the games, because you know, IT'S A FILM ADAPTATION.
    And to everyone still doing this, stop saying the movie will be bad and blaming everything on Avi Arad and Ari Arad, just because they produced Uncharted (2022) doesn't mean the movie will be bad. There are actually many people who liked Uncharted, myself included. Wait until you actually see the movie before you give your final thoughts.

    • @rampagingshark
      @rampagingshark 2 місяці тому +1

      Let me direct you to a neat show called Fallout. It stayed true to the game details and lore and it was widely successful. Filmmakers need to stop thinking they're good enough to rewrite games to be their own version and expect gamers to enjoy it. If they did a film based on let's say borderlands 2 with maybe references to borderlands 1 I GUARANTEE it would be a box office smash hit. They took characters they felt were the most marketable and smashed them together into a non sensible story. TANNIS does NOT have fashion sense!!!!!!

    • @Th0m4s575
      @Th0m4s575 2 місяці тому +1

      @@rampagingshark Well here's the thing, video game movies and video game shows are a way of entertainment, whether you're a long time fan or a newcomer on that particular game series. In order to appeal to everyone, certain changes are required in order to make the story work. Imagine if you watched a video game movie in which the story was copied completely from the game 100%, in which you'd be able to predict everything that happens. That wouldn't work for long time fans since it would be too boring.
      Let me use Uncharted (2022) as an example. Imagine if that movie was just Nate and Sullivan going a worldwide adventure finding a lost treasure and then they encounter one of the antagonists from the games and then along the way also include the story of Nate's brother Sam and what happened to him or whatever. It'd probably be an entertaining movie for some newcomers, but my point is they didn't do that. They actually crafted a story set in the Uncharted universe with some references and easter eggs that longtime fans can appreciate, while also appealing to people who aren't fans of Uncharted or if you've never heard of the Uncharted series. It starts out with a concept that remains relevant throughout the story that ties with each scene which makes it so it can be approached by long time fans AND newcomers.
      However then there are some video game movies that just don't do that. Examples include the 2023 video game movies, The Super Mario Bros. Movie & Five Nights At Freddy's. The visuals are great, but the story and pacing just go all over the place and sometimes certain scenes are just left unresolved. Sometimes things are included in the movie that aren't relevant to the plot, or they just don't make any sense.
      So my point is, don't expect the characters to look and act exactly like they do in the game, and also don't expect the story to be exactly like it is the game either. Changes are necessary when it comes to video game movies and video game shows, otherwise the project would just be an exact replica of the game.

    • @rampagingshark
      @rampagingshark 2 місяці тому +1

      @@Th0m4s575 I disagree whole heartedly but I genuinely believe you believe in what you're saying as most Hollywood works and thinks like that. I can only refer back to Fallout series because so far it's been the best game to movie/show adaptation I have ever seen. It's an original story and yet feels like it's straight out of that universe. People who never played the game before, suddenly found interest in the games after watching the show. Gamers of the franchise were losing their minds seeing live actors using stimpacks, wearing the exact garments only with better materials, and characters that were true to the spirit of the games. They 3d printed props made from the games original mesh designs for in game props. The soundtrack was the exact same songs from the game as well. Again it was widely successful.
      Thing is gamers are not typical. If you're going to take something from the gaming universe and manage to replicate it to live actors, I don't know anyone who would look at it and think "oh that's predictable I totally know what's going to happen this is so stupid and boring". Instead what we would think as viewers is how many things they got correct out of everything they took from the games and what was adapted appropriately for the screen without having changed too much of the Canon material. They're being tested by gamers who are going to view their content. If the movie was about 4 volt hunters who traveled together to Pandora to team up and try to open a vault and manage to get thrown under the bus by handsome Jack and had an entire story as if it was from the actual game itself people would be flocking to the theaters. I would LOVE to see my favorite characters and moments from the game series it's TRYING to commandeer in live action played by real people with real props. The predictability is not an important factor. At all. If you see a movie once I wanna bank if you liked it you'd watch it again. I would probably have bought more than one ticket to see Borderlands based on the game I played when I was younger. Years from now, just like the 90s Mario Brothers movie to 2023 super Mario movie with Chris Pratt, this Borderlands is going to be this franchises 90s Mario Brothers where a real lover of the game and franchise is going to film a reboot and do it properly and this movie is gonna be the joke everybody talks about. Not to mention Ariana Greenblatt not being a fan of the franchise and only took the job and designed her character after Harley Quinn to get the attention of Margot Robbie to land the role in Barbie. That pissed me off when she admitted that.

    • @Th0m4s575
      @Th0m4s575 2 місяці тому +1

      @@rampagingshark Yeah that's another good point too, sometimes actors/voice actors don't know about the story that's in the game since sometimes they're told not the play the game for a more emotional or surprising performance without knowing what's in the game, or they just don't care about the game at all. Sometimes this trick lands for some movies/shows, however of course it mostly lands the opposite way. The trick is to tell a completely original story for newcomers/haters, while also appealing the lore that's put in the game for long time fans of said game. Like I said before, sometimes change is necessary when you're adapting something, and not everything needs to be 100% like it is in the game, there just needs to be a perfect balance, not too much on one side, and not too much on the other.
      At least to me, I know most people probably don't think this, but that's just what I believe.

    Im not going to watch because this is clearly gonna be an awful stain on the franchise. It shouldn't be a kids film. We've been playing borderlands for 15 years, we're about 30 years old now. The comedy bits ive seen are really cringe and the visuals look like a 90s live action/cgi hybrid (like space jam or who framed roger rabbit) only cheaper and way over saturated. At least the original art style they had was unique and pretty cool. I know the film was panned in its original form, but i really can't see that what they release is gonna be better.
