My elk hunting buddy has become my best friend. We met when my dad took me on a guided hunt for a college grad present. We met because his dad was my guide. We were skunked but I got something even better: an invite back on public land. 6 years later we spend a week every September together and 51 weeks talking and thinking about it. He has taught me everything I know about the mountains.
Now that is one amazing sorry! Really awesome that you both spend time in September hunting to this day. Love hearing that. Thanks for sharing and appreciate you watching the film.
Chris, you held that bow back for an eternity! I had to go back and see how long, 1 min and 15 secs!
Hahahaha I love how the camera goes up into the trees as if the elk was up there XD
I was freehanding the camera, and things happened extremely quickly, and the bull was working out to our left, and as it did, I kept getting more and more twisted. When he released, my body was facing the opposite direction with the camera lens facing back behind me. I wasn't going to turn my whole body around, have the bull make me out, and screw up this opportunity for Chris. Once he realeased, I swung my whole body around, trying to locate the bull with my eyes to get the camera back on him; that's why the less-than-ideal shot of the heavens happened. Not my best work, but you have to make a call as a camera operator during hunts sometimes- perfect shot with the camera and risk screwing up the hunt, or get an animal on the ground and not get the angle perfect.
Great hunting partners are tough to find but when you do they are the golden ticket to successful hunts and life long memories!! Killer job boys!!!!
I must have got a little dust in my eye watching this. Can’t beat a good hunting buddy.
Totally agree, hunting buddies are golden! Thanks for watching and best of luck this season.
Trail. Good to see u out doing what u love.. Hunting... What a great film. Way to go buddy.
So much truth in this. A good hunting buddy that doesn't take themselves or the hunt too seriously makes all the difference. While getting a kill is great, that is not the most important part of the hunt.
Good friends are gold in the mountains! Thanks for watching.
if you and your hunting buddy don't bust up laughing about something while you're supposed to be being quiet.... they're not your partner haha.
Of all the famous "UA-camrs" out there, Trail and Corey Jacobsen are two that I would truly enjoy hunting with, over everyone else.
Enjoyed the video. I lost my hunting buddy of 40 years Next month will be a year. Lots of memories , don’t take it for granted.
Its super cool to see this bond between you two; as these are the bonds that we long for as men.
A beautiful bromance!
Great hunt !
Chris and Trail are my favorite from Gohunt. Relatable, relaxed and humble.
The Nev-dog shooting a laser when it was time to let it fly. Good video
Boy! An't that the truth. I've been hunting by myself since 1968.
Great Video. I think there needs to be a buddy cop movie with these two
Hunting partners are everything when it comes to ups and downs before, during, and after the hunt. Even keel is the way to go. Half glass full. Great video! thanks for sharing your adventures with us. 👍🏻😃
Awesome film, guys! Trail and Chris make a great team and I really enjoy watching them hunt together. Congrats on the bull, Chris!
Thanks for watching! They are a great team in the mountains. Can't wait to see how your season goes.
True friends will work, play, and may differ from time to time, but will always stick together. It's a true bond that can't be broken. You may go your separate ways but that bond will not be broken. As far as I'm concerned. 😊
Great job guys. I can honestly say I know maybe two people then hunt as hard as I do and they both live elsewhere so every season I’m on my own. It’s special what you have don’t ever take that for granted!!
Great video of a memorable hunt! Way to put in the work to earn the reward. What are those quivers you guys are using?
Looks like they are tight spot quivers, but not sure how they have them rigged up. I would love to know though, looks like an awesome way to go.
Just awesome! Great teamwork, refreshing to watch real elk hunting!
I got FIRED UP when Neville's bull came in! Great video guys, only a couple weeks left til September!
Great video! Thank you for sharing these special moments
Appreciate you watching! Hope you have a great season.
Man great hunt sure wish the camera man was in a better position but great guys great shot congrats!
me too! I was kind of pinned down and couldn't move and I was all twisted up with the camera facing behind me when he released.
I hunt 30 days out of September or until I tag out on everything. I will maybe hunt one day with someone out of the month. Having a partnership like Trail and Chris truly is fun to watch!
The set up at 11 minutes - we got a great/ in focus view of your elbow
This was an amazing video. Have people I hunt with but no serious hunting buddy when it comes to big game.
Thanks for taking us along.
Watching this while on the treadmill with 70lb on my back. Only a few more weeks LFG!!
Great hunt guys!
I always enjoy the videos you guys put out. Having a good friend to hunt with is hard to find. Great job guys.
Thank you for the kind words! Appreciate you watching.
I'm a very caustic guy, due to certain experiences I've had with the judicial system. This subject about common ground touches my heart more than most people. These two guys represent the positive on a very important subject. This subject is called loyalty and fucking commitment. Let these two men prosper and experience abundance in life. Be the best mother fucking friend you can be and don't ever snitch on your partners!
Does Trail sweat?! That hat looks brand new, mine looks 4 years old after the second day hunting haha. Great video guys! I'm still looking for a good elk partner.
Fantastic film as always!! Keep them coming
Love the video guys! Keep up the great content!
Trail is the goat!
I was wanting to know what attachment you guys were running for your quivers on your hipbelts or on your backpacks? I like the set-up but cannot find it online. Thanks for any info you can share! Great video as always!!
That would drive me nuts all that great footage and it goes behind a giant tree at the shot!
Yes, yes it is.
Good job. Congratulations
Well lookie here!!!!! :)
Awesome video guys! Great shot!
Love it. Wish I could join y’all on one of these in the future
Thanks for watching! It's hard to beat September. We do have a chance for that to happen on our Mexico Coues deer hunt giveaway: join.gohunt.com/mexicoues/
@@GOHUNT already entered! Fingers crossed
@@andrewnelson7574 we are pulling for you!!
Great story!
It would be an amazing and grateful opportunity to hunt with you guys at some point.
Awesome video guys way to stick to the grind! Finding a great elk hunting partner that’ll follow you into those crappy places is like winning the lottery. My buddy says it’s easier to find a good wife than a good elk hunting partner 😅
Trail, what cow call are you using? It sounds great!! Awesome footage!
great hunt boys!
This is why having a sibling be your hunting partner can be the best but they also need to be as into hunting is you are which is where my problem lies. So I run solo on some tougher archery hunts mostly lol
My arms were shaking for you Neville! That hole was legit
Hey Trail/Neville,
What are you guys using to keep your quiver on your hip and off your bows?
Nvm. Total peep. Thanks
@@TruffulaSteve It is a really great option when you don't want a quiver attached to your bow. Simple and effective.
Say more plz @@GOHUNT
So we live in whitetail country and it’s usually family members my cousin and I been hunting together first it was me and him then kids came along now the kids hunt with us when they can but otherwise it’s me and my cousin and my gosh the stories we have ✌🏻👍🇺🇸
What is the attachment Trail is using to attach his quiver to his belt?
I did some googling, it looks like a Total Peep Hip Quiver Support
They are using a quiver attachement made by Total Peep. It allows you to attach your quiver to the bracket. Slick system for sure!
@@GOHUNT why would you not want your quiver attached to your bow is my question? Wouldn’t keeping your quiver attached to the bow add weight that would quiet your bow down on the shot, allow you to easier get a second arrow for a follow up shot and make it easier and safer to carry through the thick bushes like in that first scene so you could see the arrows? Also iff you went in for a stalk without your pack you wouldn’t have something else to carry. Just wondering the practicality of this method.
@@GOHUNTAlso wouldn't it help with the balance of your bow so maybe you wouldnt need those back stabalizers?
Great video, you guys really represent the hunt in a positive way.
A little bittersweet maybe. I’m a NM native and these tags are just a thing of the past. Was telling my hunting buddies, way things are, we’ve probably got 2 maybe 3 NM hunts left.
Looks like you guys were using mech heads. Sevr? Obviously it killed the elk but I’m wondering about the blood trail? Pass through? Shot distance? I bought some of those but haven’t had the guts to shoot ‘em at anything bigger than a javelina.
Thanks for watching man!
Yeah, I was shooting the Sevr 1.5 and it worked great! Almost had a complete pass-through at 40 yards. The blood trail was decent, he only ran about 50 yards before tipping over so there wasn't too long of a blood trail to track.
Good to hear, thanks. Looking forward to this years hunting films.
How did you attach your tight spot to your hip?
That system is made by Total Peep and is a Hip Quiver Support mount that allows you to attach a quiver to your hip. So they are able to attach their Tight Spot to that bracket, that then can be places around your belt. Super awesome setup!
Sweet! Thank you!
What quivers do you use? Do they attach to your frame pack ?
Great question. The hip quiver mount is made by Total Peep and Chris and Trail use it attached to the belt on their pants. It then allows you to take your quiver (in this case they were using a Tight Spot quiver) and attach your quiver mount to the Total Peep. You can then swap back and forth on a hunt when using the Tight Spot, meaning you could have it on the hip or losen the quick release lever and place it on the bow.
That's sweet
What quiver carry set up are you two running?
It's made by Total Peep. It allows you to still use your quiver and attach it to the bracket, and then the bracket is placed on your belt or pack. Hope you had a great weekend!
Such a great video. Definitely felt this one and stoked for my upcoming hunt. That said, im uncomfortable with how you say genuine. You put the wrong emPHASis on the wrong syllAble
Haha, actually I agree with you after I listened to it back. Kinda bothered me as well :)
haha, that's a good ol' southern Utah accent for ya.
How are you connecting the quiver to your waist like that? Is there a specific product or just some sort of carabiner rig?
It's a TightSpot 5 arrow quiver with a Total Peep hip quiver attachment.
@@trailkreitzer9163 thank you! GoHunt should carry those in the future!
Trail and Neville, I'm intrigued by your quiver set up. Are you just wearing it on your belt or do you have some sort of clip/other set up for that.
Hi there, it's a TightSpot 5 arrow quiver with a Total Peep hip quiver attachment. You just run your belt through it, works quite well if you do not want to carry the quiver on the side of your bow.
What hip quiver set up are you using?
How do you attach your quiver to your belt like that?
Hey Trail, what were you and Chris using to attach your quivers to your hips? I dislike shooting my bow with a quiver on.
Hi there, it's a tightspot 5 arrow quiver on a Total Peep hip quiver attachment. Works pretty well for folks not wanting to carry the quiver on the side of the bow. Thanks for watching!
Great show fellas, what hip quiver was Trail using?
After some googling, it appears to be a Total Peep Hip Quiver Support
That is correct. It's made by Total Peep and is a Hip Quiver Support mount that allows you to attach a quiver to your hip.
Great video!! Gives me inspiration to visit the west. I am looking into upgrading my old mathews switchback xt. Do you recommend the 33" or 29" ata bows and why ?
What is that hip quiver setup?
It's an attachment made by Total Peep. It allows you to attach your current quiver to a bracket and then place it on your belt.
What backpacks were y’all using?
Trail used a Stone Glacier 5900 and Neville used a Stone Glacier Sky Archery 6400.
how are you attaching those tight spot quivers to your hip??
It's by using a product made by Total Peep. A really slick way to take your existing quiver and attach it to a bracket that goes on your belt.
i’m wanting to get into bow hunt for this years deer season what’s a good beginners compound bow
Go to your local bow shop and have them fit you to a bow.... Shoot as many of them as you can, also the used bows now a days are a fantastic way to get a really really good bow for way less than a new one. Good luck to ya, I hope you find one that just screams take he home.
This is in my home state of New Mexico USA. We love chasing elk we will be after them in October
Best of luck this upcoming hunting season! Take a bunch of photos and let us know how it goes.
@GOHUNT thank you I definitely will
Make the softie hat in blaze orange!!!!
How is your quiver attached to your packs? I love the idea of not having my quiver on my bow! I'd really like to try that.
Neville has his attached to the hip belt of his pack, I attach mine to my normal belt on my pants. It's a TightSpot 5 arrow quiver with a Total Peep hip quiver attachment.
fire the camera man!!! LOL
what attachments did you use for the Tight Spot quiver?
Hi there, it's a TightSpot 5 arrow quiver mounted on a Total Peep Hip quiver attachment.
whats the side quiver mount they use?
TightSpot 5 arrow quiver mounted with a Total Peep hip quiver attachment.
What’s the hip quiver mount you guys use for your tight spot?
It’s a Total Peep Hip Quiver. Tight spot mounts directly to it. Pretty slick setup
A long list of love stories 😢. Let’s get back to hunting
what are Trail and Neville using to hang their quivers off of their belts.
Hi there, it's a Total Peep hip quiver attachment with a TightSpot 5 arrow quiver.
Will there be a gear load out on this video?
We have done pack dumps prior to hunts in past years, you can find those on our UA-cam channel. We will also be doing new ones for the upcoming season in the next couple weeks. Hope those help, all the best and good luck this fall!
Thanks Trail, good luck this year!
Is that a hip mount your tight spot that your both using?
Yes, it's a TightSpot five arrow quiver mounted on a Total Peep hip quiver attachment. Works pretty well for folks that don't like the hunting or the feeling of shooting with a quiver attached to the side of the bow.
@trailkreitzer9163 thanks for the info. I'd definitely be interested in this type of setup.
Hello-Curious about your clothing. Do you feel it is not that critical to wear full camo for elk? I guess I have become brainwashed by the marketing hype that I need to be in full camo. Would enjoy to hear your thoughts on the subject. Thank you
Hi there, in my opinion it may not be as important as it has been made out to be. In terms of an elks senses, I'd suggest that scent is number one, then sight, and then hearing. When I say sight, I think the most critical element is any type of movement. They seem to pick up on movement quickly regardless of what you are wearing. I think it's more critical to remain relatively motionless and move slowly when you can. When a bulls comes in to a call, he's looking for an elk and his drive to pass on his genes probably outweighs his sense of awareness at times. In saying that, is camo a bad idea? I would say no, I think it can help break up your outline. It's possible it could buy you a split second or a second look back. If I am hunting alone or I am out in front shooting, I almost always wear a camo top. Long of it, I would not say camo is critical for elk hunting..but it could help a little in some situations.
This flim felt like Neville's gohunt swan song.
Hahaha!!! Neville is such a gem.
@GOHUNT Tell us more about your quiver set up rationale.
Hi there, rationale..a quiver full of arrows on the side of the bow adds weight where I don't necessarily want it and is more finicky in the wind with all the added surface area. A hip quiver attachment works pretty well and I haven't had an issue with it being slower to load. The only real issues perhaps are making sure you rotate it up when you sit into a hillside so that you don't stick your nocks into the dirt. Beyond that, it's been my preference. Hope that helps some, all the best and good luck this fall!
Those dang chimpunks always making noise. At least you didnt have squirrels dropping pine cones on your head.
Do you guys not worry about bears getting to the meat with it hung low to the ground?
Hi there, depends somewhat on the area. Grizzly country I would always try to get it higher up off the ground. Even when it's just black bears I would prefer to get it higher in the air but that's what we had and we wanted to just allow it to get some air flow across it. I can't recall seeing any bear sign, although I'm sure there are some in there. We packed it out the following day so we didn't leave it long. Overall, yes..I'd get it higher in the air if possible.
@@trailkreitzer9163 do you guys also hang your food up in a bear hang as well to prevent potential bears at camp?
I live in BC and we are always doing bear hangs etc during earlier hunting seasons
@@marcusv1934 Probably depends on the area and density of bears. If I'm in grizzly country I always hang my food, don't cook in camp, and try to be really mindful of what I have in my pack/tent. If I am hunting in black bear country, I typically don't worry about it too much. I'm also rarely camping in the same spot. When we are elk hunting we are primarily living off our back and moving day after day. Mostly I think it just depends on the situation and location. In your scenario I think I'd always be hanging my food and taking steps to avoid conflict.
Cameraman had one job and blew it!! Trees instead of the elk! Nice work! 🤦🏻♂️🙄🤣
All that work and the camera guy doesn't get the shot on video 😮
Good hunt but you need a better camera man…
A hunting partner and I "broke up"....there was too many incompatibilities. It's actually pretty depressing. We had very similar styles but too much drama, maybe selfishness on both of our parts...sounds funny, we are both alpha males, and it got in the way
Time to change up the vocabulary a little bit. Contact left, contact right. Less confusion
Great vid, but whoever does the CC really needs to get their s**t together
Yeah those are auto-generated by UA-cam unfortunately.
Buenas noches desde argentina ciudad de mar del plata, imperdonable, cobarde, te gusta que los animales sufran eso no es cazar, en dónde trabajo atiendo muchos tipos como vos lamentablemente 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What is trail using for his quiver mount to his belt?
Cameraman crapped the bed at the moment of truth 🙄
