In social situations with catty women, I’ve found laughter effective. Like the insult is so baseless it’s laughable - then describe what they’re doing “trying to take me down a notch won’t work hun”. Works every time if you can muster the Rihanna confidence to do it

A video about Cleopatra would honestly be so great, I love her and her story. Even though her whole thing with Marc Antony happened, it's never taken away from the powerful footprint she left in time, I think it does leave a valuable lesson. Thanks for this video, it made me look in the face that I am a softie. Thinking back, I rarely have called people out and I either retreat at the wrong time or just become too emotional without a leg to stand on. What I love about all your videos is the fact that you do not sugarcoat anything and that's often what I need to hear, and it helps me put parts of me I don't want activated to rest, so that my strengths can come out to play. I dealt recently with two now ex-best friends who were catty in a way and actually listening to your statement on the easy manipulation of men made me see how I myself could get that way, so I'm taking the steps to step up the strengths and bring the weaknesses down. Also, I heavily relate to being the only one in school group projects to do the work, that was me all of high school.

My coworkers get so offended bc I don’t speak much at work. I’m literally working. 🤦🏽♀️ and got even more offended when I said, “I come here to work. I’m not your friend. When I eventually leave this job I’m going to leave you all behind with it.” 😂
They just want you to talk to them so that they can gain information about you and then use it to make you fail in the future. Keep your personal business to yourself and don’t talk to much to coworkers because most of them have bad intentions.

I remember my first job ever was at a store and the girls that worked there were super catty (not all, but most) and my manager was the meanest, most aggressive person I think I’ve ever met. She was a horrible person and I will never forget. Anytime I met someone nice at work they would end up quitting or wouldn’t get scheduled because of this manager. She seemed to pick on the nicest people and would humiliate you in front of customers if she didn’t like you. It’s been years since I quit but I always wondered what happened to that chick and her loyal band of minions. To this day she is still the worst person/manager I’ve ever had!
Growing up I tended to calling that one friend out in a group and I usually ended up being isolated. Multiple times. You’re right, people are chickens, and mostly inauthentic. Now I just walk away. Keeping my peace.

We had a toxic boss at a place I worked. We all wanted her gone, but admin would not can her. Their response was to send her to some classes. It was not the outcome we needed, so I typed a letter, basically saying the classes won’t give her a personality transplant, we need her gone or give us all a transfer. No one wanted to be the first to sign, so I said, let’s sign it all over like a birthday card. Everyone jumped on. Chicken shit? Maybe a little. Machiavellian? Yes, yes I was. Strength in numbers? Hell yeah.
‼️The biggest factor I've noticed is how old is this woman relative to you.
A toxic older woman is WAY different than one your age or younger, especially if she's old enough to be your mother.
This is going to sound wild, but do NOT (under any circumstances) get close to a woman old enough to be your mother at work when you are new.
Think: why tf does she want to be friends with ~you~. This isnt your direct boos or a mentor, which is different because a mentor is distant from you - a mentor will guide you and has existing superiority over you, it isnt the same, don't get them confused. Your boss wants you to suceed in your job, they likely hired you.
Friends/under her wing: The answer is not to look out for you, it's to manipulate and control you and weaponize you against something/someone. I'm talking mid-40s to mid-50s if you're a fresh grad - she does not want what's best for you. That doesn't mean she's mean or a bad person, but there is no reason to be your friend logically. This is Especially if you are professionally "superior" to her (she's an admin or lower ranked position).
Watch the bosses in the office and the men in the office too and how they react to her, that will say a lot about the situation.
Spreading the knowledge because I have seen / been the bright-eyed, eager worker that these snakes love. They will come for you and it wont be good for your mental health and career. Be polite and distant from your coworkers.

Oh I know about letting toxic mean girls go. I won't go into the 20+yrs of friendship I had surgery and was still doing work for one and she oops! Sent me a vile email that was full of them bashing me. So disgusting that I called them and said "Don't ever contact me again and if you EVER see me or one of my family members,you better cross the street "

Oooh girl I have a similar story with a friend if mine. Her 'best friend' contacted me to tell me all the vile things she was saying about me. Chatecter assinating me ect. I told her if I ever saw her I would gutter stomp her and she's been quiet ever since.

Love that you mentioned our strengths don’t always have to be overt. I work largely with men, remotely and in the field. I used to be nervous meeting new people out in the field because I could sense they weren’t sure of me or my knowledge based on my immediate appearance. So I weaponize charm to my advantage. I’m never going to be cutthroat, but I do know that I can disarm people with my genuine kindness followed by laying down facts and expectations with confidence. I know that if I always come prepared with my ducks in a row and ass covered, that nothing anyone says can shake me.
It’s an art and I honestly get such a kick out it. I no longer get nervous, rather I get amped because it never fails. I found my niche on how to work with people I don’t like and I’m sticking to it lol

Loved so much of this. Agree that while I adore women and am a girlie girl, working with certain women can be a challenge. As far as Christine Quinn, I wish she hadn’t bagged a rich husband. She no longer fears breaking “the rules” of the Hollywood game. Would have enjoyed having her actually be part of the series.

My coworkers are not catty,they are toxic. I don't know how you knew about this! I have dealt with this 2.5 years. I am not an angel but the poison is spewing. I am at a breaking point with all of it .
I work as a server at a assisted nursing home. And there's 2 girls that won't gossip about the residents and omg me. It's gets annoying 🙄😒. Its obvious when I ever make or do something she talks about I've never had that problem before
Whenever I was in that situation, my attitude was I’ll wait out the bitches, because they won’t stay long. It was a strangely comforting thought and always proved true. When we got to a place where everyone was a delight, I would really savor it because it is as rare as a solar eclipse.
Maybe if u can change the workplace or confort them to make them change their attitude. Perhaps start quiely looking for a new job so you will have one when you quit. I don't know if staying is worth it unless something is done. That toxicity is not good place to be half the time.
@@merrywalsh2809 look I'm also doing dishwasher and I'm going to school. I'm work 3 days fri, sat and Sundays. I'm a server and I do dishwashing. I've made mistakes like forgetting something or yeah I forget to wash the cups and I've seen her talk to the other servers about me. She's not doing the dishes she's not volunteering. I am. I'm doing dishes for memory care and assisted living and the pot and the pans that the chefs cook on and she's always gossiping about me.

I wish I had Shallon videos 15 years ago because when I went on maternity leave, the person who my manager hired to replace me while I was on leave was her husband and her friend and she promoted this lady even though she didn't have Oil and Gas experience. In the end the company closed few years after and it was bought by a new company and my manager recommended this friend of hers and she up to this day has a permanent job!. I still haven't found stable job mostly contract being offered.
I didn't know it was against the law to be denied a promotion whilst on maternity leave. OR I should have taken that manager to.court. my manager was jealous of me how all the employees preferred me over her..

My most evil boss was a woman, and she watched me cry -I am not a crier at all, for 20 minutes because she would overwork me to weekly panic attacks and I had to confront her. She got fired sometime after that. I also had a horrible coworker (at another job) who shit-talked my way out of the office in months and fake cried for half an hour (!) to our manager saying I was mean to her. I didn't have a personal relationship with her, everything I said and did was professional and I never came close to disrespect. You are so fucking right
I started a new job and I put in a lot of effort to get promoted, because I already had a lot of experience in the field. Finally I got promoted, but this led to me being hated by my coworkers (some of them had been in the company before I even joined, so they found this unfair, even though I had more years of experience then they did). It's very frustrating and difficult to spend 8/ day there. But for the time being, I cannot leave: I want to learn more within my new role, so I have more experience and better opportunities in the future. But until then, I want to make each day easier for me. Thank you, Shallon, I will definitely use these tips!

I feel like you should be following the Coleen Rooney v Rebekah Vardy case in the Uk that is happening right now.
