Yes, you did understand righth. By splitting into groups of 3,2 and 1 stitches I mean this: for example, you have 21sts, divide by 3 = 7. Imagine there are 3 groups of 7 stitches. Splitting into 3,2 and 1 would be similar: 4-3-2-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1. OR this way also works: 3-3-2-2-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1. As you see you can adjust numbers, add (or take) remainder between the groups. And after that, yes, decrease accordingly. Hope that makes sense

Hi, you mean 8 stitches for shoulder seam? After neckline calculation I saw that 8 stitches would be left for shoulder. Divided remaining STS 3 2 1 so the decrease line is smooth, gradual.

I am still a beginner. Can you show me what the neckline pattern instructions would look like for a stockinette shirt? I’m not ready to understand it within a lace pattern shirt. I’m still too new for that. Any help would be appreciated.

I want to do a different collar and I was wondering if I can cast off the picked up stitches right after picking them up, will it look nice? or should i go back in the next round to cast them off?
I would say go back in the next round and cast them off. But you can try either way and see how you like the looks. Usually some sort of edging needs to be done. In my case i did simple, just a few stockinette rows and cast off. I always try on a swatch and see. Same techniques in different yarns look different. I needed as plain as it can be.

Keeping to the pattern means decrease as calculated (planned). This example means leave 12 unworked. Then decrease 4 - 2 - 2-1-1-1-1
