EXCELLENT OVERALL VIDEO!!! a lot of great information here, thanks for taking the time and woah! .99 cent a pack huh? that would most definitely bring players in however i am not big fan of Soulbound cards yet but if that's what we have to do, it cant hurt to try it out
Wow is all I have to say. With the prices involved to get up and running in the game, your breakdown sounds logical. I don't like the idea for paying for more soulbound cards though. Thanks.
Great analysis…. Logical …. But there is one thing…. Team and whales dont use logic much. They stil think there are cards worth 1k$!!! Logic dont live in SPL.
Love it! I was getting heat for suggesting $2 packs but you went all the way to $1! I dont like the SB suggestion, but accessibility at a reasonable price point is key! I also like unlimited packs for a set period of time. Thanks for the video!
Like the $1 price suggestion to open the game to more players but would definitely stay away from being soulbound. Reward cards can stay soulbound to prevent farming but packs I purchase with my own money should never be soulbound. Another suggestion could be to sell complete set based on their level at a set price, i.e. Bronze level deck at $$, Silver $$$, etc. You would pay a bit more than going through the pack route but you get all cards maxed to the level you choose right off the bat.
Good video. A few points: 1. If new players buy a lot of packs they would get GFs they could sell off to get extra cards / missing BCX 2. Buying RF directly should be cheaper than buying packs without GF chance and once they sell GFs they might start buying the missing RFs. Especially if they are opening packs without potions 3. For a maxed Diamond deck, you can get pretty close to a maxed deck with 2,000 packs if you sell off the GFs and gradually add the missing BCX. At current DEC prices that is $5,760, at peg this is $8,000. 4. We also have the starter decks which would allow players to get maxed bronze common & rare cards for around $200, which they could do over time. They could also buy the odd epic & legendary bcx to build up their decks as an when. 5. The new approach to leagues means that players will not look at levels the same way, so long as they have levelled up summoners. New players might be more likely to build up specific cards they find useful. When I first started playing I focussed on only 3 splinters for example. Both approaches radically reduce the level of initial investment needed 6. So at 990 DEC per pack given that DEC will often be a little from peg (say $0.95/1000) the price for 2,000 packs would be $1,900 for a maxed Diamond deck 7. The rising price idea tends to result in front loaded sales more than ever as the utility of cards dropped over time as their playable time in modern reduces and their utility for conflicts airdrop cards. 8. I agree, that setting a max pack limit may seem odd, especially when so many have ended up in the DAO. I think the idea was to create a rush of demand towards the end of the sale, which could work in the context of a rapidly growing players base with some big new buyers. OG whales would just buy early to maximise the rewards from those cards. If the DAO had 10% of those sold that would seem more reasonable. 9. I would be concerned about minimum gross sales targets not being achieved at 990 DEC packs. This is relying on new players arriving in large numbers and spending hard. Not impossible, but do we want to bet the house on that? 10. 990 DEC packs would hit RB values hard, scarcity would help, but with the new set at 1/4 the cost that has to impact from what could be otherwise
new players will have to understand how to swap, trade and earn before even trading their NFTs in the market, it takes time so the priority is to have them play first with a decent battle deck and this is where starter packs come in play because now we are going to have this option available to level up cards quickly. -another option : only accept Credits for this upcoming packs. ?? -remember Splinterlands assets are only valuable if they keep the lights on otherwise the Nfts will be worthless, with that being said is better to earn $$$ of sales than burning packs for $0 dollars. -as a consumer overall :Every time i go to liquidation stores i set a budget of $200 and guess what happens since prices are slashed over 75-85% off i tend to go over budget every time. EVERYONE loves BARGINS!!!!
I could get on board with the 1 or 2 $ unlocked. I personally came to this game, because of the ownership of cards. I really dislike the changes away from that over the last year or two. For me moving to all soulbound assets is just like any old video game.
That is ludacris, USD 800 does not even give you a full bronze set! How does the team think this game will take off??? What does a max bronze deck give as daily earnings? 10 SPS? 10cents per day is 3650 cents or 36.50 USD (if SPS was 1 cent per) for a 800 USD investment. Absolutely out of proportion!!!!!! I guess this is true for all leagues. If we go with 4 USD per pack, we are doomed.
The vid assumes that potions are not using in packs and that GF cards are not sold of to fill missing BCX. Cards on the secondary would be way cheaper. The new 5K DEC starter pack get people started for much cheaper. New players can also start by focusing on a few elements like I did originally
To have pack cards be soulbound is ludacris. I dont care if You are not planning on selling yours because other people have that as a consideration. Imagine opening packs and you get several gf tofus... on top of your maxed tofu...but its soulbound so you cant sell it.
If new player affordably and $1 packs are the priority for them, how about we allow people to play Wild manually without the season pass, whilst keeping it for bots? CL packs are available for less than $0.5. They can buy a bronze deck for $10 and a maxed deck for $600, whilst having no negative impact on existing card value, or having to deal with the consequences of releasing many super cheap cards into the ecosystem. What could be better? It would also help give utility to cards that desperately need it. Once they are playing some might look at the higher rewards in Modern and want to play there instead, but by that point that have already learnt the game, know they enjoy it and might be willing to invest more into it as a result
@@pompe72 but then you are creating 2000 Dec per pack which will make the Dec and sps price plummet. They need to eliminate card burning for Dec altogether
@@GatheringtheMagic1984 But you are also spending 4000 dec per pack so the player is "losing" 2000 dec per pack which would go to the team/dao. Plus the dec is locked into the card until the card is burnt, if cards prices are higher than burn value the card won't get burnt. It will also create a higher floor price for the cards which will create more dec being burnt in transactions. It will also create more turnover of packs. Player buys a pack, doesn't like the cards, burns the cards and buys another pack. It's also a sneaky way of lowering the cost of the pack without lowering the price. Card burning is fondamental for collectors, it increases the rarity of the cards.

agree with your pricing except the soulbound part. what happened to web3 ethos of digital ownership?
It's great work you do. I appreciate it ! Cheers ! edit... I typed that 3 mins. before you said, please just apprieciate it. ;)
