+4 handicap here...this is absolutely GENIUS!!! Watch this video over and over again with a club in your hand until it all starts to sink in. This is 75% of what you need to know about the swing in one video! Wish you had made this video years ago and I could've skipped a whole bunch of others.
I've just learned it's a trail arm feel..I've been " hitting at the ball" with my lead arm...I have to turn through with my trail arm... thanks for the great description !
Great video... once you make the golf ball your target its over...all sorts of problems. You have to swing to the real target! Only took me 30 years to find out from great instructors like yourself and Shawn Clement. Ty very much for this great insight!
I think this is my current issue. I have been working on staying centered to improve my ball strike & it worked but my distance dropped. This is a tougher concept for me to achieve
Excellent. One of the main problems people have is that they have never trained position C and have absolutely zero idea what it feels like. If that's your situation, you will only get lucky and find position C every once in a while as a result of your backswing and downswing almost "lucking into" the right motions, if that makes any sense. You should be able to, at the drop of a hat, hold a club and get right into your impact position without having to even think about it.
This acceleration principle is hardest to apply for me on the bunker shot. Instead of accelerating through the ball, I often stop the follow through. Accelerating through is also a good principle for putting too.
If you believe that bunker shot acceleration is a different acceleration than when producing acceleration to hit your driver, than you are in “no man’s land.” Think: Death Valley.
But....isn't acceleration of the clubhead maximized with the slowing down of the body parts from the ground up through impact...so the clubhead whips through impact?
I have seen essentially this same “lame” explanation of acceleration countless times from a myriad of golf instructors. Sure golfers will pay attention to anyone who attempts to explain ACCELERATION because 99% of golfers know they have ZERO ACCELERATION. Not mentioning feeling the weight of the club head throughout the entire swing was an obvious omission from this video. And that is why this video will help no one to learn how to truly accelerate the club head through the ball. Jonathan’s explanation of “hip movement” is all the evidence I need to know that Johnathan himself does not understand how to produce ACCELERATION in the gold swing. File this video under “Same old shit.”

As your swinging to your real target don’t forget to make contact with the ball.
@@lookmil107 read some of your others comments.... such negative vibes. It's obvious your ego is talking, learn to tame it.
Excellent tip. Thanks
Excellent explanation as always, thank you so much, I enjoy all your videos and learning a lot. Keep sending the good stuff 🙌🙌🙌

Great video - thanks so much👍🏻
Great explanation!

Why would you believe emulating one’s static impact position is difficult to achieve? Now go pick up your hat. Unbelievable.

Are you saying you can accelerate the body turn from the last parallel position on the downswing
But....isn't acceleration of the clubhead maximized with the slowing down of the body parts from the ground up through impact...so the clubhead whips through impact?
Yes👍But the problem is that most hobby golfers are braking far too early!
Will this help to stop my fat shots
It will
As they say, “the golf ball just gets in the way of your swing” 🙃
Focus on making a good swing, not trying to hit the ball.
