This song was a song of the bold headed guy, the original has a bluesrock sound over it. The meaning of the programme is just to enjoy the music, nothing more. You are right. You were looking for "beste zangers"(best singers). This is the belgian version, called"liefde voor muziek "(love for music). It's actualy not a contest, rather they sing songs for eachother. Every week it's someone elses turn to receive the favor. Sharon is singing a song from the band "the dinky toys". The bald guy is the singer in this band. Floor Jansen might be a better singer technicaly but sharon puts more soul into her music. That is why i like her beter. You should also check out "in and out of love" , a song she did with armin van buren.
God I love this cover! There are some singers, like Sharon and Simone Simons, where like…when they belt it doesn’t feel like there’s any effort. It feels like they’re just letting their voices *expand* and it’s so mesmerizing. And I’m so in love with this slightly raspy lower register she’s developed through the years. So happy you’re reacting to these performances cuz more people need to know about them! My other favorite song she did on here is Vandaag, so cool to hear her sing in Dutch! Also worth checking out are the other artists’ covering HER songs-one guy does a Dutch version of Paradise and there’s even a reggae cover of Utopia 😂 Don’t know if you’ve heard that song but it’s amazing. Also don’t know how much you’ve heard from her solo album My Indigo, but it’s absolutely worth checking out if you’re on a big Sharon kick rn! That is Coco Jr. from The Dinky Toys and this was his song (emphasis on was because you know). Also funny story Sharon kinda lost a song too in this show. There was a version of Ice Queen that Jasper Steverlinck sang in this show and she liked it so much she took it and she sings that version now with WT. So all in all? Damn good show for a lot of reasons. The whole idea of getting people out of their comfort zone and giving new life to songs? It's bloody brilliant if you ask me 😊
