This feature with the Rockford fosgate amps is really cool. It's a built in clip detector and well worth the try, it was very simple to setup and if it save's the amp and helps people get a more accurate tune from home that is awesome to me
That buzzer box is up under the dash above the gas pedal. I unplugged mine and gave it a nice toss into a lake.
He says he can’t play the setup cd because of possible copyright violations, correct me if I’m wrong, but how would anybody hear it if he unplugged the speakers? Just sayin
So if u remove the bass, treble etc, how ur not clipping when u put it back in? Shouldn't all that remain on? So it will be like u usually have it on the volune?
He could have closed the door to get rid of the buzzing noise.
your worried about a frequency being copyrighted?
LOL,
Setting gains is about voltage matching. For example,if your amplifier has an input sensitivity range from 500mv-4v then the maximum unclipped voltage you'd send into it would be 4v.But let's say your source is only putting out 3v unclipped Then you'd turn the gain from all the way down(4v) to maybe about a quarter clockwise where 3v would be on the dial.Thats what is called voltage matching or unity gain.
Too many people in car audio don't understand gain setting. They think gain knobs are volume controls and they are anything but that.
DAMN. Someone who knows what they are doing. That's refreshing!
For those that don't know, the Punch amps also have LEDs for setting your gains on the output side. This video doesn't tell you that. No need to listen for it audibly when the circuitry will tell you when it's clipping. You can also get a pocket O-SCOPE and verify on the waveforms if you're into the real nerdy shit.
I'm pretty sure the gain knob is to keep the amp from clipping at Max volume. Basically I try to turn the head unit to maximum volume then reduce the gain till it no longer clips. Am I wrong?
Jonathan Grissom yes because the head unit it self has a rms volume and will clip at a certain point usually 75% is safe but ever deck has a diffrent clip point Steve Meade makes a tool I believe to tell a clipping point they are costly just depends how many you do
Nice. Good work!
Here is what I do not get, you set the EQ flat, and if you have a remote bass knob you are supposed to turn it all the way down, but when you are done and you fix your decks EQ and bass know, can't the same max vol now clip?
I would usually tune the amp with out the base knob to set gains then plug it in after gains are set
Set the bass knob max and tune not the other way around
Where can I get a setup disc
I used an oscilloscope with my head unit. I was able to turn head unit all the way up with out clipping. I assume I hook RCA back up it will clip with the light On the amp?
On your CD, I see:
Track 7 " 1khz / 0 dB "
And
Track 11" 1khz / -5 dB "
Both tracks are 1 kHz, but the dB is different, so what is the difference?
Not sure if this comment will get seen considering the vids a year old however, I need to have mine on channel 7 to match the frequency but I am on a touch screen head unit without a CD player? Is there another way of doing this?
GO to the fosgate web site and download the tones in a hard drive
3 year old question and still being looked at.... so, did you figure it out?
As said above download the audio tracks online or use a program on your computer to pull audio tracks off the cd :)
If my head unit doesn’t have aux or CD player can I play the tones using Bluetooth m?
I would do usb stick
@@ghostlyrich wow thank you for the fast reply hahaha, wasn’t too optimistic
First thing I’d do is pick up that cd before you scratch the piss out of it
How are you going to set off copyright material on disk with speaker wires disconnected? Lol
The Buzzing is Copyrighted BTW...JK
The buzzzing.....gonna have a short UA-cam career with vids like this. Come on man.
Seriously, that was ridiculous!
