    Words by G. A. Norton
    Come sweetheart mine
    Don't sit and pine,
    Tell me of the cares that make you feel so blue;
    What have I done?
    Answer me hon'
    Have I ever said an unkind word to you?
    My love is true,
    And just for you
    I'd do almost anything at any time
    Dear when you sigh, or when you cry,
    Something seems to grip this very heart of mine.
    Come to me my melancholy baby,
    Cuddle up and don't be blue;
    All your fears are foolish fancy,
    maybe, you know dear, that I'm in love with you
    Every cloud must have a silver lining,
    Wait until the sun shines through,
    Smile my honey dear, While I kiss away each tear,
    Or else I shall be melancholy too.
    Birds in the trees,
    Whispering breeze,
    Should not fail to lul you into peaceful dreams.
    So tell me why,
    Sadly you sigh
    Sitting at the window where the pale moon beams,
    You shouldn't grieve,
    Try and believe,
    Life is always sun shine when the heart beats true;
    Be of good cheer,
    Smile through your tears.
    When your sad it makes me feel the same as you.

      I cant speak on who first recorded it, i just know he signed with Edison and sang a lot of songs for him that were among the first recorded songs/recording artists. Theyre also in the Edison museum archives if im not mistaken.

    Wonderful! In so many ways. The later versions omit the second intro and instead go right into the chorus again.
    I wonder, did cars have radios in 1915?

    Wasn't familiar with this version or where it came from.
    Thoughtful to also include the lyrics -despite the fact they don't even show up on many platforms, some of us do bother reading all of that.

      @@braysnyder24 Are you aware of the Hobbies Magazine biographical article [on Walter Van Brunt AKA Walter Scanlon] that appeared many years ago, written by Jim Walsh? Walsh provided a detailed article of your ancestor. After 1920, he was better known as Walter Scanlon (he officially changed his name to Scanlon , ca. 1942 although he had been using that name professionally since the 1920s). He was the last pioneer Edison wax cylinder artist to pass (in 1971). had a beautiful tenor voice - early recordings he sounded quite a bit like Billy Murray - who he made many duets with in the late 1920s-early 1930s. @Nicholas Ennos not hardly. He lost most of whatever money he had to his first wife when she sued for divorce because the judge thought him immoral or having left her and living with another woman.
