There is much in the style of chanting that is reminiscent of the Eastern Orthodox Church even though the Sarum Anglican Usage was part of the Western Rite prior to the Latin Tridentine Rite of the Roman Church counter-reformation. The Anglican Church of the Reformation is a descendant of this late medieval Anglican or English Church part of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. The Anglican Church today is divided between the faithful and the unfaithful among the clergy and laity.
I sang in the choir that unforgettable day. It is the Choir of the Church of Our Lady, Lisson Grove in London directed by Claude Crozet. The music is by Sheppard and Tallis.
@John Brev I think it was taken from Nick Sandon’s missal published by Antico Editions. At least we (the choir) sourced the chant there, but I don’t know for sure about the texts reserved for the celebrant and ministers. The Sheppard parts were from the Oxenford Imprint collection of his works. Thanks for your interest.
This was my college at Oxford (also that of Kris Kristofferson and T. S. Elliott). Established 1264 under Henry III. This is an Anglican (Church of England) mass. Besides the RC Church, this is our heritage, too...
This Mass that took place at Oxford was celebrated by the Newman Society, who are Catholics at Oxford. The Celebrant is Father Sean Finnegan (A Catholic Priest). It was the Anglican Leaders like Cranmer who destroyed the Use of Sarum. The True heritage of the English people is to be Catholic, not Protestant.
@@the1cardinalThank you and the Masonic takeover of the Roman Rite Church has imposed Cranmer's mass on us calling it Novus Ordo. I saw the mass book in 1987 in London it had Masonic Symbols and clearly had Cranmer's prayers. This is beautiful.!
