I remember back when I was younger where I had Chatot learn the cries of other Pokemon and having a blast whenever I used Chatter and it sounding like a different Pokemon. Life was so simple back then...

I would've added the rework that Battle Bond got in Gen 9, you can still get a Greninja with the Battle Bond ability but it can't transform anymore, it simply gets a stat boost when it activates. Great video nevertheless!

The thing about Chatot's unique Chatter move...not only is it _truly_ exclusive to him, as it's one of the few moves Smeargle CANNOT Sketch at all, but the devs actually thought about the 'vulgarity' issue and added a filter onto any recordings to make it less clear and more staticky.
Later on, the ability to record was removed altogether, with the move getting a flat confusion chance.
10:00 Genuinely starteled me and got a chuckle with that one, came straight out of left field when talking about Phione of all mons.
I think Phione is the capable of evolving into Manaphy but they probably cut out the evolutionary method on how evolve it to keep other people from obtaining one of their own. I mean, it's strange that manaphy can create a different species of Pokemon that doesn't evolve into it. It's strange and out of place.
It also kinda reminds me of Diancie and how it's supposed to have a connection to Carbink, but other than the 2 having relatively similar designs and the same rock/fairy type combination, the 2 aren't actually connected. This always felt weird to me personally, especially considering that Carbink is said to undergo a sudden mutation to become Diancie, which similar to what you mentioned about how Phione was probably originally planned to be able to evolve into Manaphy, I suspect that it was a similar deal with Carbink and Diancie
@matthewkuscienko4616 the Diancie movie deals with that conundrum well from what I remember, though it's been like 7 years since I last saw it. Another one is the relationship between Kabutops and Genesect, as I don't think they've ever straight up confirmed that it's a modified Kabutops. Maybe if they do end up making a Unova Legends game that shows the original fused form of the Hero Dragon, they'll explore where Genesect actually comes from and how it got it's Bug typing
@Whiteytheripper It's possible that we'll get to see what exactly became Genesect, but whatever it was, I always had my doubts about it being Kabutops personally. In my mind, Kabutops becoming Genesect always felt more like someone trying to fill in the blanks with an already existing Pokemon, even though the 2 don't seem to be that closely related if you ask me. Personally, I'd be more interested in seeing what the original dragon that became Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem was
I think Phione is just what happens when Manaphy breed in warm water. They only breed other Manaphy when they're deep in the ocean, and the cold and pressure causes a Manaphy to form

I always thought the way to stop the Wobuffet lovk is just increase his attack so it outdoes leftovers.
That would be suboptimal though. While Wobbuffet locking with other Wobbuffet was why it would ultimately be banned on Smogon and the like, the optimal stat build for Wobbuffet was always to max out HP and then distribute the rest into defenses. Because Wob v Wob is such a niche scenario and you want to make sure you survive as many hits as possible to use Mirror Coat/Counter when desired or at least last more hits to Encore more often

@@thatrandomguy368 Nope, that wouldn't work. Struggle's recoil does less damage than Wobuffet recovers with Leftovers.
@@toumabyakuya in later gens struggle does 25% of the pokemons hp in recoil so it would out damage leftovers

Something important to note about Wobbuffet in Gen 3, is that was before the change to Struggle. In Gen 4 onwards, Stuggle’s recoil is 25% of the User’s max HP, meaning that without outside help, you’ll be fainting relatively quickly from your own recoil. But in Gen 3, it was a regular recoil move, only doing 25% of its damage done to the user. This meant that in Gen 3, a Wobuffet @ Leftovers mirror match would only end due to timer, while in Gen IV it would actually end from Struggle recoil damage.
Actually since gen4 the recoil damage fom struggle is always 1/4 of the user's health so a Wobbuffet vs Wobuffet battle would never be infinite even if they couldnt switch out to any partner
Yeah, they did multiple things to fix the Wobbuffet issue.
I’ve been trying to grow my Spinda collection but its a problem because I got over 200 of them trapped in BDSP. I can’t have all of them in Home
Didn't they just patch that recently? The only reason Spinda couldn't transfer was because the spot pattern mapping broke between gens, similar to how Legends Arceus broke sizes for mons from previous gens, setting them to a value of 0 instead of randomising it.
The move Chatter actually contains a very unique property in that it cannot be learned by Sketch. I don't want to draw conclusions but I'd love to know what the thought process behind that was.
Phinoe, while it is fine. I can't help but think that it really pales in comparison to exclusive-locked pokemon in today's generations. Needing to get two-three game/DLC/console locked pokemon away from your game for some of the most competitive mons is a lot worse than missing a very large window. Just look at some of the debate around genned mon banning at Worlds.
One mon that I am surprised didn't make this list is Melmetal. Iirc it was pokemon Go exclusive in which there was a ton of hype for going into Sw/Sh. I thought that it would have some serious implications for the VGC scene as a result but it mostly ended up being fine since it was a legendary so it wasn't instantly available for competitive play and by the time it was all the hype had died down.

Seriously I loved the concept of a Pokémon who is just plain evil. None of this “it wasn’t evil it had a bad owner” that’s been done a million times. It gives the Pokémon personality and makes them actual characters.
Remember you get a manphy in Legend Arceus. I totally didn’t time travel to Husui to get one now.
So people after the year of Feburary 21, 2022 still can have them. Just a complex method.

True, but you're intended to own BDSP to discover the method of making it appear in the Canalave Library. You don't get to participate in the nostalgia of the original Pokémon Ranger event or have a chance at getting a shiny one (the Ranger event wasn't even a Wifi event either, it was a password that was single use for the game cartridge, not even erasing your save lets you ever transfer another egg without editing the game data to allow it. Shadows of Almia later did make it a wifi event since people that bought Preowned with the intention of getting Manaphy got screwed)
Phoine should be unbanned along with manaphy, Shaymin, darkrai, and arceus. Because all of them can be obtained in legends arceus without any events.

Ash Greninja shouldnt have been banned during regular sun and moon because the demo was free and obtaining ash greninja was super easy. Its understandable why it was banned during the ultra series though because you need the original sun and moon games to obtain in and you would need pokemon bank to transfer it to the ultra versions.
I kinda feel sorry for Ash-Greninja. Greninja is FINALLY in a Nintendo Switch game (Scarlet and Violet), and It can't transform anymore. Talk about the robbery of the century. I actually wanted to see Greninja transform in a Switch game. And yet there's a picture of Ash-Greninja in Nemona's house dubbed "the Hidden Ninja" or something like that.

An interesting Pokémon not brought up is Unown in sun & moon. It wasn’t banned but was not available during the natdex formats due to being unavailable in the games. Yes you could send one up from an older game but because it could not breed it was impossible to obtain one in the game, note that the battle ready mark was not introduced until sword&shield.
you can also just catch an manaphy in legends arceus with the clue from the library in bdsp and then transfer it to bdsp with pokemon home and let it breed to get phione

@@Candyy248 no and here's why. There are certain pokemon like magikarp or beldum or wobbuffet that can't learn tms. Does magikarp get tera blast? No. I am inclined to believe wobbuffet will not get it either. Even if it did it's offensive stats are so terrible it wouldn't really do anything with it.

Magikarp is a Pokemon made to be bad on purpouse, so again does not count... 😴

fun fact: since ash greninja is always male and is shiny locked in competitive Pokemon always using a non-shiny male greninija is necessary to keep the surprise of weather or not your greninja is using Battle Bond or Protean (greninja's normal ability). as such it is competitively unviable for greninja to be black or female, the more you know.

As a Wobbuffet fan, I hate the fact that is mostly banned.
It's a cool and unique Pokémon who, for once, has a strength based off it's trainer, and not it's stats.
Phione is not the only mythical that is numerus in fact most of them are even Manaphy
I got a few Pro Tips for you since this was pretty bad for many reasons
#1 you have to much repetitive filler, thought 3 min on wobbuffet was a bit to much padding the runtime, but damn having even less to say about phione over 9 minutes, ouch.
#2 You provided incomplete & inaccurate information regarding Battle Bond Greninja by not mentioning it's legal VGC status & rework in Gen 9, the ability is essentially the same now but a little better you get +Spe +Atk +SpA when you KO something with the visual transformation. (Odd that it's legal since the Demo is unavailable legally now as i Pokémon Bank & it's still very cumbersome to obtain, so odd that it's legal for VGC now when you can't even get it via the Ability Patch )
#3 You didn't mention "Every Weird BANNES Pokémon" you left out plenty, you didn't mention the weird Sword & Shield Ban on "Random" High usage pokemon based on usage stats outside the Official VGC rules, when stuff like Rillaboom & hippowdon among with others, just making dominant stuff like Porygon-Z & Dusclops way better since it Avoided the Experimental Ban Hammer. Bit of a failed but intersting piece of history that's completly abscent from this Video that lacks info & have to much filler. Sigh...
You didn't even mention stuff like #4 the Shiny Tapu Koko Incident in Gen 7 When an Offical Event Tapu Koko that should have ben legal was oddly enough banned & the way players found out was when they went to lock thier battle boxes at Regionals such as the one in Malmö.
(#5 A similar thing happened with unnerve Shiny Mewtwo from Singapore in Gen 6 when it couldn't clear the electronic hack checks even tho it was an official pokemon that had to be manually cleared whenever someone used it, since the hack check for the entire year didn't account for future avalible pokemon that the rules would allow, like the Shiny unerve mewtwo Event from Singapore)

a pretty commonly known one is skydrop being banned multiple times for causing glitches in the game in black/white era
in sun/moon era, String Shot, Forest's Curse, Power Trick, or the non-Ghost-type version of Curse were banned for like 1 competitive format bc they caused double game freezes. Tbh almost none of us used the first 3 so we always joke that they were the ones responsible for the ban even though the last in the list triggered it the most
i also vaguely remember sky drop being banned (again) briefly in sun/moon as well for some kind of error but i couldn't find any evidence of this atm whereas the other cases are pretty well documented. All i know is i was Inconvenienced as a sky drop tapu koko enjoyer but i may be misremembering formats
To be honest at this point I think Phione is more notable than Manaphy. Manaphy as a mythical doesn’t really have anything notable about it except that it can be bred and that Phione is an anomaly now

... shouldn't Phione's ban-logic extend to Carbink and Cyclizar? Diancie is effectively a "perfect" Carbink, while Cyclizar is just a modern-day Koraidon/Miraidon, so...
