I started at Nobbys Beach with the harbour breakwater in the background, then Newcastle Beach with Stockton beach in the far background on the other side of the harbour entrance, then Bar Beach, Dixon Park and Merewether Beach situated along one spectacular strip of golden sand, and finally the small Susan Gilmore Beach. The area is popular with paragliding and hang gliding enthusiasts, as well as surfers of course.
