Fading West Through Texas from Houston, through Austin to Fort Stockton

We spend over two days driving West through Texas, stopping in Houston and Austin, then on to the arid plains and plateaus of West Texas near El Paso. We continue our series 30 Days across America after getting caught in traffic leaving New Orleans.
We finally make it to Houston where we book a last minute stay at the Omni. The next day we drive on to Austin and enjoy the tastes of the Sour Duck Market and a quick walk by the river.
From Austin, we head to the Western plains of Texas through towns like Iraan and stop in Fort Stockton for lunch at Bien Venidos for some Mexican food, then a stroll around the historic fort. As the Sun fades from the sky we drive on toward El Paso as we head out of Texas.
