      @Martin he actually lacks confidence, oddly enough. Phil’s most comfortable playing against fans of his because they respect him but against other pros, he doesn’t feel respected and feels the need to constantly remind them and himself about the bracelets and his own name. It’s entertaining to watch for sure but also kinda sad too. One of the few guys who still verbalizes thoughts he should actually be keeping to himself… and it’s great entertainment… 🤣

    • @Messerwon
      @Messerwon 3 роки тому +2

      @Martin haha, it just means he currently holds the most bracelets. I do think he is one of the most bracelet-hungry pros out there, which is why he plays so many bracelet events every year. The vast majority of pros do it for the money and they play the higher buy-in events with smaller fields to maximize their opportunity to win big money while minimizing their time invested. Most of them prefer the side action. We don’t see a lot of Hellmuth success in the high roller events for a reason… He’s probably steaming after reading the comments, yelling to his psychologist wife, “Honey, they don’t think I’m the greatest! Now I’m all steamed up!” 🤣😂

      Probably Negreanu underestimated his heads up skills, going 0-3 against Helmuth. It's almost embarrassing for Negreanu after all the talk pre-match. Perhaps he'll be man enough to admit Helmuth is one of the great heads up players and that he himself is not quite at that level for heads up.

      @@jaredcarrick3468 Most of what you said is verifiably false. BUT over a small sample size, sit and go format like this, trying to play as close to pure GTO as possible gives you a small fraction of the edge that it would over a larger (10s of thousands of hands) sample size. Table reads (Phil's white magic) and correct exploitative play are more important. The most important factor, though, is luck. You have to get lucky even when playing GTO, because it wants you to make certain plays a certain percentage of the time.

      @Trap Queen's Lawyer Incorrect, he hasn't incorporated lots of GTO into the matches with Hellmuth. GTO is only useful if you understand it at a very, very deep level. Polk vs Hellmuth HU, 25k hands online, who would you pick? Polk would crush him.

    • @josheisert8380
      @josheisert8380 3 роки тому +3

      @@aemondmommasboy78 EXACTLY. Way to much over thinking. Especially with hands to bluff with because of blockers. They have taken a simple 52 card game with missing information and try to act like it's rocket science. Like Helmuth recently said. These kids these days think they solved Hold'em. Hold'em is unsolvable and they seem to forget the human element involved. I think solvers and GTO will help a new player learn how to play sure. But after a while the little birdie has to leave the nest and learn to fly on his own. I check my plays periodically, not with a solver as they are way to expensive, but I enjoy watching Jonathan Little sometimes and I'll do the pause the video and what would you do type thing. About the only play I don't get on board with is the check-raise on a gut shot straight draw. And the only reason I limit that is because everyone is doing what the solver says these days so I try to avoid certain plays to be exploited while exploiting others cause I know what they are up to. Check raise me on the flop and if I think you are a thinking player I will assume you are on some J. Little BS and maybe rip it.
      The human side is when someone makes a play on you and rather than playing GTO you identify there play is what a solver is telling them to do so you switch and play exploitive. I use to always check raise back in 2005ish now I hardly ever do because now everyone is doing it and you can't be the best if you play like the rest. If you want to be in the top 1% that means you are doing something different than 99% of the other players. It's called having common sense and not playing like a robot. Using table dynamics to out think the other players. Being a competent human being like Phil Helmuth.
      Geez what a long reply sorry 'bout that I'm just so elated D'negs got it handed to him after all his new style blah blah blah, yap yap yap he has been doing ever since he played Polk and somehow considers himself a poker God now. He's got like 40 million in winnings pre new style. He might want to rethink some spots before his new style puts him -40 milly. He's gotta be down at least 2 million already and it's only been a handful of months since his revelations.

      If Phil were truly a top pro, why doesn't he play in high roller tournaments with the best of the best? Why doesn't he play in the high stakes cash games like Triton? Why won't he play heads up in a low variance, high volume format? Bracelets are meaningless. Large field tournaments full of rec players. Any fish (like RampagePoker) can win a bracelet if their bankroll is big enough for the buy-in, and there are tons of WSOP bracelet events each year. Daniel Negreanu is a case study in a poker truth few are willing to admit: luck is NOT distributed equally. Poker players pretend it is, that over the "long haul" everything evens out. It's absolute horseshit and naive thinking. Just like in life, one man is blessed with perfect genes, good health, the right parents, etc. Another man has a rough go of it his entire existence. If luck was an equal construct, everyone would hit a bad beat jackpot. I personally know a guy who hit 3 of them. Millions of other players never hit one. If you want to view a microcosm of this, just watch Dwan hit every card for 6 straight seasons on GSN HSP. Meanwhile Negreanu got turned or rivered seemingly every single time. Tom had great luck, and that gave him confidence to make big moves. When you're constantly snake bit like Daniel, it messes with your game and you play a defensive style. It is what it is and all these people out there pretending poker is rocket science -- yeah whatever. The guy with luck on his side, playing a heater, is the most dangerous man at any given table at that time. Period.
