I sort of agree with Trudeau and the lying comment. But with more nuance. People accepted a certain level of lying from our politicians. Tell some lies, but don’t go crazy sort of thing. Now though thats just been thrown out the window. And lying if it agrees with your narrative is rewarded. But the most egregious factor is the media no longer fact checking or call out the right on anything. And they've been the most generous users of this new level of lying.

Absolutely agree. A politician is never 100% truthful, especially if votes are on the line. But Pierre takes it to a whole new, very damaging level when he actively supports the kind of propaganda that promotes hatred against identifiable groups, even when he shields his words to hide his meaning.
Which he is a masterclass purveyor of.

He would like to make sure any new bike lanes are put in the proper place to ensure they are used by people riding bikes while at the same time not blocking traffic. He is correct a lot of the existing bike lanes are "hogwash" because previous politicians didn't think through the proper locations and just put them in place to win votes. A lot of bike lanes are under used while at the same time blocking traffic.

The Conservative Party (really the Reform Party rebranded) relies on Canadians having short memories. We're caught in a death-spiral in Canada, where the Liberals squander the possibilities for real change that Canadians elect them for (Examples - the Kid promised Senate reform and an end to first-past-the-post federal elections way back in '15. He lied about scrapping the F-35. He lied about attacking climate change and bankrolled the LNG pipeline system in BC.). Then Canadians get pissed at the Liberals and, to punish them, elect the Conservatives, which simply punishes us all.

A fundamental problem is that the Liberal Party (and "liberals" in general, across the so-called Western world) are shallow opportunists with no political philosophy behind them, as opposed to real, traditional liberals; who probably don't exist anymore beyond academia. "Conservatives" on the other hand (PS. they're not really "conservatives" in the way that political philosophers of The Enlightenment understood the term.) _have_ an ideology and an end-game, which involves pitting various groups within a given society against each other in order to create a Total State, with a maximal leader at its head, while the rest of us are serfs. *Saying is not doing; and if that was his strategy, why would he make it public! The biggest problems Trudeau has are 1) That the irrational hatred that some people on the right have for him cannot be combatted in any way other than for Trudeau to step down and not be a walking target anymore. And 2) That Trudeau still does not understand that he will not win the next election by doing business as usual and repeating what he did in previous elections! Once again, Trudeau cannot, not even with electoral promises or policy accomplishments stop the hate a too large number of people have against him; no one can buy off someone who viscerally hates them! So that large part of the electorate is lost to him. As for the rest of the electorate, many are lukewarm to him and are not excited to vote for him yet again; yet at the same time, they are not willing to give the NDP a chance (and the NDP has not given them much to want to vote for them either).*
*Trudeau is trying to hold on to the PM office because he has not built a legacy that will be remembered and because his ex-wife told him to chose between her and being PM… and he made the wrong choice! Dropout or lose the next election: Trudeau will be mostly forgotten as a chief bureaucrat who sometime cried for sympathy and spoke (though not always followed up with concrete action and policies) of human rights. His one and only (Desperate) hope to save face is to win the election and hope to do something, anything in the following years to leave an impact…. BUT if he does that, if he stubbornly stays on, the Coms are going to make the entire election about HIM and he will be defenceless against those attacks.*
*If Trudeau stays on as leader of the Liberals, his ONLY legacy will be: PRIME-MINISTER PIERRE POILIEVRE!!! And the ones who will pay for his hubris WILL BE US! NOT HIM: because he’ll retire in luxury and will have plenty of business connection to enjoy his early retirement. The poor, the women, the 2SLGBTQ+ people, indigenous peoples and all other minorities will suffer the Maple-MAGA doctrine ($1,000 says Poilievre, if he hasn’t gotten it already, will receive a copy of project 2025 on DAY ONE of his administration and will adapt as much as he can to make it his marching orders for the foreseeable future!)*

When you talk about the legacy of a prime minister. It tends to be with rose coloured nostalgia glasses. Even ones that were seen as terrible at the time (like Mulroney) are remembered fondly. Justin's legacy will likely be bringing in affordable childcare, dental, potentially pharma-care, increasing pensions (if the Bloc get what they want) and funding for housing. Carbon pricing to combat climate change, being the Prime minister that helped guide Canada through Covid and the problematic Trump presidency. Re-negotiating CAMUS... There are plenty of positive things that Justin will likely end up being remember for.

So, you'd rather just have a tantrum? This is why Liberals don't win. Too busy with majoring on the minors.
      I don't like Trudeau.
I think he should step down.
I'm still going to vote Liberal.
Also... You should probably learn about the Canadian Parliamentary system because unless you live in the riding of one of those guys, you CAN'T vote for them.

@@MamaJanella I know all to well the federal system that Trudeau promised to fix and he didn’t because it served him well! I also know that he won’t get a majority AGAIN and will suck up to another party to stay in power and pass bills that no sane Liberal would ever consider! BTW not having a tantrum just tired of our money being pissed away on things we can’t afford!

The problem with our politics in general is that we as human beings (both Liberal and Conservative) have turned it into a moral issue instead of something that should be pragmatic. For instance, if a party is elected and does a great job with the country, we continue to re-elect them. If they don't we elect another party, regardless if that party is the Liberal or Conservative party.
Sadly I don't see that in Canada now in 2024. People will vote not because they agree with that party, but because they don't want the other party to win, because they believe the other party are the "bad guys". This is so stupid to me.
There are reasons why Trudeau is not doing so well atm, one of them being that we are tired of him. And yet, most of you will still plan to vote for him again. That is insane, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. That is what I see delusional liberals doing.
Pierre Poilievre is not perfect, in fact he is the lesser evil compared to Trudeau, but we as Canadians (both left and right) should at least take a chance on him, see what he MIGHT do in the future (if he is elected in 2025).

Trudeau has been abysmal. In my perspective that isn't different. My life hasn't gotten worse under trudeau than it was under harper.

I do not like P.Ps style of politics. He comes across as a mini-Trump to me. Jagmeet and Justin have way more class, and are always talking about whats best for Canadians. Not whats wrong w the other guys.
