Haha. By the looks of my statistics, wire a few of you. LUVCAT videos are three out of my top videos over the last 48 hours, for the first time replacing TLDP in those slots.
Very nice! Seems like the tall gentleman has been stuck on bass lately, & there's lots of different six string guitarists in different shows with this band. Thanks for sharing!
That'll be Jack. Long term friend, and I'm glad to see him having Sophie's back. He's quite a guitarist as well as you may have seen, but this is her chosen format for 'important' gigs. The other three live in Liverpool, so it's a schlep for them to be at every gig. I'm happy to announce that they came to me for merch printing too, and made a bling version of her Embroidered LUVCAT cushion as a tee shirt. We were all really happy with how they came out.
I feel like I've watched like 3 Luvcat shows in the last week on this channel. Lou, you're not stalking Luvcat are you? Honestly, I can't blame you. Once you lay eyes on that hat it's a foregone conclusion what's going to happen. It's obvious someone in a hat like that is going to sell you a pack of cigarettes off of a polished silver serving tray at a wake. Thanks for documenting that terrific hat Lou!
Haha. I wondered when somebody would notice. This was their first headline, and a sell out show, so I had to be there, plus I made some of her new merch, so we’ve been in contact a fair bit. Plus I love Sophie’s songwriting, and want to see her do well. She’s pretty down to Earth irl, and I love the way she brings glamour and dark humour to her largely autobiographical sounding tales of misspent and well spent days.
@@LouSmith Of course she's down to earth Lou. She's a scouser🤣. Not sure if you caught it yet but Far Out magazine published a piece yesterday on this gig. They're calling Sophie the next big thing and making comparisons to TLDP. I just hope Sophie doesn't have to endure some of the shit thrown at TLDP. Great to see Matador doing so well. Well over half million Spotify streams now and over 120,000 monthly listeners too. Fingers crossed a label picks this up and signs her as these songs belong on an album. So glad you're helping her out mate. Great work as usual.
@alanadams7071 I saw that article, and agreed with every word. They've been a regular feature of the Easycome acoustic club in Camberwell for over a year now, so I know sophie's been putting in the hours. And yes, she's a Scouser through and through. Lovely to see her mum and dad turning up at her shows to support along with the obligatory enthusiastic sing/shout-along mates. I got into what became a very heated debate about TLDP last night with the same old accusations coming out about how they got to be supporting the stones so quickly yada yada yada. They just wouldn't accept that a record company looking to invest in the next thing, and stumbling across these five gorgeous and talented women with a whole album worth of songs and a great live show, would be literally scrambling to sign and promote them to a receptive world, and that they would blow up exponentially. It was obvious to me after my first encounter with them that they would be unstoppable. I think Sophie's unapologetic Scouser credentials will save her from criticism on the posh front at least. They're going to do very well, I'm certain.
This is their first debut, and a sell out, lists bursting at the seams, so they really made the effort for it with the Liverpool lads joining the party. The songs have such powerful hooks, that they sink in pretty deep after just a listen or two, but then the bitter sweet humour in the lyrics keeps them there. This was definitely a watershed moment for them.
every few months I come back to your channel to see if there’s any new Luvcat videos, because ever since discovering them a couple weeks before Matador was even released I’ve become obsessed (much like everyone else haha). So thank you so so much for sharing these gigs/concerts with us!
Thanks for checking in! And commenting. Yes, I’m hoping to catch them again soon, so you’re right to keep checking. You could also subscribe and check notifications, then you’ll know straight away when I post something.
@@LouSmith Oh I’ve been subscribed for months already! My youtube notifications are just sometimes I think glitching and they end up not working which is why I always just check myself! :)
Just saw Sophie. There should be some exciting footage coming your way before long. She's just got the greatest support slot for an upcoming European tour.
@@LouSmith Omg what that’s amazing!! Thanks for telling me! I’ll be on the lookout for what European tour and who knows, maybe it’ll be near me and I’d actually get to go :D
I need them to release the whole album. 😭
That may take a little while, but we know it's gonna sizzle when they do.
commenting on this video to prove I was here before they get huge

Ps. Two videos in the last month! I've had quite a backlog of other stuff all awaiting different components before uploading.

@LouSmith Hope you're right Lou. Didn't stop Katherine Parlour getting labelled though and she's even more scouse than Sophie 😀
It's wild how familiar these songs are just from watching your videos of this band. Great work as always, this is the best one yet.

Still not understanding what you’re trying to ask.
