Namaskar. This is my understanding of the song. And it is a beautiful song. Lightning crashes is lightning that emanates from a cloud and hits the ground. It's known as a lightning strike/bolt. It's a way for the sky to connect to the earth. lightning strikes exist because charge builds up and that energy has to be transferred to be grounded or be balanced. Simply balancing a force. How this relates to the song is as follows. An old woman is dying and her soul is ascending towards heaven similarly a baby is being born ..a soul is making it's descend down to Earth creating that balance of life and death. Where the song gets more interesting is the introduction of reincarnation in the lines. The lines "the confusion that hers belongs now to the baby down the hall..." brings in that reincarnation theme. I've added the lyrics at the end to show the forces of the wind and thunder both taking and giving life A bit about the band. I've been a fan of theirs for close to 26 years. I got to see them Live in my home country South Africa. I am of Indian descent..both my parents being of Indian descent. Ed Kowalczyk the lead singer and main writer was heavily influenced by Indian philosopher and writer Jiddu Krishnamurti during this period in his life. He has now gone back to Christianity. But there were major influences of Eastern culture and philosophy in the early days of the band. Their third album was called Secret Samadhi, Google Samadhi and you get this ....a state of intense concentration achieved through meditation. In yoga this is regarded as the final stage, at which union with the divine is reached (before or at death). Basically secret spiritual awakening. Secret Samadhi although quite heavy is my favourite album of theirs. Fav song though for me has to go to "I Alone" that for me is just a song on another level of consciousness and understanding that is ineffable...the truth of it is meant to be felt and not explained. Hope that helps. I enjoyed the video. Lightning isn't that useless actually... "Lightning crashes an old mother dies Her intentions fall to the floor The angel closes her eyes The confusion that was hers Belongs now to the baby down the hall Oh now feel it, comin' back again Like a rollin', thunder chasing the wind Forces pullin' from The center o fthe earth again I can feel it"
You guys got it almost all the way right but there’s one small but important detail that was missed. It’s that the life of the person dying goes into that of the child being born. The song describes a hospital scene and in one room a woman dies, while another woman in giving birth in another room down the hall. The woman dies in the same instant the child is born, and in that brief instant lightning crashes and the life force of the dying woman is transferred into the newly born child. You can think of it as sort of like a reincarnation of consciousness or energy or something to that effect. It’s a very deep song and I’m very happy someone requested this because this is a song I was really hoping to see you guys react to. It was a fantastic reaction, I enjoyed it a lot.
Live were a great band, i always thought there silly name held them back though. The amount of times i had trouble finding there cds wheni asked as the guys working there never knew what i meant, always thought i was asking for live music and not a actual band. Same thing when you put live into a search engine, mainly came up with live music.
The song of life and death, watch the official video and truly understand what this is about, it will bring tears you your eyes....trust me good people, love you guys and girls, peace.
The lightning crashing sounds like a random, but dramatic introduction to the void. A flash of brilliance, energy in motion, then nothing. Like all of us.
This band had many other hits as well. Lightning Crashes happens to be my favorite song but off the same album were I Alone and Selling the Drama (Both were #1 Rock Songs along with Lightning Crashes), other favorites of mine were The Dolphins' Cry and the one I think you should react to most Lakini's Juice.
Their entire first album is amazing, Mental Jewelry. But, Ed Kowalsic (sp?)(singer) has a strange affliction to water. I once asked him if he had a near death experience through drowning or something, but he never answered me.
"The confusion that was hers belongs now to the baby down the hall." Don't know how they got "melts in" for the lyric transcription. Messed up an incredibly beautiful, powerful verse. (I know it wasn't you guys, who - as ever - rock.)
I always thought this was about a old mother who died in child birth then is reincarnated as a baby to a new mother the circle of life lighting crashing is souls entering and leaving earth
wow remember when music had emotional content. real feeling attached to the words and chords , not just idiots moaning about nonsense fuck what happened we are regressing
Excellent song and an excellent band with a lot more good music.
My favorite band. They have some great music. Im pleased you made note of his voice. I love it
I am from U.S.A. I love the song and you seem to be a wonderful family. God bless you and thank you.
I've heard this before but never known who was performing it. Cool song.
It is self explanatory. Circle of life. New mother cries, old mother dies.
There's no "second voice" in this song. It's all one person, Ed Kowalczyk ;)
I think Chad Taylor did the backing vocals on this and it's his voice they are referring to at the end.
@@neishachetty1998 nope its definatly ed's :)
the song was written by the singer of the band, after a friends wife delivered a still born child, very sad , very powerful song.
I recommend Dolphins Cry by Live if you liked this one.
"Let's not die before we die." Like the song, deceptively simple, yet profound. Wonderful reaction all.

Love LIVE it was one of those bands that opened my mind back in the day.

@@NefariousPorpoise I’m not blaming it on anything period though

You guys were spot on in your analysis!! The Cycle of life, the miracle of life, the circle of life.
I love you guys haha. I want to hang out and listen to tunes and talk about life with you lol. Keep up the awesome content!
Live is one of the greatest 90s band...and Throwing copper is just iconic ...Lightning crashes is one of my fav Live song.
The song of life and death, watch the official video and truly understand what this is about, it will bring tears you your eyes....trust me good people, love you guys and girls, peace.
One of the greatest songs of all time
The lightning crashing sounds like a random, but dramatic introduction to the void. A flash of brilliance, energy in motion, then nothing. Like all of us.
blessings to all ove you and thank you for the channel
Wonderful chartopper from 1994 appears to allude to a transferance of spirit from a person who's died into one who is born 🌴 Good reaction Enoma 🎧

Thank you for the upload. I also enjoy a psycho analytical point of view. I do care what is in the box. I enjoy reading.. 😍😜
As a child is born, her mother passed away, very good group!

True. Also, "Oh I" - not "Oh why?"
@@annachelpanova3586 genius.com has it as oh why. What's weird is several lyric website don't include either.
Love this song. You guys rock
I love you two! Keep it up. Great opinions
I love your appreciation of new music. It's what makes us one! We are all the same.
Youre a very lucky man . kirti is amazingly attractive and very cool . Respect to you both 👍

Live - Heaven
Another outstanding voice try The Cult sweet soul sister
Only song I know with plencta in it lol
😎
Enjoy your reactions. Try Deftones Knife Party. Would really like to see you guys react.
Come to America
I recommend you to listen to live-all over you
Did you guys know what the word placenta means? It's an odd word if English isn't your first language.
Can you guys please react to "This Woman's Work" by Kate Bush?
The song is about Lucifer's fall, and how the earth's only advocate fell to the floor. It's a song mocking God. That's my take on it.
😂 what
@@dave93x The truth hurts. These guys are intyo stuff you dont even know exists
That video didn’t get the lyrics correct. Just so you know.
Lose yourself in the *soul*. Great song, great reaction.
