    For such a young person you pose some very thoughtful conversations. Just got my augmentation done last month and couldn't be happier. they look natural. not obvious and ridiculous. I'm not an influencer so I don't do this for the clicks. Being gen-x I I did wait a long time before I got it done. not really out of choice. rib removal for thinner waist was always in the back of my mind but never got serious about it. I do find as I sit in my later 50's my desire for facial surgeries is kind of normal. I do want to get a more natural facial feminization look without needing 8 layers of make-up. seeing as you head looks like it gets bigger as you get older it is probably the perfect time. Same with voice surgery. I don't have ti me for that make-up ritual anymore in my day. being honest I have done that ritual since my 20's and 30's. I put on a face but it's pretty basic and low key.

      They didn't remove the ribs back then.... But yes they wore corcets to give the impression of having a small waist. Waist training are still a thing today. Plastic surgery is new. Previously it was too dangerous because antibiotics did not exist yet.

      @tsmariexox you underestimate the human penchant for self-brutality. Maybe no, maybe yes, but the rumor was in my schoolbooks. Self reshaping has certainly been around a long time. From foot-binding to neck stretching and head shaping, "plastic surgery" of the human form has been around in one shape (pun inended) or another for millennia.

    I love that they shared this to other people who didnt know of those surgeries. Like having SRS is defo a must for some trans babes, me included. But having breast surgery is also one of those trans women do just for aesthetics because a LOT of cis women do not have big breasts!! or hourglass figure, or wide hips. So where do we draw the line? Im for surgeries for people who want them. Remove your ribs, collar bones, some of your vocal folds do you boo boo! Is it dangerous? Sure, but so as walking down the street and getting hit by a car, whats being heealthy gonna do to you then, nothing. I say LIVE!!

      Passing is a lot about proportions. Having bigger boobs can offset wider shoulders or draw attention away from slimmer hips. So a breast can make you pass. Sure some do it for aesthetic reasons but some do it to alleviate dysphoria or to help with passing.
      If they already pass then it is mostly their BDD or they are self-conscious and then they are just like cis women in that regard...

    • @FreiaNomad
      @FreiaNomad 13 днів тому

      @@E.Mulchi I'm with you on this. One I didn't know bigger boobs affect shoulder perception but makes sense. The point I'm making is there is no line to draw. If you're "passing" you're passing as someone else, not as yourself. Some women wanna pass as pretty and some men wanna pass as muscular and nice versa. Offset shoulder? Get a collar bone removal. Want wider hips like myself, fat redistribution and maybe hip augmentation with fillers.
      PS. Some women have an inverted triangle body and they look like trans women, small hips wide shoulders, so passing is about passing as one type of woman not just as a woman. Womanhood is vast and has no limits. I learned to accept my body and the fact that I am trans, not ashamed of it. Society needs to see more of us to accept us instead of hiding ourselves, my opinion.

      Getting breast implants that fit my frame changed my life. Genuinely not cosmetic, and pennsylvania medicaid recognizes and funds them. We do it for safety and self love. Does removing a rib inspire self love? Or does indulge in self hatred?

    • @FreiaNomad
      @FreiaNomad 10 днів тому +1

      @@yemitruechild1200 Changed your life, sure, coming out as non-binary changed my life. Breast implants are cosmetic is my argument. You could have gotten bigger hips instead? that could solve your shoulder problem too. Or remove your collar bones, or rib cage for example. So yes removing your ribs inspire self love because it gets rid of your dysphoria, each one of us has their own triggering dysphoric body parts. I for instance, don't care about boobs, In fact I love small boobs on cis women and probably myself. I hate my massive shoulders and tiny hip and straight waist. My solution is get smaller waist and bigger hips, Lipo 360 + BBL is my go to. I will always be male and a trans woman, I cried about it, I accepted my reality and now I love my reality and I cant wait for what's next.

    Hi Maya I love your channel and appreciate your sentiments But having had vfs, rib removal, BA, PI, extensive ffs, 300 hrs of electrolysis, extensive lipo and body sculpting I feel qualified to comment given my experience
    First there are risks
    Second for those of us who are taller, more muscular, more vee shaped and barrel chested than others we have a much greater challenge if we are to cause others less discomfort and ourselves greater comfort with our presentation
    I have had very few complications post surgery and don’t regret any of my procedures
    However I haven’t reduced my shoulders or my feet etc as this felt unnecessary and a little more problematic
    I am now 66 and I am never mis gendered I feel completely happy with my body I don’t think that this would have been the case without these surgeries, voice therapy and years of socialisation as a woman
    It is a long, more expensive and perhaps riskier path than others may face or be comfortable with
    If I had transitioned in my 20’s and had puberty blockers in my teen years then perhaps I would have felt similarly to you
    Keep up the good work My advice is you do you and make sure you are fully informed and know the risks xx

  • @obliterator789
    @obliterator789 14 днів тому +1

    I think for some people, the risks are worth it - not everyone is blessed with a smaller frame, and we all know that 'passing' is as much a dysphoria thing as it is a safety thing. Certainly not for everyone for sure, but I think in some circumstances it is viable.

    Great content again! Thought provoking, you have really framed the issue well for people to consider aspects of body changing surgery. This issue goes so far beyond Trans as you have pointed out. The trans community, those who have taken paths of gender affirming surgery are an interesting case. It is a certainly a question of “where do you draw the line”. Given reasonable mental heath, it is in individual decision. I suppose those who have had gender affirming surgery are a special case because they have already crossed “a line” of undergoing serious surgical set of procedures to achieve a necessary change. In my personal circumstances, a senior cis very average looking male, I have not had a need to cross that line. Even fairly minor procedures to “improve” my appearance are not under consideration due to my general personal boundaries of avoiding “unnecessary” medical procedures. Of course “necessary” is really a personal decision. In my case while many of my peers have done things like hair transplants, (or drugs to stop hair loss), liposuction etc., surgical procedures are a line I have not felt compelled to cross, this however is a luxury of being cis with age related changes that are very unremarkable. For people like trans, or others who have compelling reasons to cross that surgical line, perhaps that clear line is less apparent, and the decisions more complex. Anyway excellent thought provoking constant. Living so far from your reality, I am thankful to get a glimpse of life through your perspective. I admire your ability to communicate this. It may be a personal journey for you, it is an educational experience for many of us on the side lines. My very best to you.

  • @RonnieS911
    @RonnieS911 14 днів тому +1

    There are some procedures that are strictly gender/sex affirming related , and then there are those that are just cosmetic. Like removing ribs, that sounds more like cosmetic as feminising as we think it can be for some… but it’s mostly aesthetic because some of us think that women must have the Jessica rabbit shape… but women come in all different shapes and sizes.. so some of us disguise this idea of perfection as a transgender struggle, when in fact, it’s not an essential surgery to get at all and we get more into body dismorphia than dysphoria… Eden is super feminine in every way , and she’s beautiful but she’s becoming a caricature like Jessica rabbit along all those people who get 748392 surgeries and keep chasing surgeries to fix something that is probably just broken inside.

    Hi maya just a question about the Q/A section, where exactly would I comment, or do I just comment here? If I comment here, here's my question: "Hello Maya, I am a college senior who recently started taking HRT at the age of 20, I am currently about 3 months. I have been out as trans to my immediate family (Mom/Dad and siblings) since I was 16 and knew I was likely trans since my early teens. However, I have not socially transitioned in any way. I have done makeup stuff at home and have gone out to queer spaces as a woman, but never anywhere in my "normal" life. My experience sort of differs from the "traditional" trans experience in some ways given that I have always sort of tried staying away from anything remotely feminine and had many traditionally "masculine" experiences growing up. I always sort of knew something was different though. Regardless, I have stayed mostly closeted due to a lot of fear on my end. What would you say is the best way to face this fear? I will obviously not be able to hide the changes of HRT forever, but I also don't want to stick out as a sore thumb and be completely not passing and jump the gun either. I am someone who doesn't know how extended family, classmates, teachers, etc will react, especially since I am in a science major with few if any openly queer people, or even women."

    Hi Maya! I honestly think you're coming from a very mentally healthy place. I would not even think of removing a rib for anything much less two or three of them. Your chances of surviving a simple car crash just got worse dramatically. To each their own I guess. Stay grounded guys! 😊

    Men and women have the same number of ribs. however male ribs expand a little more or do they. Some females have wider rib cage then most men. These are not trans at all they are born raised women.
    Really do not need to remove ribs to get a thinner waist line that is decided by DNA as not all women are the same.
    Women that are over 6 feet tall have larger and wider ribs as they do hips.
    women that are 4 foot 11 or smaller have really tiny hips and rib width.
    SO really our DNA makes our shape. Our Brain has to connect with that body size and shape. The SEX is another matter as sometimes the brain is one direction and body is another. That happens.
    But Removing ribs is just foolish.
    Count the ribs and tell me if I am wrong men and women have the same number of ribs.

    Copy and pasting my reply to someone's comment: Getting breast implants that fit my frame changed my life. Genuinely not cosmetic, and pennsylvania medicaid recognizes and funds them. We do it for safety and self love. Does removing a rib inspire self love? Or does it indulge in self hatred?

      It’s about weighing the pros and cons.
      Pros:
      -“self love” by conforming to the male gaze and hoping to achieve a smaller waist
      -possible alleviation of some dysphoria
      Cons:
      -exposure of vital organs, rendering vulnerable to rupturing
      -potential nerve damage
      -irreversible

    I am going to be kind.
    The majority of Trans activities are related to a neurological issue. That said no medical research is being used into finding the medical reason for this as the majority phase out of this after they reach 25 years old unless they are encouraged to take the process that some take.
    My own research suggests this neurological issue is due to an introduction of chemical products at a young age. I would refer to the cause of add, ADHD, and aspersions syndrome has been linked to high levels of Red dye 40. Now some have suggested this not to be true. However my own research and experience show that at a young age Red dye 40 does have issues in these symptoms. People who have these symptoms also are effected when taking medication to help if they drink anything with Red dye 40 blocks the medication effectiveness completely.
    I would say at this time the medical field and government are not interested in looking into the reason for this neurological issue as we already have a good idea of what's causing the issue. The scientific community just does not have a financial reason to fix or correct this issue. Mostly because for now it's a .1% of the world population. The government and the scientific community don't really take action until they can make a profit. My own research has linked the use of over 40 different types of MSG related to this neurological issue. In some, these MSG trigger headaches and other symptoms. A glass of eater a 1.4 teaspoon of cream of tartar neutralizes the toxic effects. Yet the neurological damage has already started. Young kids are even more effected and that's when we see these neurological issues in some kids. Keep in mind not everyone's the same, so some MSG effects differ. As far as I can see, there are no changes that will be made for those most affected as it's just 0.1% of the world's population. I do find this topic, and Chanelle is interesting.

    I think taking out a rib is much better then taking off your 🍆 But for sure, removing any body part to help cure an issue in the mind (dysphoria) makes complete sense. Transform yourself into a completely different person to cover up the pain seems like the best way to heal your mind...

    • @Halffullofjuice
      @Halffullofjuice 14 днів тому

      Incorrect. Therapy and acceptance is the only way to find your true self. Transitioning covers up your true self with surgeries and medication. It says to nevermind the pain you feel, and to literally turn yourself into someone else. Different name, pronouns, body parts, unnatural boost or reduction in hormone levels. It's literally not dealing with a problem by covering it up. These are all facts that you will come to learn, as everyone will in a few more years. Maya is a test subject in a lab experiment.
