I think Tao is right. Honestly, everyone could be afraid of failure, but there is no need to cry before you give it a shot.
Sophie Yue he’s 100% right! How can you be a performer if your too scared to compete? What’s the point of coming on the show? Everyone has their weakness but they still proudly stood up to perform regardless of the feedback. That’s how you grow as an artist.

The girls chose to come here but they were timid, they should have some confidence, if not, then what was the use of coming to a show were you HAVE to at least perform one stage. Regarding about the male mentors, these shows look for qualified mentors and mentors that are available, since the show's system became stricter, I'm glad they chose males and not females. Since some females could go easy on them. Don't call him a bully if you don't understand how Chinese show systems work, because you definitely don't seem to.

And you said that women aren't slave (which has nothing to do with what was being discussed) and that they are beautiful artistic spirits that should be nurtured but actually they aren't giving themselves an opportunity to be appreciated
For those that think Tao's comments are a bit harsh, I think you have to understand that these group of judges went through so many years of training in Korea under SM. They are the one who knows that crying ain't going to get you anywhere. If you are familiar with this show, you'll know that in the previous season, one particular girl debuted and she literally can't sing or dance.
If you don't mind me asking who that girl is? i'm curious to see how she debuted!

She debuted only because she is cute...she cannot sing/dance at all and is totally a joke, dragging down the entire team... she is very famous now, but in a bad way...times have changed. Chinese audience are very tired of people like Yang Chao Yue in showbiz. i am guessing this year's show will be very different in terms of which 7 can eventually debut. a lot more emphasis on hardcore vocal and dance skills.

People are getting mad at Tao because he "shouted" at the girls. You have to understand, he is doing this because he knows crying can get you nowhere. And he is an ex-member of EXO from SM Entertainment. The company is known for their strict standards. He knows so he cares. And no one learns if you're too sweet with them, he has to get mad here and there. There are many other strict mentors. Lisa, Cheetah, Yixing and others. Lisa was strict, but she never raised her voice to point of yelling. A mentor is someone who is to be a trusted advisor/trainer. The other mentors were just as frustrated at this point, but they did not have to yell to get their point across.

All the girls are so talented in their own ways. But I do agree with Tao on why he got angry, why join the show if you are too timid? It's not a place to pity a person to stardom. If you want to fight for your dream, stand up and try your best. Not winning a spot doesn't mean that you're not good enough, it just means that you need to practice harder and improve yourself. I think for sure this show needs someone like Tao to input strictness into the trainees. It's to help them gain their lack confidence. Tao has a very soft heart, he is a strict person only because he cares and want the girls to believe in themselves. Just two episodes in and I can see so many talented girls. Looking forward to this show.

ok im gonna say it now these trainees are on a whole other level than the korean survival show trainees. these are probably the best of the best in china, honestly they could all debut already. if you look at their singing and dancing, its already super advanced compared to produce 101 trainees
Pearlie Grace they are soo much talented. No offense to produce 101. But these girls can both sing, rap and dance at the same time and im like 🤭🤭🤭. Like some Korean trainees train for years but they still lip sync. Like I’m not against it but once in a while I wanna hear their raw voices🤷🏽♀️

I agree, but not with first season, first korean season had a lot of talent, but not everyone go to the group because of corruption, for example leader-songwriter in g-idle is from first season
They're so talented, that's right but not all of them know how to work as a team, there are several who are shy or scared and didn't show their true talent. On the other hand, there are girls that stand out much more or try to do it to the task of their own team.
Curley Gao is the best. I cannot put my eyes on other girls once you are here.

My honest opinion is this show needs someone like tao. Not everyone can understand how to improve with nice critic all the time. Sometimes harshness is needed, which I think it is needed to wake the girls up and to be more competitive. Mentors are there to guide them to improve and different people need different type of mentors.
Salwa Din Tao is doesn’t has good experience in judging and he doesn’t has a good taste just my opinion. Luhan has more experience and knowledge better than Tao...

Curley Gao is currently a student in Berklee Music School majoring in singing! Super Cool.
I understand Tao. He had every right to be this mad. Tao had to go to another country because an opportunity like this show wasn't even available back then. He learned another language, stayed in a very strict system of training for years, and even when he debuted he had to fight for a spotlight.
These girls got an opportunity over thousands of other girls who auditioned and got rejected. they have the opportunity to showcase their talents without losing anything but instead, they are sitting on those seats as some elite group who are already at the top. They aren't even trying when many others in the same room as them were fighting head to head. If you can't even appreciate the blessing you have, then you don't deserve such a blessing.
It wasnt a blessing tho, it was the opportunity, the chance to show ur talent/skill... Because they weren't competing all against each other. It was the top ones getting to choose after who steps up to be chosen. It wasn't always like style competing like against like.
Just so people know: Curley Gao also produces/writes songs, and she plays the piano. So yeah :)

I think Yao Hui needs more recognition so here is a thing: one of the most difficult things to do when you're making a song it's translating your emotions to the lyrics and melody. She made the mentors emotional during her performance and she sounds so pure and sincere. Besides, even tho she learned to do music a little time ago she is still so good. I just think she is truly gifted and born to make music. Maybe she will not win this show or something, but she deserved all the recognition from the judges for her performance. All my love and support for her.

Somehow Tao judgements is only to his own opinion and not being fair to the other judges. Luhan and Victoria were being very patient and mature. They took their time to see every little of the girls performance. No hate for the judges btw .

I think Tao is speaking from experience when he says crying wont help you achieve your dreams, but he shouldn’t have gotten angry about it and thrown a fit.
Quick reminder that Tao debuted in EXO under SM's Company as a foreigner. SM is known for their exhaustive and perfectionist training method which means to even debut with EXO 8 years ago he had to compete with other trainees. I am not saying what he says is the rule but you should also take this into consideration because he came from harsh, competitive environment
I think as tao has passed through many hard paths. He is trying to help them because he knows how hard it is ,he wants them to be strong and confident so even they don’t win they will be able to face their upcoming😁
They cut off a lot of Tao's great advice part. He gave lots of good advice even proper vocal care but Tencent cut it off. So annoying. They got what they wanted though w/ Tao scolding the trainees as it got this show #1 trending with 4million+ people talking about it on Weibo.
To be neutral:
For those contestants doing well, keep going and maintain the spot. As for contestants doing poorly and not in top tier, it's okay, keep fighting and don't give up. It is only the very first episode, and they still have a long way to go. Most importantly, they must put in the efforts and cherish the stage without any regrets. Remember, the final episode ranking will be the one decides if you can make it into the group. I believe that as long they continue working hard and improving themselves, they will get more attention from people like us. Keep fighting everyone!
***To add on, People may don't like the outcome of the battle results, but they should not hate the contestants. It is not like they know they will win like that.

Because they did better than the other one. The first sang and danced, but the singing was too bad even the mentor said so if we eliminate the singing from the group they only have the dance as well as the second group, and as a group dance the second was more coordinated, more synchronized and the did well in group but the others only have explosion what is good, but you can see that the dance is a bit chaotic. So I think that is why they chose the second group. if gao zi team can really sing I hope they can show and to learn how to coordinate in dance and to sing while dancing and improve a lot, because I think they have charisma

If the show give you an opportunity to show your abilities and the other team do better, don't worry, it will be another opportunity. But the thrut is the first group were not capable of signing while dancing and that left a bad impression if you try but not do it right, also, they want to be in a girl group but they even can organise a dance with their group? As the mentor said the first group dance was chaotic more like the dance battles from the begging. So, first group give us sing and do it wrong, also they give us dance and the second team do way better. The decision is clear, if the second team can't sing they possible will be dragged down, but in the battle the performance of both teams were very different and that is what matters in an idol the performance you give to the public

It just seems off cause the whole performance of the second group feels like you're watching SHEN YUN instead of an idol show if you know what I mean. Also, if they only did dancing..then they shouldve given the first group another chance as well its annoying and just seems unfair ://

Wow so many talented trainees here.. Li Xie Ning group.. their killing part was really cool (the way they flip their hair and advance). The blue team's performance with the chinese instrument also felt very refreshing. The Lolita's group was cute and eye catching. What more.. there are trainees who could compose and sing their own songs.. This show really overflows with talent.
Am I the only one who wanted Luhan to display mic movement while singing when the mentors asked him too!!!! God I just love this man so much
I was shocked when read comments before that Curley's team lost but now watching the whole battle, I can understand the mentors decision. Yaohui's lyrics, from a mothertongue's perspective.. it actually brought me to tears. Her song was simple but the lyrics are raw and like Victoria said, along with her story it really leaves an impression. I feel like Yaohui and Curley can prob go head to head in solo vocals but Yaohui's performance here was more impactful than the cover of "me too".

they didnt even see yaohui’s dance skills before making a decision, which was purely emotional. curley’s team was more experienced. and if the mentors were judging based on songwriting, why didn’t hua chengyan win? she had a natural charisma, great song writing ability as well as being a decent dancer. in the next few eps, yaohui fails the theme song dance challenge. no surprise there, the mentors never saw her dance
Curley gao is just wayyy out of everyone's league, i really hope Chinese viewers feel the same way about her, if they don't have her in the final group they might as well just stop the show ngl

Look at JYP’s nizi project, girl’s cried but he told them what they needed to hear constructively instead of an outburst. You can be annoyed and still be mature about a situation. I do not want to hear about Tao being in SM either Bc luhan was in the exact same group and does not act out in that way.

Do you think the industry will be all “awww it’s okay you can cry”? No. He’s being honest, the industry will be even MORE harsh than him. If he’s gonna treat them nicely then that’s even more rude, because he’s not preparing them for the real world when he knows that he should. It’s fully valid for him to get mad that the girls come there and cry instead of working on their confidence and proving to him that they are capable. You won’t get anywhere unless you work harder than anyone, he’s just ensuring they do.
Curley, Feifei and roubing should've stayed. Yao hui is good and it's nice that she's a singer songwriter but this is trying to form a girl group. We don't even know if she can dance (since she didn't dance I'm guessing she can't) . If she ends up not being able to dance she's just gonna end up being pushed down anyway so why put her up there when the chances of her getting pushed down are very high
yao hui can easily portray her emotions when she is singing and her voice is really one of a kind, it's so soothing and beautiful. I don't want to say that curley, feifei and roubing don't have a good voice, no, because they a rly strong contestants when it comes to singing, but Yao hui is rly standing out, she is rly unique and just like Tao said, in a group you also need an original songwriter, and she is just fitting for this role, regarding to her dance skills...well she is in produce camp to learn, practice and get better at things she is lacking in. Which means she can take this opportunity to improve her dancing.

Honestly, does anyone remember Yang Chaoyue? From Produce 101? Before you guys talk about Yao Hui, lets think of ChaoYue. Her talents were being adorable and crying. Practically nothing else (this is when she was on the show, she may have improved after training with Rocket Girls 101). She still managed to place 3rd (I'm not trying to be rude, she herself admitted that she wasn't good and thought she didn't deserve this). at least Yao Hui can sing. It doesn't matter if she gets pushed down or not, if she works hard to learn how to dance, she'll stay if not she'll get pushed down. That's just how life works. This is only one of the first episodes, there is nothing to worry about. I believe in XiLinNaYi's group, that they'll be able to go back up, that this is only the beginning (literally...it's only the beginning).

@@donelynespiritu7215 i listened to the other contestants sing and tbh Yao Hui doesn't sound like them, she has her own style and can really show what she's got. You may say that she sounds the same just because she has a soft and soothing voice, many of the other girls have tried to sing soothing, but not many have been able to pull off what she did. Yao Hui expresses herself very beautifully and she also has a lot of singing skills. Yes Curley is an amazing singer, who has a very powerful voice and I have nothing to complain about her, but it doesn't mean that Yao Hui isn't an amazing singer either. She probably hasn't hit those high notes like Curley, but it doesn't mean that she can't, you heard her sing only 2 songs and already assume things you may not know about her, I am looking forward to her future performances too, because I really believe she has more to show us. And if she won't then she will just get pushed down in the ranking, because this is what the show is about, you either show what you have in store or you'll lose your chance. But until then lets just see what happens :)))

I agree. I felt like they pitied her. Blame it on editing or whatever but the difference in how they treated the solo girl that went before her makes me sort of mad. They didnt give her the chance bc she was a soloist competing against a group of six but then decided to give the solo girl who went second a chance because they were getting emotional. The mentors didnt consider the fact that she was also a soloist, they felt like they just needed to put a soloist up there.

The performance that she put on was, in my opinion better than the groups. The girl that danced after hua chiyo's superwoman performance was not as eye catching. It wasn't anything new. May Mon the Mentors aren’t fair at all. The first 3 girls in the part 1 were so good and danced wayyyy better than the Russian girl but the mentors just complimented the Russian girl for her basic dance moves that didn’t even give no one any goosebumps.

Sometimes, you need a loud voice to help wake up and I believe that's what Tao played a role in. If you are someone on the show, then no matter what the circumstances, you must try your best to stand out so that viewers can remember you. Doesn't matter if you are scared or shy, if you want to be someone on stage, you have to go up and face the fears.
Many people picked Curley and said YaoHui doesn't deserve the seat. Don't you think it is too over? Curley sings well of course, but what she did is performing a song while YaoHui is telling her story. To be honest, YaoHui's performance touched me more. I read the comments before watching the full episode and many people where talking about how tao was a drama queen and he was overreacting but seriously when I watched it I can't blame him because
1. first of all your already have taken the step to be part the program but now say that you aren't ready, say that you are afraid but at the same time you have nothing to lose plus it's only the first challenge the competition has even properly started
2. second the fact that they would cry without even experiencing how harsh the stage is it kind of made me angry too and I know they had a high pressure on but if they can't take even this much which is fair competition how can they handle what comes afterwards
If you watched tao and you know him it clearly remained him of his past
He and many other singers went on another country without even knowing the language alone at a young age and had to deal with a lot of mistreatment and racism (let's not talk what he went through when he left) while these girls cry because they're afraid and they don't believe they're the best
I repeat that I know that the pressure is high but if they don't try it how high is the opportunity for them to be in the final line up??

I feel like they should evaluate each trainee individually instead as a group, because some trainees in the groups who got a high grade definitely aren’t there yet but they got the high grade because of the group performance. I feel like individual evaluations are better for the trainees too so they can know where they are at and improve from there.
