    Just thrifted one of these and I was worried initially that the fan wasn't working. Thanks for confirming it was normal that it comes on at a certain volume!

    the fact that the thermal paste in the amp is still good after almost 30 years is mind boggling

    Hey, thank you for the upload! I have the same problem with my su-g91, where the left channel cuts out, and I'm going to try the same thing. And thank you for giving me peace of mind about the fan, because I had the same concern as well. Take care, and I really appreciate you taking your time to document this!

    I own this amp and at half volume my floor speakers rattle the walls. A beast of an amp

      It really did sound amazing after I repaired it, I was impressed with how good it sounded with the cheap little speakers I had on the test bench

    My Technics SA-AX920 receiver emitted a very POP from each speaker cabinets and immediately shut off. Once cooled the unit returned to serviceability until again "POP" and unit shut down. Talking with some engineer friends they tell me the outboard cooling fan has stopped working causing the output transistor boards to over-heat and hence the loud "POP" sound and immediate shut-down. I really like the sound of this amplifier driving two Kierksaeter X-79 floor standing speakers I watch being built at their plant in Germany. I would appreciate recommendations for repair to serviceability of the Technics.

    need your help or suggestions....after 30 years my Technics Su-G75 amp went out over the weekend.....I thought it was the fuse, ordered some 6.3amp 125v and nothing happened. Not sure what to do next? It clicks when I hit the power button but nothing turns on....yesterday I hooked everything up and everything works but not the amp...but some how it's passing power to the other components. I also can't seem to find a good stereo repair shop in the Houston, TX area either....everything else works fine...that it came with.... thanks in advance FOR THE HELP!! THIS WAS THE FIRST STEREO THAT I SAVED UP AND BOUGHT MYSELF.

      @@inspectahtech actually no I barely use it…its upstairs in my game room. The last time we turned it on was probably around Christmas. Typically we turn it on throughout the year when we spring clean, etc. to listen to music or if I’m upstairs working.

      @@mickbrown815 I would check for bad soldering joints on the speaker terminal(s)like in my video and then move on to things like bad amp transistors

    SU-G50 with VFD not lighting, no buttons responding, but the relay clicks OK: On the display / button / dial board, found RESET signal low on pin 27 on the 64 pin processor, due to open R923 (220K), and open UN4211 transistor(s), either Q910 or Q912 (replaced both).

    At the 24:00 minute mark, you spoke about lubing up the fan. I have a Technics SA-R477 receiver that the fan makes a noise when you turn it up to high volume. It sounds like a dry fan bearing. Could you provide information on how you lubed the fan motor. Thank you

    • @inspectahtech
      @inspectahtech  Рік тому

      I would just use the smallest amount of liquid lube you can unill its quite (not wd40)

    I changed a variable resistor of the equalizer that went bad for another with a close value and I've had it using it for several years, after doing this one channel worked a little lower, but today I let the audio of one channel come out from the amplifier. It is not cable or speakers and even if I turn off the equalizer, the audio from one channel of the amplifier no longer comes out. Please how can I repair this

    • @inspectahtech
      @inspectahtech  Рік тому

      I would check for bad solder joint on that channel first, it seems to be a common issue
