  • Join me for a spectacular clifftop walk on the the unique island of Santorini in Greece. I'll be hiking from the town of Imerovigli along a cliff created by a volcanic explosion, to the gorgeous village of Oia, one of the most photographed places in Greece, if not the world.
This walk is about enjoying the spectacular views, but I'll also be taking photos wherever I can along the way. I'll also give you some tips on how to make the most of this incredible walk.

Of course I still love traveling to Japan and I will continue to create more content from Japan in the future.

Right off the bat, the water is so blue and the area is so beautiful!

Absolutely spectacular. The stills of the various churches are beautifully composed and add a whole other dimension to the video. And being a geology geek, I greatly appreciated your commentary. I hope the trip back was a bit easier than getting there. Thanks Nick, it's a great video. Cheers Ted

Many thanks for your kind words, Ted. Glad you liked the geology references. Fortunately we got the last 2 seats on the bus back. Much easier than walking there!

What a great walk Nick! Made me want to know more about the place - like where does the tradition of painting buildings white come from? The rocky scrubby appearance looked unlike anything I’ve seen, but then I haven’t been walking over exploded volcanoes before as far as I know! 😂 good to have those tips about avoiding the crowds. On my trips I have been entertained by other travellers taking pictures. People’s interactions with their friends and the places are often interesting in themselves.

Thanks for your comments, Malcolm. Yes, that walk is unique. Really. There was an outbreak of cholera in 1938 and people were ordered to paint their buildings white due to the antibacterial properties of lime wash. Also, summers are scorching hot, so the white helps the passive cooling of the buildings. I should have put that in the script! Ha ha!! Have you heard of the legendary English photographer Martin Parr? He almost built an entire career out of taking pictures of people reacting and interacting on holiday.

What a practical reason for painting the buildings white! And only relatively recently in history terms. I will definitely have to look up Martin Parr - would be interesting to see. Thanks for all the effort you put into these productions Nick.
