Great video! It’s good to see other channels come to the same conclusion I did on these machines. Griot’s made some great machines for the average DIYer and professional’s alike. I definitely plan to order some Urofiber pads very soon. Spring is upon us and that means detailing is very close. Nice job brother!

Excellent review. Looks like a G8 is in my future. I got the 25ft cord with my G9 and that was the best decision! I'm really liking the Griots products. I'm starting to change over to all microfiber pads. Like the cutting ability and polishing results. Smurfette does an awesome job as the co-host! Definitely a ⭐️ in the making!
Thanks, Dj! 25ft cord is definitely a sweet option! Haha I too am loving MF pads! They cut so much better and much more quickly. Finish out great, speeds up the process. Only time I'll go back to foam is to finish out on certain paints👍 and thanks! She is a natural! 😄
That folding stand Meanbee talk about is what the body shops use. On the G8 do you have to change the grease like the Harbor freight? I'm liking the G8 more after reading all the reviews and the Warranty.
J, yeah I looked it up and looks like what the guys have next door😄 better than a table though!! To my knowledge like the G9, the G8 should have the same Mobil1 grease in the head which is a food quality grease. They say to just leave it. And definitely! The G8 is worth it! So is the G9 IMO. Same warranty and same quality. I think the issue they had was with the power cord, not the actual unit. The G8/G9 combo to me, is an absolute perfect combo for the weekend warriors/enthusiast but can definitely be good for a detailer as well.

Hi PapaSmurf: After more than a year that you got the G8... Do you recommend it? Any problems you have observed? In advanced, thank you for your feedback.
Alberto, absolutely recommend it. Still going strong 💪 no issues. Use it on every polish job too. I find speed 5-6 is where I'm at with it. On pillars I'll drop it to 4 but 5-6 is where I'm at most of time. 👍

KBs.. awesome! I think your gonna love the combo! The G8 is such a great machine! I'll know more once I put it to the test but man it's nice! The 2" and 3" make it versatile. I'm excited to put through some paces!
Awesome vid on an awesome machine!! I like the fact that it comes with the 2" backing plate.. I may be wrong..but I think its the only 3" polisher that comes equipped with that option 👍🏻😀
Thanks man!!! I think your right. The 2" option really makes it versitile! Plenty of power! I love the G8 👍 and I don't think any other polisher comes with that option either. For 129 bucks. It's a steal.
I think FAB did a video and showed the 3" and 2", I just got the G9 and trying to get everything together to do a paint Enhancement on a 08 Honda grey paint. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated.
@@samueladams584 Fab indeed just did a video on it as well!! Fantastic machine. As far as your 08 Honda. The grey is going to look nice! Start light, depending on how bad defects are. Maybe start with a light pad an polish.. then just check your work. If your happy with that combination stick with it. If not, move up either in pad or polish to something with a little more cut. And repeat.. Honda I think is pretty soft clear so light pressure and keep arm speed consistent 👍👍👍

If you ever happen to see this polisher on sale, let me know. I need a 3" polisher and think this one is better than the Maxshine. Will be doing more research on it.
Joaquin, is it possible to do a whole car with the G8.... Yes. However it would take a LONG time.. here is how I see it. The G8 runs 130 bucks. I understand not having money however the G9 is 150.. save the extra 20 and buy the G9👍
I'd definitely go M8 man. You don't need the expensive stuff.. I started with a 50 dollar harbor freight polisher. That I still use to this day!!! Got fantastic results. Take your time. Play around and have fun!
You could definitely put a 4" pad on it but it will hang over the backplate for sure. I recently used the G8 with the Rupes pads. The are just under 4" but taper down to 3" to fit the backplate. I really really enjoyed those Rupes style. The G9 can only go down to 5" to my knowledge. I'd look into some Rupes pads or something similar👍👍

Cute little kidz, power toolz,...and polishing...win.you poor bastard...been down this road...boys are icky. ....ugghh .been there...nice machine thougb.
Hahahaha!!! Ima have to teach her so she gets distracted by detailing rather than boys🤣 yes, the G8 is a nice machine👍
Nice review! The G8 is very smooth and well balanced, unlike the G9, in my opinion.
Thanks Mark! I have to Agree, the G8 is more balanced than the G9. Just feels smoother.. still love my G9 though! 😄 worked awesome on the C10 I did! As always, I appreciate the comment my friend!
PapaSmurf918 don’t get me wrong, the G9 is a beast for an 8mm. The G8 feels like Rupes smoothness.
@@c6z061 haha man I've never held or even used a rupes but if it's like the G8 then heck yeah! I'm really excited to do another correction with my G9/G8 combo.
Very good review video. Looks like the G9 and G8 are a winning combination.
Thanks Ryan! Definitely a great combination👍 plus they just look awesome together!😄
After hearing you had good luck with new G9 I went ahead and pulled the plug on the G9 and the G8,
Getting ready for some correcting and polishing for upcoming spring :)
Waiting to try Uro-Fiber pads.
Thanks for your videos ….
KBs.. awesome! I think your gonna love the combo! The G8 is such a great machine! I'll know more once I put it to the test but man it's nice! The 2" and 3" make it versatile. I'm excited to put through some paces!
How has the G8 been holding up so far? Looking at getting this one.
Derrick, not one issue to date. Solid unit for me and my usage. 👍👍
@@PapaSmurf918Detail Good video and thanks for your input!
@@derrickg5612 Thanks man! Appreciate that! Not a problem 🤝✊
@@PapaSmurf918Detail I have some Meg's ultimate compound, I was wondering if I should get Meg's ultimate polish or Griot's Boss finishing sealant for 1st attempt paint Enhancement.. hard to find recommendations for noobs trying to get a feel for it. I picked up some Lake Country white Polish CCS pads, LC blue CCS finesing pad, LC orange light cutting CCS pad, Griot's red, black and orange pads, and 2 Griot's microfiber fast cutting pads.
Wassup Papasmurf, good video much appreciated, your assistant has bright future as detailer and UA-cam reviewer, 😃👏🏽👍🏽, keep the vids coming
Do you think this would work well for a touring motorcycle? Lots of small places and plastic bodywork to get into.
Chris I think it would work but I'd probably go with the GR3. It's a Rotory. Has extensions too. 1, 2, and 3" pads👍👍
If you ever happen to see this polisher on sale, let me know. I need a 3" polisher and think this one is better than the Maxshine. Will be doing more research on it.
No problem man! I absolutely love this G8!!! For 130 it's a great deal as it comes with the 2" backplate as well!👍✊
Hi!! I just can Buy one. I have not much money. Do you think I can polish a whole car with the g8? Please I need your advice!
Joaquin, is it possible to do a whole car with the G8.... Yes. However it would take a LONG time.. here is how I see it. The G8 runs 130 bucks. I understand not having money however the G9 is 150.. save the extra 20 and buy the G9👍
@@PapaSmurf918Detail tks!! Im from México and the difference here is almost 80 bucks. 😥
@@PapaSmurf918Detail I really appreciate your help
I'd definitely go M8 man. You don't need the expensive stuff.. I started with a 50 dollar harbor freight polisher. That I still use to this day!!! Got fantastic results. Take your time. Play around and have fun!
@@PapaSmurf918Detail thanks you so much!!!
nice video
Thank you! Appreciate that! 👍 thanks for commenting👌
Could I put a 4 inch pad on this and use it as my only polisher or should I get the g9
@@PapaSmurf918Detail I got the g9 with 5 inch backing plate and a couple of the rupes yellow and white pads I'm going to use it for now and later on get the g8 for smaller areas. Thanks for the reply
@@clapzy2943 Awesome! That's a great combination for sure. You will love the Rupes pads👍👍 no problem man! If you have any other questions feel free to drop in an ask!🤙🤙🤙
@@PapaSmurf918Detail how many pads do you normally go through on a car I got 4 of each. Also any coupound or polish recommendations i ordered meguires d300 and d301 for now
Great video, great father! Have you tried a 5" backing plate yet?
Thank you I appreciate that! So the 3" comes with a 3" plate and 2" plate which both work awesome! The 5" plate is for the bigger G9 which I prefer On all of my polishers. 👍👍
@@PapaSmurf918Detail so the 5" will not work properly on the G8?
@@paranorml the 5" plate in not ment for the G8 no. It may screw on however it won't be very effective.. The G9 is what you want with the 5 inch backplate 👍
On your practice panel, did you just go for it with the compound and skip any clay step? Thx. Thinking about picking this G8 up.
Tundra Whisperer, In this video it doesn't show me decontaminate it however I did shoot a test hood prep video🤙 I washed it, then used an iron remover, and then my clay towel.. got it free of contamination before polishing 👍👍
The G8 is a absolute winner in my books!!!✊
When you say locknut what are your meaning? I have the lock button on g9 but don’t use it. What do they do?
TRH SPORTS, when I said lock it I ment lock the trigger. Sorry I didn't go a little more in depth. Yes, the trigger is designed so you can lock the trigger down and let go.. it's like cruise control for polishers! Lol
Awesome review with the G8 . The G8 didn't not stall when you put some weight on it . Your daughter did a great job giving us the information about the G8 . Where did you get the I do buffing pads from ?
Thanks Steve! Appreciate it bro! Yeah I was surprised Cause I was leaning down on that thing and it was not slowing down. Way more pressure than you'd ever need on any paint lol. I got my Uro 50/50 pads from Detailed image 👍
You know what would be troll funny is to have your daughter do a How To polish for begginers to make fun of us noobs lol
🤣🤣 oh man! I'm sure she would love to shoot a how to vid!😄
I'll take some 'Gritos' please. Check your title spelling.
🤣🤣🤣 whoops!!! Guess I shouldn't upload half asleep LOL Thanks man!
