    I live in Hawke’s Bay...you must have visited on one of the rare days when the sun wasn’t shining! Totally agree with your choice of places to eat. Holly Bacon is an institution and their produce is second to none. You needed some golden syrup on your fried bread Thomas...yum, yum! Craggy Range is close to where I live and I was unaware of their US diner-style burger menu...so thanks for that...we will be paying them a visit for sure. Keep up the great filming and thank you for show casing what regional New Zealand has on offer 💕

      I think so re the sun! Lost count of the amount of locals saying “well it’s normally sunny here” 😂😀 The rain didn’t put us off at all though and we had such a ball filming and eating in the region. We absolutely loved it. We can’t wait to return to film more and hopefully see the elusive sun. How neat was the diner option at Craggy Range. Since we filmed they’ve stopped doing it but we believe it may return which would be amazing. Thank you so much for watching this one and we’re so glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Thomas 😀 PS isn’t Holly Bacon the best. You’re so lucky living close to that.

    *_bacon and egg roll_* - Yikes! That bread. Poor egg didn't stand a chance I'm sure. I love a hard crust bread but not the way it's used here. Hand ripped with the seafood chowder from the previous video would be ideal. 😂
    *_boil up_* - Have you two tried pork spine soup in Thailand? Sucking the meat off the bones is not only delicious but satisfying. Haha!
    *_winery_* - Of course Sheena opted for the fried chicken. 😀 Please tell me Thomas did NOT switch to a non-alcohol beer. They never taste great.

    Love all the videos. We like that you all share history of the area. It would be great to learn more of the history of the food a bit more though. Things like where they get their ingredients.
    Also like to understand better where you all are at locations. Maybe a map of the area. This way we can follow your travels more. But also, when my wife and I visit we can see about visiting those areas
    We watch your shows religiously and love the information you share. Thanks so much!

      Thanks so much for watching and the support guys. We’re so glad you enjoy the videos. We like to give as much detail as possible so people feel like they can get something more out of our videos. Where the ingredients are from is something we’ll talk about if we know it but often that’s not info we’re able to find out sadly. We do like to give the history of the dish though if possible and if it’s interesting.
      Location wise I sometimes play with maps but we find most people don’t seem to mind about the exact location so much. To counter that we always put all details in the description so people can easily check out the locations. I’m starting to play more with maps though (you may have seen the map in this video (near the start)). Thanks so much for your comment and for watching our content.

    Let's not talk about the hike that almost made us miss out on the winery😅🍷. Burgers and bacon a match made in heaven love the concept of the Diner experience because why shouldnt a burger be paired with a nice Wine. I actually would love to see something like that in the Yarra Valley instead of the wineries all doing the same style of food, showcasing local cheese, meats and produce can be done in a simple burger.👍

      😂 and how we trudged in with mud all over our jeans 😝 I was so stressed we’d miss our booking because of a hike!!! I reckon the concept is awesome! Ok guys you have to answer a couple questions. 1) what are the things I call French fries here in the states usually called in New Zealand because 2) why did Sheena continually call them fries while Thomas consistently called them chips? I have two guesses but I also guess the second one is closer to the truth... either 1) somehow Sheena has ended up more familiar with using the term French fries or fries based on her eating history we don’t know or 2) Sheena is purposefully choosing to use the term this “American” diner menu used to be respectful of the establishments ethos and Thomas is just sharing from their regular words so that they’re both respectful and true to their own norms.
    I’d love to hear your answers!
    Also it’s a measure of how good this video is that all I could focus on as I ended the video was the last site while I AM AN ABSOLUTE BACON BEAST! And I literally didn’t remember that you’d had that experience at the beginning although THAT experience also looked beyond my wildest dreams! I owe it to reading the comments to realize or re remember that! I went and watched again just to re appreciate all this video had to offer! Thank you two so much for making this! Luv you two and all you share!!! ❤️👏

    • @ChasingaPlate
      @ChasingaPlate  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Jaci! Hahaha number 2 is pretty bang on. Chips are what we generally call them but I would always call a thin chip or French fry, fries -but if you called them chips everyone would know what you meant. Also like you say, I was adhering more to the ethos of the food experience we were having and I know you folks would never call them chips 😄 Back in the day, you would never have fries on a menu, they’d always be chips but with the rise of American style food here, fries are a lot more common 😄 Although you’d never find fries nor call them that if you were ordering chips from a takeaway shop to go with your fish for example 😄 Haha hope that makes sense. I guess if you were referring to fries here people would always assume you meant shoestring fries 🍟 So, so happy you enjoyed this video! Hahaha we are bacon fiends too- bet you would have loved this bacon- when we cooked up their traditional cuts in the van, the rind crisped up like crackling- it was amazing 😍 Thanks so much for your amazing support Jaci! Cheers, Sheena
