I just spent an hour listening to many artists singing this song. He does it justice. He is amazing- just the best version I have ever heard. not bad for a 50+ yr old man. He has my admiration & gratitude.
Everyone must know that this beautiful song composed by the legendary musition Michel Legrand. His mother was armenian and he was raised by his armenian grandparents ,who were armenian genocide survivors. I am armenian myself and we are very proud of him!
This song's words breaks me up - brings me to tears. My dearest and much beloved French partner of over twenty years Annie Huet used to, when we were younger, sing this song to me in French. Now I am 82 and lonely. She's only 75 and she is in a nursing home suffering with what one could diagnose as this song's title.
I loved this song since I saw the movie and bought the album back in 1968. I am now 67 and the words make a lot of sense. All of my friends have gone away, either through death or by simply vanishing into time. I guess I shall finish this song alone.
Wow. I just wrote that on my FB page sharing this. That this song, this version only, moves me to tears. Thanks for sharing that touching story. Good luck.
Not only The Thomas Crown Affair comes right into mind, but also the class and sultriness of it is just intoxicating. This has got to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to. Sting never disappoints, excellent version.
Every time I listen to this lyrics and music reminds me of the many women I loved in my life , now they are just half remembered names and faces and my hair is turning grey...no remorses just slight resentment..🤔🤔🤔
Dear George, I really don;t know you but I found myself identified with your comment. I always think of all the people who once touched my heart and there's always this green-yellowmelacholy around them
I have to say that Sinne Eeg sings my favorite version of this song, except for Noel Harrison. There are certain songs that hit me hard the first time I hear them and are so indelible that other versions can’t compete, and this song is one of them....and I was only about 8 years old when I first heard it.
So sexy, beautiful voice and interpretation.. master Sting! Listen this song with video movie 1968 of Steve Mc Queen.. wonderful !! Bye from Cinecity Rome
If your a spirtual person you don't have to be high to understand this song. Actually its a very male thinking pattern, peppered with everything and then the gem of his realty surfaces.
As I'm wondering if it's not the best of all beautiful male interpretation & musical version existing on UA-cam, I included it all in a playlist with "most popular and listened on UA-cam" option selected, so anyone can check his own preference : bit.ly/2goxPYK Interesting to listen and learn the lyrics ;)
armegaz it's a shame, this song is French and the translation isn't exact, take a look at "les moulins de mon coeur" (by Lou, the best version I seen so far)
Anabody,anywhere can figure out chords of song, I have tried diferent app, -IT is close, but something is missing: Does anybody know right;precise chord of that jazz version of that wonderfull song, Thanks;
Sting is good at his craft in i love all of his music from the days of the police and rite up to now,he did a brilliant good job of windmills of your mind, but i still think knowle did the best, no disrespect sting.
Thank you for posting this video--the lyrics are phenomenal aspect of this song! Just wanted to note that it is "On an ever-spinning REEL" (like a film reel), not "wheel"
Comment from Japan. There are three mistakes in this lyrics. 1, minutes on it's face...should be on its face 2, to a tunnel of it's own... should be tunnel of its own 3, walking allong ...should be along.
There is no windmill in this mind. No more responses to anything. As I speak now I speak not to anyone known but I speak to what's out there beyond who I already know.
agree, couldnt find better either, but some other old school versions are at least interesting. the base and nice rhodes here in this arrangement makes it very very nice xD
no doubt, he's the best.

Some songs can have that effect upon you. Hope you are content in the circumstances.

I agree!! This is definitely the best version! It is hauntingly beautiful and Sting 's voice makes it even more beautiful.
Billy Paul s rendition definitely competes with this one

Sting's version still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it here...
2020 - This song feels almost magical.

After listening to most of the verison of this song, Sting does it the best. The musical arrangement makes the song invade your soul.
Love Sting's version of one of the most haunting, beautiful songs ever written.
Thomas Crown Affair brought me here. This song is wonderful.
The Thomas Crown Affair brought me here lol
Me as well :)
Thank God that Pierce Brosnan didn't try to sing this tune in the film LOL! ;-)
Me too
Me too, lol
Me too but I like better Noel Harrison’s version ...came to compare 😂
I have to say that Sinne Eeg sings my favorite version of this song, except for Noel Harrison. I can listen to this version over and over. So beautiful xxx
masterpiece
!!! what a good song
Noel harrison does it the best. Because he did it first.
Sting has infused his version with the most enticing energy, his husky voice is the best.
One of my favorite covers of this timeless work...
One of Sting's underrated cover tunes--So eloquently and poignantly sung by my favorite male artist of all time! ;-)
Did this beautiful song really need the Best Western Lounge treatment?
The clicking is intrusive and irritating, and the verbal is slurred, too much, and he missed the key a few times too. Not the version for me.
Sting does a nice version, but I still like the original Noel Harrison version better. It's tremendously hard to better a hit original.
Sting has the best version of this song.
Beautiful song.
Awesome. Nice to hear sting sing this.
so beautiful version! thanks for posting!
!!!!!
If you are not into jazz then you'd feel it's off. you like simple chords, that's why
You should hear Streisand do this one. Haunting beyond words.
So sexy, beautiful voice and interpretation.. master Sting! Listen this song with video movie 1968 of Steve Mc Queen.. wonderful !! Bye from Cinecity Rome
my forever fav song.
If you've ever seen the Thoms Crown affair, then you went down the rabbit hole to find this song. Enjoy!❤
I am in love💕 with this song. Awesome job sting🎤
Anyone know if Stevie Wonder ever did a version of this - I imagine the music would be fair identical, only he'd be singing it an octave higher...
I could listen to this forever!!!
how is it possible to sing the song like that?
great piece by great musician/singer!
I must admit that this is has to be the best version of this beautiful timeless classic.
Tuhle klasiku nahrála Hana Hegerova na svou poslední desku. Nádhera!
ThanksFor Sharing theSong with theLyrics
😇
this Sting's version is painted dramatically with the music part , not the vocal.
Thomas Crown affair!!!!
If your a spirtual person you don't have to be high to understand this song. Actually its a very male thinking pattern, peppered with everything and then the gem of his realty surfaces.
Well said!

Actually, the title of that song is "Russians" (it's one of my favorites >w

If you like acoustic songs by Sting, listen to "Antiqcool" "Girl In A Room" Just google it. Free to download from many websites.
☆I like ... so good his voice☆
Sorry guys, the jury is out. Sting has the best version.
I totally agree!
I second that agreement! (Just saw the movie again hehe)
armegaz it's a shame, this song is French and the translation isn't exact, take a look at "les moulins de mon coeur" (by Lou, the best version I seen so far)
Twd89500 WRONG, Sting still the best! French version SUCE
Wow what a genius... But wrong traduction it's a shame... Poor little kid
hace parte de la banda sonora de la pelicula The Thomas Crown affair y la encuentras en su cd.
Love this song; unique.
Fantastic version of one such a beautiful song! Comments here are so positive! Hvala za ovo postavljanje, good job!
Sting's version is beautiful, yes. But nothing surpasses the original, sung by Noel Harrison in 1969
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
I know! and I'm having such a hard time finding this song to download SMH I can't even find it on Amazon
My Alexa cant even find it!!
It’s on iTunes

i like this version! so powerfull !! i love a smooth jazz!!! great song and great voice!!!! thx!!
That's "Ever-spinning _reel_", isn't it ? "Wheel" makes it a stupid rhyme.
I listened to Noel's version. I like this one much better. But, I'm in love with Sting, so.. lol
Sting is good at his craft in i love all of his music from the days of the police and rite up to now,he did a brilliant good job of windmills of your mind, but i still think knowle did the best, no disrespect sting.
love it
he killed it,
Nothing like as well done as the Noel Harrison original imo
The 'Noel Harrison' version has its merits, but Sting IMHO enhances his own version.
not bad:)
Que hermoso y profundo tema y divino como lo canta Sting. Me encantó. Gracias Michel Legrand por componer este tema .Que en paz descanses

Makes me cry every time.
The Fender Rhodes notes ..so Beautiful !!!!!!
"on a ever spinning reel" not wheel :)

Personne n a jamais fait mieux.chapeau sting.
There is no windmill in this mind. No more responses to anything. As I speak now I speak not to anyone known but I speak to what's out there beyond who I already know.
& Henry Mancini
theys another version i'm trying to find the one the singing is almost whispered just cant remember name of artist.
Words that jangle in your head
Outstanding.
He "got me" as a lifelong fan with his singing on the "Leaving Las Vegas" soundtrack...Henley (Don) did the same...LOL
Rip Micheal legrand
Thanks for the epic lyrics
sting had a song 'russians love their children too.'
Страхотно.
Ti shto idiot?!
very beautiful but the original French version much more beautiful even the wording much nicer in French
Great cover of a brilliant track.
Beautifully ; poetic.
agree, couldnt find better either, but some other old school versions are at least interesting.
the base and nice rhodes here in this arrangement makes it very very nice xD
I like this version, but I like Jose Feliciano's version more.
Jose does a slower version while Sting's version has a slightly faster rhythm...Both versions are very good @JamalofDiaspora.
I should have said 'a little more', because both are masterpieces.
Love this.
