My wife's grandfather, Frank Newton, raced the original at Brooklands. We have a mangled bit of metal presented to him, inscribed by 'E Dept of the Napier Motor Works' celebrating the Napier-FIAT match of August 3rd 1908. A Certificate from the Clerk of the Course notifies Frank that he lapped the circuit at 113.01mph on Whit Monday of that year in another race against the FIATs.
Apparently the first car to drive across South America was a Napier driven from Buenos Aires, I guess over the Andes somehow. I would love to find more on this story as it was driven by a relative.
