The poppy is used because the poppy was the first thing to grow on the battlefield, at the end of the First World War.

The poppy is worn for Remembrance of those who died to keep us safe. Anyone can wear one. The funds from the sale of the poppy go to The Royal British Legion which is a Charity that helps veterans put their lives back together when they return from war - whether it's because they have been injured physically or need help to recover from mental distress or, if the veteran does not come home, it will help their families.

we did this in the Caribbean as well as children, in fact the more our school uniform was filled with it the better, during this time, everyone who's anyone wears it, I guess this is why I have total respect for military people.

The sculptures are now in the long-term ownership of the Imperial War Museums. The ones in the moat got sold.A moat is a deep, broad ditch, either dry or filled with water, that is dug and surrounds a castle.

I think that all of the poppies that made up the installation were sold, raising millions of pounds which were shared equally amongst six service charities.
