Tapi scene music kugiran britain kemudiannya agak sendu sehinggalah muncul kugiran 4 org anak muda, BLUR, yg menimba pengalaman touring di US, seiring dgn pelancaran album Nirvana Nevermind (cabaran besar since scene grunge mmg tgh conquer the world waktu tu)
Kemudian gerakan britpop mulai mekar di kota london. Band tumbuh bak cendawan selepas hujan. Suede, echobelly, elastica, the verve (bitter sweet symphony), sampaikan Shampoo (oh oh we in trouble) pun ride the movement waktu tu..
Oh ye, when we refer to londoners, kebanyakannya adalah middle class group, pakai bucket hats, adidas samba & baju fred perry ye.
Sesuatu party tu xkan lengkap kalau xde gate crasher. Band Oasis, founded by 2 beradik dari manchester, with their no nonsense, rock n roll star, laddish attitude, came into the scene. Dan fan menyu jgn nak claim sgt, 2 beradik ni fan tegar mensiti bkn menyu. Tak caya cuba tgk match2 penting city, mesti noel gallagher akan hadir.
So mmg berlaku beberapa series of banter between Blur & Oasis, seakan cerminan kepada perseteruan antara north vs south, working class vs middle class, di kaca tv mahupun di majalah2 hiburan. Perlu diingat populariti blur tgh berada di kemuncak waktu tu, sehinggalah kemunculan album oasis “What’s the story Morning Glory” yg memuatkan lagu “anthemic” mereka Wonderwall, yg sekaligus terus memadamkan dominasi kumpulan blur.
Oh ye, lagu Stand By Me yg kami cover ni bkn dlm album morning glory pun, tp “Be Here Now” yg muncul waktu hujung2 era kejatuhan britpop. Tp kenangan abam minat lagu ni sbb dulu kt USM ada sorg senior abam, nama dia toncit, slalu pasang lagu ni kuat2 kt speaker altec lansing beliau. Mana la pegi si toncit ni skrg hahahaha….
Next time abam akan citer mcmana Blur buat comeback balik..
