I don't get the hatred for Digimon Frontier/Digimon Season 4: this is my favorite season. Out of all the Digivolutions, Agnimon is my favorite.

Part of it is that it came right after tamers which is the best in alot of people's mind
I don't get the hate for any of the first 5 seasons except maybe 02.

I understand that at least 50% of why its my favorite is because of nostalgia but honestly the other 50% is just pure love for it.
Unlike most people being disgusted at the fact of no partner Digimon I thought it was really cool and loved the change of pace! It takes all the good parts of Digimon and all the good parts of Power Rangers and mashes em together!

I think it goes back to what Billiam said on his review of this season. People hated it because it was different and didn't give it a full chance at all. Instead they just raged quit just because they didn't like the kids turning into Digimon and I find that to be unfair.

I know! I know! Not many guys loved this series but hear me out...
I loved the whole idea of instant evolution using a Digisoul / DNA Charge and boy it was so badass where Masaru / Marcus literally punches the hell out of digimons and gets to evolve Agumon with the Digisouls / DNA charge! Also the sequence of Digisoul Evolution and Burst Evolution were awesome!
The story itself maybe odd for digimon fans but i loved the story and the characters. Sure the pacing and the design was odd but it’s overall great! The sad part is they didn’t get a feature film. Sad...
We just got done with a Digimon season with "armor upgrades" and "combination evolutions" y'all.
As a kid,I think frontier was a beautiful world and *becoming digimon*, something that became recognized and loved, seemed like a very cool idea!
While not without it's recognizable flaws through the eyes of hindsight.
I can't believe you were also into Pokemon and Digimon. I'm one of those people that actually grew up with Frontier, and as such I will forever have an extreme bias towards it. I'll always love it, and I'm glad to hear people talk about it!
Having OPs in both english and Japanese be equally as awesome is a worthy feat in it of itself.
I still like the fact they transform into the Digimon. Just imagine Red from Pokémon shooting electricity like a Pikachu

This is my fav Digimon Season beside Tamers, way better than the first Two Digimons or any other following.
I'm loving the expansion of various media through the channel upgrade of Dream Bomb. Personally I'm a huge fan of Digimon, Frontier included, despite the fact I never grew up with it and have 0 nostalgia. It's just an enjoyable and genuinely entertaining show. Your thoughts were enjoyable to watch, and I really look forward to more!

Plot could be a lot more interesting, and I feel Bandai (did they do this?) just wanted to finish the series as fast as they can.
Bokomon, Neemon and DigiTwins are of course my favorite. Why? And you have to ask that. They’re just toooo good!!

Lucemon, and frontier is my favorite season because it did so many new things. I can see why people wouldn't like it. I enjoyed the characters and story. That said in terms of writing, I think Tamers takes the gold medal.
I love it when Lucemon shows up. Low key, I wish we’d get a season where he’s the main partner digimon, but the audience doesn’t realize it him because he’s in his in training level for a few episodes but is really powerful even then. The theme of the season would be redemption and that everyone is capable of good and evil

I loved this season, it’s honestly my favorite. I just liked the spin they did on it. It was a risky move. I didn’t know people didn’t like it. As a kid everyone liked it. I guess it’s one people didn’t like if they were older back then, or rewatched it?
Digimon Frontier was the first series i watched on the internet and the digimon series i grew up with!
Being able to turn into a Digimon really was the coolest thing about Frontier. You got a small taste of that in Tamers, but here it really is you as the Digimon, not you combining with another Digimon to become one.
Agumon/Greymon, just the whole line is my favorite.

While Frontier isn't one of my favorites, I like for what it was. I hope we get another Super Sentai/Power Rangers-styled Digimon season or even a Kamen Rider-styled Digimon season.

Luckliy most Anime-openings were JUST translated in Germany back in the day. So yeah. Mostly good openings early. Frontier was pretty awesome because it had that sentai-aspect.
Yeah, we definelty had it better than the americans and their Pirate Rap, though in this case i wouldn´t have minded them using the translated english version instead!

My favorite Digimon is probably Terriermon. A small cute Digimon that turns into a large mecha.

Of all Digimon Dukemon and his X evolution is my favorite of the bunch. Doesn't help Tamers was my favorite over 01 and 02. Still nice to see you branching out to stuff like this

I’d say otherwise, but Appmon was able to keep itself together better than Adventure tri. Definitely have to watch episode 45 of Appmon. That was a Digimon anniversary episode.

Digimon Frontier is Just CrazyAwesome.....
Its the most innovative idea which had so much potential; but it was 1. Too rushed in the end and 2.) One sided; only Takuya and Koji got the powerups while others were rendered almost useless.
Personally, my take is that on frontier is had some issues been ironed out, it wouldn't be hated
1. Get some of the other characters more development, mainly JP, Zoe, and Koiji, Tommy actually got kinda lucky, but a little development would be also nice. The final arc is as hated as it is because it gets obsessed with Takuya and Koji, But have some episodes get replaced, and be more around some arcs around the other members of the gang, it would be a lot better
2. FILLER, LOTS AND LOTS OF FILLER, I think there is a way to balance world building and the main episodes, But I think had some filler episodes be removed, and have it be around some character interaction, (for example, the episode with tommy in the toyland) be either cut, or replaced with something like tommy interacting with JP or zoe more, and apply that formula with the other characters, there by making them more of a character, have some good diolouge, basically just make it so these characters aren't just "oh they are in the group" it would be helped a lot
3. Koichi, I feel really bad that he gets so little development, I think the best thing the show could've done was make him more of a presence, maybe set him up as an early antagonist, with him as duskmon using his position to cause conflict around the group, and maybe even attack them earlier then what actually happened. then once koichi does join the group, there could be more of an awkward dynamic, with him and the original group not being super trusting, while koji is trying to get close to him, eventually with the original group coming to be friends with him, there by making his sacrifice, and all other moments around him more impactful
4. the unified spirit evolution, I straight up hate the 4th evolution the group gets, since it sidelines everyone, except takuya and Koji, I think instead of the unified spirit stuff, they shoulda gave the fusion evolutions to everyone, including koichi, sorta like how when in digimon adventure 1, everyone gets a ultimate digivolve, but some get it latter then others, and there are sometimes a gap between episodes until they get it, that way it doesn't sideline the 4 other members of the group, without making it unfair to takuya and koji in return.
Ultimately, I think this season is a very hit or miss season. you either like it, or you hate it, and I don't think its the kids transforming into the digimon stuff that ruins it, but rather other internal issues. Personally, I can appreciate what its worth, and I would recommend it even if one person doesn't exactly like it, just because its a very unique take on the digimon concept. But had some stuff be ironed out, the story would be a lot cleaner, and the characters might be able to have a better time to shine
(also to respond to a point you made about the characters not getting development so that kids could relate to them, I actually think even if that's true, that's stupid, the cast in digimon 1 had TONs of issues, and were fleshed out in their own ways, and even if you don't relate tot hem, as a kid, I could still appreciate the characters. its not fair to the characters, and it hurts the script more, you don't need to relate to a character to like them)
The opening of this anime is just lit it's on *FIRE*
Takuya was about to get hit by the isekai truck.. But goes on the train and gets isekaied anyway.
i love Digimon Frontier it's one of my all time favorite shows and one of my all time favorite animes
In my opinion my first and favourite digimon series is data squad the English op was amazing Marcus Daimon and his partner digimon agumon gave birth to my favorite agumon line being the shine greymon path and introduced burst evolution and I love rise greymon the ultimate of this agumon line and has an arm that is a revolver then you have palamon who can go into rosemon and gaglamon who can go into marange galgamon abd there burst modes are beautiful and the introduction of the human digimon hybrids
I did not expect this but I enjoy this. You should have continued after season two because was honestly the best season. Too which everyone agrees. Now my favorite Digimon is Candlemon, Giulemon and Agumon.
1) My favorite Digimon is Agumon/Greymon/WarGreymon. I'm a basic kind of guy.
2) I'll never understand the hate Frontier gets. It's Digimon + Super Sentai. That's awesome.
It's my second favorite series after Adventure.
I honestly never cared for Tamers, Data Squad or Fusion.
I haven't watched Universe: App Monsters so I have no opinion on it yet.
But I feel like Tamers is overrated Frontier is unfairly maligned underappreciated.
I really liked this series as it was different and the world seems amazing
I remember that as a kid i really loved the series. Maybe not much as it's predecessors, but i still liked it. As a adult now, i still have some nostalgic feelings lingering in me. However i think if i would watch it now again, then it wouldn't be enjoyable, because there would be a lot of things probably that i would criticize as a older person.
Frontier is the most under rated season of Digimon just because they tried something different by dropping partners. Meanwhile it has one of the best worlds and best main group of the entire series.
Fav Digimon Renamon, then Leomon.
Frontier is my favorite. Tamers I agree is objectively the beat with its second half, but Frontier is my favorite for its uniqueness and fun.
Never really cared much for the partner aspect of digimon. Same for pokemon where I'm there only for gym and league matches.

Even when this season aren't as good as Digimon tamers, I always considers this season better than 02(cuz digimon 02 (and it's sequels) are closest thing other fictional works(outside mundane ones) got similar treatment to current Pokemon anime) not only this digimon season give Digidestined superpowers(even when digimon frontier isn't first digimon season that give digidestined superpowers, the honor goes to Tamers, but Tamers!digidestined Superpowers doesn't negate digimon partners, they fuse with digimon partners to get superpowers)
No wonder I can't hate any Digimon seasons past first 2 ones, even when they lacks favorite characters of mine
Oh yeah, when I make Digimon Adventure 02 follows alternate canon in my mega-crossover, I make 01-02 digidestined kick ass harder than even frontier digidestined(from having Superpowers in their human forms)
Fun Fact: The German version of those Digimon themes are considered to be the best.
Is it really hated ? But it was the season I watched first and that got me hooked to the show. I remember it very fondly.

I like frontier but id still have to rank it among the lower end of digimon, even though its constantly rising due to toei milking adventure with bad sequels.
This season has one of the biggest cases of "Main duo syndrome" where only taichi and yamato got their mega, only daichi and ken get imperialdramon and then this:
Frontier's final forms require the remaining kids to give their spirits to the main duo to reach the final and pre final forms.
Both Junpei and Tommy have some very promising plot threads set up for them but they get resolved or thrown out far too quickly.
Takuya, Koji and Koichi have so much more focus on them then the rest.
There is still a lot to enjoy with frontier, it has music that does justice to the digimon name in the form of the opening Fire, the character themes Salamander for Takuya and With broken wings for Koichi and the final insert theme Last Element.
The world is very interesting and quirky following more in the style of adventure rather than the iteration shown in Tamers.
Story otherwise is rather standard digimon fanfare with a lot of the tropes you've come to expect.
There is also the part where the main characters get their asses beat by the 2 royal knights for what feels like 7 episodes.
Since, in your opinion, you find the Human Spirits' design okay aside from Chakmon, what about the other Legendary Spirits?

I know some fans will get angry at this but I think Frontier is just as good as Tamers. In Tamers they had biomergeing. Digimon and human becoming a different digimon.
I also among the fans that think frontier is in the past before tai and the others. The reason behind the theory is that vemon, arildillomon and hawkmon are very common in front tier but not in digimon 02.
Well I mean I guess you have a lot of people that got their own opinions and me personally I kind of love the way that they interpreted on how their transform into their transformation I was a big fan of the regular Digimon but when it came to frontier for some odd reason I enjoyed it better than the others I don't know why I just did and I thought that turning in to a digimon instead of bonding was a little bit more kooler because if you think about it the regular Digimon was basically like the spirit just like frontier cousin all honesty if that wasn't the case they could have bonded with any Digimon that they chose instead of the Digimon choosing them inclining that that was the soul spirit that was part of them maybe that's why I liked it frontier a little bit better cuz they literally just put it out there as that

Bro I was looking into some of my childhood cartoons and this one hit me hard cuz the theme song I enjoyed the writing was okay but overall I like all the characters and what each one of them represented to the group so yeah I agree this is one of my favorite ones even though it wasn't the best some people would say but I enjoyed it and I thought that it was one of the best ones they ever did especially because of the theme song lol it is let 💯🔥🔥

I have a love hate relationship with this season because I always hated that they didn't have partner Digimon aside from neemon and the one with the book. ( Please probably didn't help that neemon was annoying af)
I love Digimon, especially Digimon Tamers. I just like Tamers more than any other of the Digimon... even Adventure.
Tbh Digimon Data Squad was the only season I cared about.

Frontier has always been my personal favourite even though I can acknowledge that at least tamers is better written but I will stand by thinking its better than adventure 02 and xros wars/fusion imo
I actually adore the digimon designs and spirit evolutions but they though pad out episodes a bit too often I'll admit
I never hated Digimon frontier this is way better than the original in my opinion my favorite Digimon show will always be Digimon tamers but the serial experiment lain director but this one is second place in my list then the Og version that we all grew up with then Digimon Adventure Reboot is dead last. Digimon ghost game is cool but it’s not finished yet
Even if I am more of a Pokémon guy, I do at least watch the Digimon seasons (even including Appmon). The animé was dubbed in English for Adventure, 02 and later turned to Filipino. Tamers and Frontier were also dubbed in English aired in Cartoon Network (same dubbing as English Kamen Rider I think) and again later in Filipino. I objectively agree Digimon has better writing than Pokémon, but I just love the world of Pokémon as a whole that seeing it from region to region and see how Ash goes in a reality show kind of observation is enjoyable for me.
I like Frontier, although has its issues. While I do prefer partner Digimon, I'm fine with the change they done here. My headcanon at a time was these are the version of original 5 that we saw in Adventures, although of course we got canon version in Tri. I like the characters and Zoe in particular with her Italianisms.
I just hoped they gave other than Takuya and Koji additional forms. It just feels weird having the ability to access while the others can't, especially Zoe's who had a really good looking Hybrid Evolution. The latter third also was a slog to an inevitable conclusion and there were some missed opportunities IMO especially with the villain Spirits. Overall a very enjoyable watch, but much prefer Tamers and Adventures to this (although I kinda like this as much as 02 as a whole).
As much as I like Frontier, i think most of us can agree Tamers is the best series.

Marcosatsu should have reviewed Digimon Tamers first. Then review Digimon Frontier. But I hope that he will review Digimon Tamers after Digimon Data Squad. Digimon Frontier is really good and my favorite top four Digimon series.

I love digimon season 4 it is the second best next to season 3, and I watched Pokémon and digimon and played the games and what I always found was Pokémon had the better games but digimon had the better show, I think all the heat for frontier it's just that people don't like the fact that they change so much
Ok but can you talk about digimon tri please, like it slaps and everyone is hating on it.
The reason why the Heroes of Digimon Frontier can evolve to Digimon, it’s because that something from other world come to the Digital World becomes Data, 0s and 1s, and the Digimon are Data, is the same why the Tamers can do Matrix Evolution in the Digital World and Human World, the red card and the becoming of data.
Oh, and the Digimon have to be called by his Japanese names, the original names, and about the ecosystem in Digital World... Just say that even meat can grow in plants... yeah is stupid, but it’s core, thanks to Digimon World PS1, the Core World called by the fandom
