A trip down Memory Lane....Solihull born and bred....those were the days when people had fun in Mell Square, and in a good way, and people actually talked to each other face to face, instead of texting on a mobile phone!! The fashion those days...luckily we have come a long way since then, lol
40 odd years back i remember the Snooty Fox, Captain Locker and the Lair, no mobiles or internet, these kids on screen here are mostly in their 50s nowadays and this is before Touchwood and the Mell Square fountains were removed, nice for a look back in time...
Most of the shops in Mell Square are different now. M&S, Woolworths, BHS, etc. have all departed. The only shop I can think of that's been there all the time is Hinds the Jewellers - just down from the record shop.
@@bensims7501 All over Birmingham and west midlands is very racist and segregated no one mixes or get on people mix with thier own kind. People are uneducated and bigoted.

God remember them days like yesterday
I'd forgotten how busy it used to be, it was sooo quiet there yesterday a week before Xmas!
wonder what happened to that busker..he was pretty good!
Steve (the busker) was in various local bands then went off travelling. Pretty sure he's back in the Midlands now and still playing.
He's in Cornwall, but not for long
Steve Ison was at Sharmans Cross school with him 1972 to 1978
@@TheTilly65 He stole my girlfriend back in 1983 lol
In Moseley, a natural with the guitar, still plays..
What was the record shop - was it Discovery records?
Yes that's Discovery. I spent a fortune in there!
@@TheMenFromUGLY me too, queuing up at opening time when it was a new release I was waiting for!
Why are the records crap?
When we was all right
If that was on a Saturday, I was probably with my dad doing the weekend food shopping, lol.
Mel Square still looks the same after all those years.
No they removed the fountain
@@sdrawkcabUK , I think they removed that fountain about 18 or 20 years ago, I'm guessing?
@@33Crazydude think it was the late 00s... kids kept on putting bubble bath in it and stuff like that
@@sdrawkcabUK, hey, I remember the bubbles too, lol
