Stellar Blade is an ambitious action adventure boasting a masterful boss design and compelling gameplay progression. Between the addictive exploration and finely tuned sense of weight and speed ingrained in each of Eve's swings, it's indisputable that this is a lovingly crafted journey. Even though the side quest content is necessary for attachment yet still mixed in quality, the world is bursting with intrigue for those intrigued by it.

this is true for many game publishers , almost all of the world be selling outfits as micro transactions.
This man played the game with Eve in arguably the most skimpy outfit, and was cool enough to have the footage of Eve in skimpy outfit used for the review. Gotta give a like just for that.

I'm a big fan of Kim Hyung Tae's, ShiftUp's CEO, work on Blade & Soul, I really hope this game comes to PC. I freaking love Nier Automata and both games have same music composer and the fact that both creators met and complemented each other is just so cool. I need this on PC

I remember playing the demo and the game really clicked for me once you got some of her early abilities and it was a blast. Also going by what you said about the side content i'm going to assume some reviews will harp on the lead as there are reviewers who would just barely touch that stuff. Its good to hear you actually put your time into it.

I love it when developers try to make a game inspired by their favorites, without the pretention to reinvent the wheel.
This game seems to overflow with passion and I'm glad it's getting great reviews.

Is it true all the stuff about censorship in Day 1 patch? I've seen a lot of post and screenshots about some changes made to some outfits and a graffiti using racial slur.

This review is just about what I expected from the game based on the footage I've seen so far, and the interviews talking about the game itself with the director, which is a game with a stellar combat system mixed with a lackluster story. And I particularly liked how detailed the reviewer was, since he not only thoroughly explained the combat itself, but the various other things one can do in the game: from the side quests, overall mini games, to even confirming what bonus content awaits the player after completing the game.
Overall, an excellent review, hopefully in the sequel they brush up on the narrative so the game can be stellar in every way.
I'm just glad that this genre (whatever the name is at the moment: character action, hack-and-slash, spectacle fighter, etc.) is getting more attention and love in recent years. Not just from the big ones, like Bayonetta and God of War.
Mainly from newcomers, like Soulstice, Genokids, Enenra, and Stellar Blade here. Possibly Yasuke: A Lost Descendant and Gori: Cuddly Carnage as well, *to a degree*.
Can very much recommend Soulstice. It's a bit tougher to get into compared to Stellar Blade and has some shortcomings, such as a few enemy types and dragging on in the middle. And a divisive combat/traversal mechanic.
The shortcomings are offset by having a very good story and really good combat, where every of the seven total weapons has their own strengths and weaknesses and animation/behavioural differences, plus a lot to offer on the "Devil Trigger" mechanics and a mix of a Style/Special meter.
Genokids seems to be a short but very sweet venture from what i remember reading, where you control a four-man rock band and can switch between the band members for different movesets and Special attacks, and two different weapons for each individual member. Plus some neat stuff like character switching and escaping stuns by switching characters.
Don't know super much about the others. Point is that like i said, i'm just happy to see the genre get more attention and hope that word can be spread on *all* of them, with their ups, downs and in-betweens.
But the review didn’t say the story was lackluster. Only that the pacing was a tad off because of the length of the game and that a fee NPC storylines weren’t fleshed out more.
Great review. Looks like it will be on my backlog though as still plenty of other games to get through.
With regards to NG+ I saw another review site said it had been patched in yesterday so is available for retail release. 👍
Update: looks like NG+ will be added day 1.

Good time with the 1.5 anniversary going on
Game looks good and performs well according to Digital Foundry. Glad it also plays well. I’ll pick it up but I might wait for the price to go down. It’s costing 80-90 bucks here. 80 physically and 90 digitally. There is a deluxe for 100 bucks. 20 bucks more than I paid for FF7 Rebirth at launch which cost 60 physically which is always cheaper than digitally here for some reason and I’m still playing that.

Sprinting is mapped to the dodge button. You simply hold it down, nieR style.

The game is fantastic. Eve has a bunch of cute outfits that aren't skimpy at all. You have to deliberately pick those.
Shame that Journos and "Gamers" would rather complain about her butt instead of talking about real problems in the game industry like how devs, QA, VAs are treated so poorly by Western game companies.

it seems like a very impressive product or whatever maybe but the overwhelming vibe I'm getting is that of Nier Automata with way less soul. and even that game, which is very artistically ambitious, tired me out with its hack and slashing after a while.
If this game releases on PC it will definitely go onto my list of games to buy as the gameplay systems look a lot more interesting than I originally expected.

We live in a time in which good games are criticized equally or worse than bad games. Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy,Baldur's Gate 3, Helldivers 2 and now Stellar Blade but i'm happy we finally got good games. I hope this is a step on the right direction.
Other good games are simply not talked about, too. Stuff like Cookie Cutter, Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, Blud, Soulstice, Harold Halibut and more. It's worth spreading the word on the lesser known ones.
Lumping stellar blade and Hogwarts in with once in a decade games like Baldurs Gate and Elden is hilarious.
@@Mohgenstein the reason I mentioned Hogwarts Legacy and Stellar Blade is because they caused controversy for no apparent reason. All of the games I mentioned received criticism for literally just existing. Hogwarts Legacy had boycott attempt,Elden Ring got attacked by multiple developers,BG3 raised our standards and got criticized because of it,Helldivers 2 is pro consumer and it's also rejecting any political media and Stellar Blade is being criticized because of the main character. I'm not comparing any of the games, what I'm saying is none of these game deserved to be criticized just cause they exist. BG3 and Elden Ring will always be goated.

Maybe forspoken should have been baked a bit more and taken some pointers here. I see customization similarities, but this game does it much better and apparently Eve isn't a bore. It is weird seeing such a Korean face with a British accent

I know I'm just nitpicking, but I could've sworn that Eve's bunny outfit was a higher high cut leotard, because I remember in that State Of Play months ago, Eve was wearing a bunny outfit like the one in this video, but pink and its high cut was higher on her thighs than they are in the final version of this game.
Also, I REALLY hope this game won't cause another "Spider Man 2 effect". Otherwise I can consider the gaming community officially dead...

I'm fine with the ladies showing a lot of skin, after all you're in a desert looking area, but it's a real shame that Adam isn't also skimpily dressed. Equal representation would have been nice.
as a woman, I'm honestly way less interested in 'skimpy' dressed men. that's not what's sexy when it comes to a man. a well fitting suit or armor that highlights his capabilities is way more attractive on a man, vs how a bunny suit is sexy on a girl.

I don't know how to feel about the female character. Like I'm all for atractive women in any media but compared to the men in the game it feels like the main character is objectified at least a bit. Like when she wears a skirt you can always see up her skirt. I like ass just as much as the next guy but sometimes it can get annoying. It feels like its appealing to teenage boys. I'm aware there are different outfits though. I feel like I'm gonna get shit on for even bringing this up 😂
