This takes me back to the built-up to the 1996 African Cup of Nations final in SA, featuring Bafana Bafana and Tunisia at the FNB stadium. The stadium was filled to capacity and the atmosphere was electric. Bafana Bafana eventually won 2-1 and lifted their first African Nations Cup title under Clive Barker and Neil Tovey as a captain. Those were the days!Thanx @ Solbhala for taking us a decade and a half back.
This was for AFCON 1996 and I was 4 years old and couldn't speak English at the time. Bafana Bafana literally brought the heat on the field and we lost one game against Egypt in the group stage which didn't matter because we qualified for the quarter finals anyway and we went on to win it. I miss that Bafana squad, I hope that the current squad will qualify for AFCON 2023 and win it all. Here's a Fun Fact: This was the official song for SABC TopSport (SABC Sport) during 1997/2002 with the tag line being: "Inspiration for the Nation" Thanks to this track, childhood memories were made
