Providence & Worcester CT-2X ‘Empty Ethanol Train’ in Providence & Valley Falls, RI | ALMTrains

Description: On a somewhat chilly but still warmer than usual Wednesday, I met up with a friend in Rhode Island to see if the empty ethanol tanks in Providence will be brought to Worcester. About twice a month, Motiva Enterprises in the Port of Providence receives 80 loaded tankers of ethanol from Chicago Via CSX & Providence and Worcester. Two light engines were sent down from Worcester to pick up the 1x80 car train and haul it north for CSX to then bring it back to Chicago. Since P&W were short on Worcester Based Crews, an extra crew from New Haven, which happened to be CT-2, was assigned. CT-2 is normally a seasonal nighttime stone train from New Haven to Danbury and hearing this symbol on our radios surprised us. We caught the light engines next to ProJo in Providence on the Northeast Corridor and decided to head north for a shot on their mainline. After leaving a radio on top of a car for it to fall off and break & then see a saw blade flying off a truck which hit our car on the highway, we then set up in front of the Valley Falls engine house to see it head back north.
