He's almost 40 He's getting old I've been watching tennis for 35 years I remember when you retired at 32. As you get older it gets harder even if you are the greatest who I've ever played the game. No one can beat time.
@Charlie-de7yr What are you even on about? Federer was younger in the 2017 season than Djokovic was in the 2023 season and won 2 slams. Choked to David "0 masters titles" Goffin in the ATP Finals semi with a lay up final vs Dimitrov waiting! Didn't even play clay at all because he quit it! Djokovic in 2023 at 36 did something that Federer couldn't do since his mid 20's 😂 3 slams and the ATP finals won. Federer would never have even won those slams in 2017 and 18 only that Djokovic was compromised. Federer beat a teenage Djokovic once in Australia then won ONE SINGLE SET TOTAL from 4 best of 5 match encounters. Federer last beat Djokovic in any slam still aged only 30. For the last decade before he retired he literally had zero impact on stopping Djokovic winning any slam!
He's nearly 37, barely played Since AO SF and now playing on the slowest clay surface and with no rest day. Also, Ruud was significantly improved and played a great 3rd set. Aside from the last game, Novak was good. Shame it ended on a DF as I wanted to see Ruud have to step up.
I totally agree with your assessment on Nole’s performance. His cardio, meaning endurance is not stellar as yet. He hopes to be better by Madrid and Rome, and then RG. However, he is still almost 37 and the young guns that are making their moves will not roll over now for him.
Only talking about Djokovich and how he played, no credit to Ruud. Thats always the story, Always this «if Ruud wins the other player plays poor». What about Ruud play well and thus making his opponents play poor. Give the guy some credit 🙄
Age is catching up with Novak but also there isn't much left for him to chase. He was at his best when he was chasing records, when he was going after Federer and Nadal's dominance. Then at the US Open last year he caught up with Margaret Court's 24 slams, and at the ATP Tour Finals he overtook Federer's record with 7 titles. Can't be easy to motivate an ageing mind and body when you've achieved almost everything you can achieve and overtaken everyone in most of the key records. Maybe at the Olympics we'll see Novak at his best again, because we haven't seen his best since the final of the ATP Tour Finals.
He simply lacks motivation and it is perfectly understandable. What is he doing there at 37, chasing a Third Career Golden Masters vs players 10-15 years youner than him!?!?!? There isnt even another player in history who has ONE of these and he has TWO. He is doing the best he can with the maximum motivation he can muster, he is in completely uncharted waters in terms of his career, he has proven he is the GOAT numerous times over already. From here on out every new record is a gift. No one can really blame him for any errors or losses at this point or not doing his best. Slams is what matters to him the most anyway, last year he lost earlier in Monte Carlo and won RG so this year's clay season has actually started better lol.
Just stop already. Novak is almost 37 playing a 25 yr old, so what do you expect? That he is still playing at this level and getting to this point is still amazing. Should have retired at the end of last year but kudos to him for still giving it a go.
Great start for Goatkovic for the clay season. I see only positives in this run, and so should he. He suddenly found a new gear in the second set, and was good in the third, just a bit unlucky. Ruud is a very good clay court player, not a joke, he deserved it. Considering Djokovic in the last 5, 6 years struggled to pass first round in this tournament, his poor start this year, and the fact that is just warming up into shape, he did great. I'm not disappointed at all, and neither should be him. And for the Fedaltards, well, 40:15 to you and eat my shorts 😂
Team Djokovic didn't appear to be very positive after that double fault on match point down. No titles in 2024. Wasn't this his 1st final? And the coaching shake-up. His people have a lot to be concerned about.
Djokovic is looking distinctively average this season. His success is based on never missing and top level fitness. He’s missing way more and age seems to have caught up on him fitness wise
Nole is not himself this year! Period. It isn't a sensation cause Nole also here played really average but I still wouldn't give a penny for Ruud, as he before had no chances against normally playing Nole (0-5, not single set won!)
@@DaveOwen-vn6ie years ago? - like more than 10 years ago, since when Nadal has lost 19 sets in a row to Djokovic on hardcourt and every single match they have played off clay? Djokovic has been on EPO for years. He went from retiring an hour into a match to winning 6 hour marathons vs the best player in the world. This is the best kept secret in tennis because if Djokovic gets exposed no one benefits including Nadal and Djokovic. You can’t replay the matches and if Novak popping went public all it would do is give the whole sport a black eye and hurt the bottom line of guys like Federer and Nadal who still make millions even when they don’t play. If you’re in denial of this you’re simply ignoring what common sense tells you.
Do you know that drugs are not that common outside of US? Anyway, if drugs were the main driver in tennis, the big 3 would be made up of all-stripes-and-stars dudes 😂
