    Nice video, I implemented a left side menu to navigate between screens, with expand / collapse options... works good.
    But like you said, some components disappear from time to time...not 100% stable yet... so backup, backup :)
    I need to get me one of those spinners, to let the user know, the data is loading from ORACLE and SQL, it takes time to populate my collections...

    Amazing instructional video, as usual, thank you! Question-I have a component library built in one environment and I have since moved my app to a new environment and still using that navigation pane component. Problem is I need to make updates to the component but my app in the new environment does not recognize the update after I saved and published the component. I cannot find any resolution online for guidance if I do indeed need to recreate my component in the new environment-if so, do you have a video on how to recreate without starting over?

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  Місяць тому +1

      If you look to the right of New Component there are little arrows that let you import and export components. Does that work for you to move it?

    • @kenwilson1621
      @kenwilson1621 Місяць тому

      thanks again for brainstorming. I do see those options but unfortunately am having no success with that method. Decision is to start fresh and enhance my menu setup in the new environment - the enhancements will be the glass half full - but the time required to do it is the other half that fell out lol. Stay blessed!

    Hi Shane.. your videos are the best ... like I said before I’m more a BI guy , PowerApps is one of the best things Microsoft could have brought out.. for someone like myself to do apps.. I’m trying to find out , with using MSSQL connection I needed to upgrade my PowerApps license to a level one . But do the users of the app also need the same PowerApps license .. I lunched the app in Teams and SharePoint and getting the same issue.

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  4 роки тому

      Yes. If your app has a premium connector then all users of the app need a premium license.

    Hi Shane, you have a great style of entertaining PA stuff and adding your experience. Two questions here: how do I import existing components, available as .msapp, into my own library? how do I create / import the specific component library into a project, which does include only the customer specific components? thanks Erhard

    • @ShanesCows

      Not sure I haven’t tried to import like that. Maybe create a new app from the msapp file and then copy and paste into a new component

    Coming back to this video, I am wondering how to get component libraries to play nice with styling.
    I would usually have a dedicated screen for color palette and font definitions, and the other screens would leverage that. But the component library won't... unless maybe I include styles in the component library itself?

    Is there any example of Components using Dropdown/Combobox. Considering their datastructure (mus thave Value attribute etc), it seems generic dropdown wont work with Managed Metadata or people pickers. Meaning we need separate components ot handle them

  • @nigelhamilton6751

    This is great - but I have hit a problem with images from a doc library in SP which I use in the component library. When the apps using the components load, none of the component images show. In the same browser, if I log into SP (any site), then refresh the powerapp - hey presto, the images appear. In fact if I use the same images outside of the components (i.e. just to display on a screen), the same happens. It is as though when the app loads, the connection to SP is anonymous. I am using the "copy link' for the images URL from SP in my app, and also have a data connection to the doc library. Any ideas Shane?

    Hi Shane, I completed a multi-month developed app using components, just to find out that a screen cannot have multiple instances of the same component as that doesn't return their output parameters at the same time.

      Update: I used behavior parameters in components to trigger a component event FROM the screen and save another parameter from the component in a variable.

    I have had a recent issue with my components (local app specific)- wonder if you have had this and have a solution. I have been a regular follower and many of my apps have used your vids and tip help create. SO
    Over night my components have stopped working. I have a number of output 'functions' I pass the index and get a standard text string combining fields from a record and looking up some info from other tables. This is used in various screens (always the same info and format but used in different labels and positions. Now the component seems to have become an actual function and no longer seen to have access to the data source datatable, if I try data component it has no parameters and the action version does not work. Have you done an update video on the new components? Have you come across this issue before? Many thanks

    Hey Shane, great stuff. One idea: My old problem of not having „reusable code, that is edited at a central place“ can be solved with component libraries...makes fun. I just put the code into userdefined properties (input/output) of a control, to have a little „function library“. Perhaps there is an optimal way to do that? Or do you know a better way? Putting reusable code into buttons (and select them) only works inside of the same powerapp.

      Hey Sid - I haven't tried much with reusable code like that so you probably know more than me at this point. 😁

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  4 роки тому +1

      You have to load the images into the media of the app or have them at a publicly accessible URL. I think I show that issue in the video.

      @@ShanesCows I have just done it with solutions but I only got my components across as part of an App and not as a standard component library as we know them. So what I did was........put my components into an app in one Environment the app was saved as part of a solution and then exported the solution. I then imported that solution into my other environment, Its the first time I have done this procedure and got a bit confusing but worked with an older version of said component and missing a input/output properties on a few components drat. I will have another go at some point maybe I didn't publish before exporting or something.
