This is a wonderful video, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I do not know much about the Mariana Islands but your channel is a gift. I wanted to share too, regarding the multiple colors of the rock art. I have a book of paintings, titled "African Wildlife in Art" - in it there is an introductory section on African rock art. The writer spent some time in Tsodilo Hills in the Kalahari with Alec Campbell (archaeologist and museum curator), which is where he talks about some of the art and the evidence of the red paintings being significantly older than the white ones. This specific sentence is what stood out: "The local Bushmen say that their ancestors made the white paintings but that the red ones were painted by God." Makes me wonder what the people painting the white art at the caves in Guam thought of the red paintings - and those who painted them. :)
This reminds me to a folklore of the Aboriginal people of northern Australia about Mimi spirits (fairy-like beings), who made the first rock paintings before the Aboriginal people first came to the area, and taught them how to paint.
Thank you for sharing about this insight! In my extremely limited experience with Australian traditions, the stories and remembered histories about rock art are so interesting, referring to exceptionally ancient time periods
I had no idea that Guam and the Marianas Islands had caves or rock art. I'm actually not that familiar with the islands' history, but I do know they have a unique language and culture. I hope that your's and others' work helps the indigenous peoples and their efforts to preserve their lands and culture.
Yes, in the video description, you can see my 2017 research article in "Antiquity", with a weblink for free access. This article includes a few bibliographic references that might be helpful. Additionally in the video description, the other linked references mention some parts about the rock art, but you would need to search through those texts.
Weren't you in that band... cant remember the name but it was popular in the 70s. Had the spaceships on the album covers. I mean like its legit rock art and some say the music was art rock. just sayin.
What are your thoughts about ancient rock art?
*** In the video description = references and documentation, with weblinks
Can be amazing in its own way.

Thank you so much! I can recommend my colleague's channel "PulanSpeaks" for more about the indigenous culture, history, and language.
Are there book or papers discussing this Guam rock art?

Electric Light Orchestra? I might add the art rock art by Roger Dean and H.R. Giger?
