I was there a month ago and spoke to the engineer as he got off the train when we pulled back into the station. According to what he said the UP's you See are Arkansas and Missouri Trains with UP power. I caught a coal train soon after :)
Union Pacific has traffic rights on the Missouri Northern Arkansas railroad witch is now owned by Genesee and Wyoming railroad company. Union Pacific took over the line in 1982 when it took over the Missouri Pacific. The MNA took over the line on December 13, 1992. Hope it helps with a little history on the line.
UP has some unit coal trains up to maybe about four per week going through Branson - two loaded and two empty - to and from Wyoming's Powder River Basin and an electric utility (ETRX) based in Arkansas.

You catch Northwest bound or Southeast?
Do you remember where you caught it?
AWESOME VIDEO!!!!! Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
I prefer steam engines, but this is why I like diesels too, the engine from the 1950s looks so cool
I used to ride this all the time for fun :3
