Thanks for the nice trip down memory lane - I was stationed in Camp Humphrey outside of Pyong-Taek from 1969-1971 and listened to AFKN all the time. In fact one of my greatest regrets is somehow losing the reel-to-reel tape that I made of the 1970 New Year's show - what I'd give to listen to that once more! Anyway, thanks for sharing!
ㅜ 영상 올려주신분 정말 thank you verry much~^^
Hey Clyde, Nick sent me the link to this. Not sure if you remember me (Jack Robbins) or not but I got to K-2 in January, '72. I think you DEROS'd a few months after that. I worked on Kelsey's crew with Nick for training a few months and then, being a SSgt, got my own crew. My daughter Jennifer was born there (Presbyterian Hospital, Taegu) the following January. I extended my tour and went stateside in February, '74. Finished my 6 1/2 year career at Bolling AFB, DC in April 1975. Prior to my tour at Taegu I served a tour at Osan and one in Vietnam. I miss the USAF. Thanks for posting this. Love to see some more. Great memories.
Sorry about the long reply delay. Glad to hear from you. I wish I had stayed another Year. I am a gaget person. While in Taegu I had Super8 movie camera, 35mm camera, Reel to Reel stereo tape deck. I also recorded Korean radio stations. Can your Daughter speak Korean. I am going to try to upload a Korean radio drama. I Just uploaded the USAF f-4 Barrier engagement. Getting ready to upload a few more video.
ClydeKICT No she doesn't speak Korean. She was only about 15 months when we returned stateside. Love the videos Clyde. I had a super 8 of a ROKAF F-4 engagement that I haven't been able to find but if I ever do I'm going to get it digitized and upload it. Take care.
Very nice! I like the obscurity of this material, having worked at AFKN in the 1990s. If you can find some way of patching the audio direct to video to get better quality and truly preserve it, that would be great. I'm not sure if it's just that the tape is old, but it sounds like it's being played out of the speakers.
In the late 60's it would have cost you a stripe to air that music, the CO was very conservative when it came to music. I knew a couple of DJ's who said f
