I’m honestly proud of Essence Of Troy & The Twirlers. WAAAAAYYYY better than last years battle👏🏼 pls keep that up. idk what that last year was about.

Great battle. One of the better ones I've seen. Here's my assessment. Drum majors-VUU. Auxillary-VSU. Ensembles-VSU, Drums-tie. VSU tried the little boy gimmick ... Lol. Overall band-VSU. VSU basically overpowered a smaller band. VUU had great sound but not enough players to get that big band sound. You could hear the holes in VUU arrangements. VSU overplayed at times.

Good, The Multi Toms are blending with the Leg Tenors that you couldnt hear them with the Tonals.
2nd band has a lot of potential, just need to clean it up.

Both dance lines were not entertaining, but if I had to choose a winner, I'll have to give it to VUU.. it might've just been 4 of them but they were more cohesive and had more energy than VSU.

TJ you’re truly said bruh. What school school did you march for? We all have our opinions on things but is it really necessary to come up here and spread negative energy. Like my things is that VSU always catch wave. These kids have as much heart as any other band. If you like VSU is plain and simple don’t watch the videos. Where’s the HBCU love. Plus VSU did there thing.

VSU’s percussion section mostly sounds good but seems way too loud at times. This is a small band. They back there going HAM but covering up the horns. Then the band overall needs to work on phrasing man damn. Chief that ain’t it. A lot of stuff sounded choppy when it shouldn’t have. That fanfare could be soooo much better if everyone wasn’t breathing at the same time trying to blast. Y’all sound like you are focusing a lot on volume and projecting than the fundamentals and it sounds obvious. Trying to blow like the big SWAC/Meac bands without certain instrumentation keeps you having that sound that’s a little immature.

Man what was he point of the drum set? Buddy didn't do no real chops. He was very basic. I was waiting to be wowed, but nothing. Hell an 8 count solo would have really set it off. Other than that both bands did well. I wonder what they would look like with numbers?

CT I Definitely agree with you, our drum instructor E wanted me to make sure that the block cadence was in tempo and solidified for them. I wasn’t worried about having a bunch of fills in the piece. As long as people was grooving to our music, I couldn’t cared less about having massive fills
