    Just saw your video and wanted to let you know that what you used isn’t embossing powder. It’s a mica powder used to give a glossy finish, although you can use it to color your resin or brush it on your molds prior to pouring your resin in. Embossing powder is labeled as such and that’s where the heat gun comes in.
    I did want to ask about the molds with the diamond edge. Did you find it hard to fill the molds without getting air bubbles under the flap at the top of the mold? I was having problems with that, so any tips you have would be appreciated. Thanks

      Oh I totally thought it was! Michaels is always sold out of their brand of gold embossing powder, and this one was in that section. Thank you for the info! I haven’t had issues with bubbles, but I would suggest taking a little epoxy on a gloved finger and spread a thin layer on the whole mold even the sides. This helps coat the silicone so bubbles don’t get trapped in there. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching! 🥰

    When you poured the resin and hardener into the mixing cup, how do you clean the cup after? Do you toss it or clean it? And where can I buy the same mixing cup

      So the measuring cup I used is just a plastic one from the dollar store, most the time I can just easily pull out the remaining epoxy once it’s hardened! These are the only kind I’ve found that can be reused! For smaller amounts, I’ll use disposable medicine cups, I buy in bulk on Amazon! Thank you for watching! ❤️

    Love the gold edges ! Need to try this I don’t like the look the pen gives. We don’t have a michaels where I live can you recommend something one Amazon? And maybe do a top coat over the coasters so the edges won’t smudge

      Thank you! So I haven’t used much embossing powders, but I’m sure Amazon has some great ones! But yes you can do a flood coat over top to seal it! Thank you for watching! ☺️

    Do you think a hair dryer can be used instead of a heat gun?

    • @GlazedEpoxy
      @GlazedEpoxy  Рік тому

      It can, but it does blow more air so use a low setting and be careful! I’d only suggest this is you are just starting out and getting the feel of things. A heat gun is definitely worth it if you are planning on doing a lot with epoxy! 🥰

    May I ask which mold release you use?? I have tried several. I like the one ,Aleenes that is at Hobby Lobby, but it's expensive for no bigger the bottle is....TIA!

    I would call that a chiseled edge 😁 i wouldn't know about the embossing powder so I can't help you there. But these are cool looking with that gold on the sides!

    You heat with the gun until you see it start melting, it starts to look liquid, then stop and let it dry

    Hey! Your work is amazing 😍 i was just wondering if you prefer the embossing powders over using paint pens? And if you had any comments on the difference each made on the finish? If you haven’t already, it would be amazing to see a videos on this!! I find when i use the paint pens after the resin has set, it can go quite patchy and if i try to apply more then it just takes it off... do you have any advice? Xxx

      I definitely prefer the paint pen, but I think for a decorative tray that you want to look like real agate the embossing can look more like the gold they finish agate with, like dipped in gold almost. But I think it will wear off faster. The pens are just so easy, look great, and won’t wear off! Thank you for watching! 🥰

    So you only used 15ml? I’m trying to make a phone stand and trying to figure how much I need

    • @GlazedEpoxy
      @GlazedEpoxy  3 роки тому

      Oh no 15 ounces! The phone stands I would imagine around 6 ounces. I have one of those molds, just haven’t used it yet. Thank you for watching! 🥰
