This is done mostly because of corrupt T.C'S if the large amount unreserved passengers gives small amount of money to ticket checkers the tc's allows unreserved passengers to stay in train and distrub the reserved passnegers
Local trains do not have reserved seats.
I think railway should be implement railway pass for private company or entity employee which pass amount paid by company from employee 50% salary and half by company it self so that increase ticket sales and from company side employee regularity increase i think , and for union part railway should decrease union power step by step.

Before collecting the fines, first the central railways should improve their services. It is the worst service provider as compared to other big metropolitan cities of the world !
Trains are always running late (Upline and downline), single direction crows at peak hours, high frequency of AC local and CST-Thane station during evening time, Delayed service, improper announcement, no space in station to stand properly, false indicators showing wrong train and time, lack of cleanliness in station premise, no Railway staffs to manage the crowd at station, No queue system at platform level, during rainy season Mumbai Railway station is Imagica water park, lack of communication between station manager and passengers, no starting trains from Diva-Mumbra station towards CST during morning peak hours, due to heavy packed crowded train - people falling from train to death, etc.
I travel from dombivli to Ghatkopar everyday from last 6 years, these are real issues faced by all passengers.
Maybe if people paid fares there would be money to improve services

The issue is when you disturb the status quo, that will make the population oppose you. Metros were built with ticket gates, so no status quo was disturbed
Good and honest people unfortunately loose hope very quickly. Some just think of running away and some just keep quite and go on with their lives. to win such a battle means we have to be brave enough to keep calling these people out whenever its possible and not engage in it. It will take years but change will happen, you wouldn't eve notice it because it will be gradual. I hope channels like this keep educating people and bring out the uncomfortable truth but also brings solutions where individuals can make a difference.
changes is happening very slowly and no. of people buying tickets are increasing slowly but it will take long time and it will happen when people starts valuing their time instead of their money

I myself used to travel ticketless at times due to huge line at ticket counter or due to being late to my destination but now UTS app has solved this
I will say common citizens are real culprit for slow growth of infrastructure in India and all other problems
Then railways can do one thing for Mumbai local is to commision based rent out their railway stations to private players for operations and ticketing.
These player will make sure that station are sealed and proper entry exits are provided. This will enable the railways to generate money from Mumbai local trains
And for poor people they can issue some subsidy based card, which will be strictly based on their income.

This is a mystery why IR doesn’t follow Metro like entry and exit. This could've increased revenue from passenger travel significantly plus it would lessen the crowding of trains since ticketless travellers couldn’t board on the trains.

I have traveled many times as a ticketless in Mumbai Suburbs and never get caught by any TC
Delhi metro mein around 2-3 rs per station charge hota hai on average, yaani 24-30 rupee 10km ke lagte hai, yahan mumbai mein alag hi bakchodi chal rahi hai, 100km ka 30 rs
I think Mumbai local ko puri tarah se band kr dena chaiye aur mumbai local ke existing network ko use krte hue usi routes ko metro me upgrade kr dena chaiye just like delhi metro.

In that case metro system should be promoted and for long distance air connectivity can improve thus honest traveller can have better options and railway system can utilize for freight operation on priority to earn profit and existing mail,passenger service can utilize for those peoples
I think railways should implement passes for poor people like me who travels daily for nominal fee like 35 percentage of fee
But at the same time they should implement strict ticket checking services this will help to prevent major accidents cause by passengers in train and will boost railways income if they implement carefully

Long distance train ticketless people entered in fully reserved coaches, even same experience in AC coach. TTE or coach attendant ignore. Seems Railway administration encourage this and wants fights in running train between passangers.
Dekho bhai... kiske paas ticket khareedneke paise hai nahi hai yeh matter hi nahi karta. Agar paise nahi hai toh walk karke jaao jaha jana hai. Agar service ka charge hai toh voh sabko pay karna hai irrespective of affordability. Railways me 2nd class 1st class aur AC ke rates alag alag hai affordability ko dhyaan me rakhke. If you cannot afford AC, travel through 1st class, if you cannot afford 1st class travel through 2nd class, if you cannot afford 2nd class you should not be allowed inside the railway platform. It is an injustice to us, cause we do pay tickets and it irks us when we see one travelling in AC without ticket. Borivali ke aage towards Virar kisiko jaana hai evening ke baad, yeh log ticketless hi travel karte hai cause vaha koi TC hota hi nahi hai kabhi bhi. How stupid is that! Har kisiko samajhne baithoge toh kabhi progress hoga hi nahi. Government has to take a very strict and bold decision here. Its not like kabhi tickets ke rates badhe nahi hai past me. People will talk rubbish for a few days, opposition will create some noise for a few days, eventually everything becomes a new normal and people have to adapt to it. Simple!

Railways can upgrade their food stalls and other commercial stalls and try and earn revenue from here, or implement some similar strategy, like making the boot polishers part of railway, so on and so forth, implement the vendors that sell small items inside the trains as employees, that will help resolve employment issue and their credibility issue
