Hmmm, having skipped the first one I was kind of exciting about tracking this one down but I don't think I will now. I love the heads and the proportions but man, that articulation.
Yea, that’s one of the biggest gripes I have with Marvel Select, the detail is amazing, but the articulation is very limited, and IMO detracts the overall value and quality of the figure.
The 1st and 3rd head and his back spider legs are from Angel Medinas art from VENOM DARK ORIGIN. The 2nd head greatly resembles Skottie Young/Herrera/Ramos art from Daniel Way's Venom run. Love it. Buying it AGAIN.
I cut out a decent chunk of plastic on the torso to get some really good ab crunch. Also 3d printed some marvel legends style ankle joints and drilled some holes in the feet for them to fit. It worked surprisingly well. Now I consider it a pretty great venom figure but out of the box I was disappointed.
You're so on point that you just got a thumbs-up an a new subscriber. Very disappointed that they didn't add double jointed knees and elbows, so frustrating!
Good review! I'll probably get this because I missed out on the first one. The only thing that gets me on the Venom figures is sometimes the heads don't match the body. Some characters you can get by with it but some you can't. On certain heads, when he was drawn that way he had a bigger monstrous body so when they place that head on a smaller body it looks off sometimes. Still a nicely sculpted figure though.
I'll buy this and repaint it as a Toxin Custom. the right head piece would fit well for it. already have Mcfarlane Legends & gonna need to get the one for Venon Baf. so that's gonna leave me with 3 venoms already
Hasbro and Marvel Select have reissued their respective Venom figures with a few new accessories. Also, I've been wanting to pick up the Marvel Select Venom for a while; now, I've got two options. Once again, another great video! ☮️👍🏿
I really like this new slightly updated venom. One of the heads with circular eyes reminds me of nite mare before Christmas lol. Also the bulldog face looks awesome and cartoon like. The back pack is okay but it doesn’t stay on tight. I wish they could have addressed that but all in all still amazing.
Damn dude you should’ve contacted DST when your original Venom broke because they would’ve sent you a replacement. They’ve done it for me before. Just send them an email.
I think I saw a SDCC interview somewhere that the Selects are purposely not made to have a lot of articulation. They cap articulation at some ridiculous amount like only 20 or something.
Honestly I'd gladly pay 100 bucks in a heartbeat if he has ankle rockers and better elbow and knee joints. Dude looks sick as hell but it's basically just a statue to me if I can't get them crazy poses especially with venom :(
I’m digging it...almost but not to enough to get it. I don’t have the original but I’m fine with my revoltech. Maybe if this guy had good articulation.
Although the heads are SPOT ON for the "Dark Origin" artwork... I really hate that look, LOL. Oh well, just a personal preference. I have the old one, anyway.
I have the other one, I really like this one too but, I gotta save for the upcoming legends waves 😑...the monster venom is pretty detailed man, speaking of cool Venoms.
Yeah the Legends monster Venom is pretty cool too. I just don't like it as much as I like this one. Oh yeah Legends are going to hit hard right at the begining of the year.
I feel like I’d rather get the original. There’s only really one head I particularly like here, and I think I’d still want the Eddie Brock and McFarlane looks the original offers
Please Diamond select, make an Infinity War Thanos figure 👏 you guys kill it when it comes to your guys bigger characters like the gladiator hulk and juggernaut.
This "new" figures appeals to me from what I've seen because the original I've NEVER found one with neat paint applications. It's so sloppy and gross so seeing this new figure has cleaner paint apps makes me wanna look out for this guy.
Does anyone think this venom is slightly too big to go with a marvel legends spider-man. I saw the comparison in the video but just wondering if he’s slightly too big.
I'm perplexed at how Diamond Select can somehow take arguably the greatest Venom figure and turn it into something I hate. I can actually accept the lackluster articulation because Brock is a bodybuilder who only increases in size with the symbiote. And so he was never the most flexible character. But I have to ask with this figure: Why bother? I hate the closed mouth head and the other two with the tongues do nothing to really improve on what we've already gotten. And the tongue head on the original had a removable tongue, unlike these. The tendrils are too thin and skinny. I wish they would have had less consistent sizes like some large black symbiote goop not skinny insect-looking legs. Since everything else is the same, no need to comment further. The only use this would have for me is keeping the original on the shelf and playing with this one in hand. All in all, there is NOTHIING on this version that is an improvement.
Nice review but this is a hard pass. Doesn’t make sense buying a six year old repackaged figure just for 3 heads smh. I have the Revoltech Venom so I’m good.
Such a wasted oportunity, you how easy I would have bought and updated sculpt of that figure? not even that much of a big deal just double joint the legs and arms.
I never really liked Venom or Todd McFarlane. He's overrated and Venom is a totally out of place villain for a story like Spider-Man. I think edgy and dark Spider-Man lore is best left in the 90s and forgotten, doesn't suit the colorful and campy spirit of the character. So a Venom that is more of a modern design that distances itself from McFarlane and that you could say is a little more crazy looking rather than utterly scary is a great pick for me
Hmmm, having skipped the first one I was kind of exciting about tracking this one down but I don't think I will now. I love the heads and the proportions but man, that articulation.
Yeah the articulation leaves a lot to be desired. Still a good figure though and I think it's worth grabbing if you missed the first one.
Yea, that’s one of the biggest gripes I have with Marvel Select, the detail is amazing, but the articulation is very limited, and IMO detracts the overall value and quality of the figure.
@@maximushermanite It's a 24.99 figure. You can get amazing detail, amazing articulation and great sculpt with $100 import figure
Original Marvel Select Venom looks more terrifying. This one looks like his goofy little brother.
Haha I can see that.
I think it could make for a decent Toxin custom. expecially with the right side head
This is actually the 3rd Select Venom release. First being the Ultimate Venom.
The 1st and 3rd head and his back spider legs are from Angel Medinas art from VENOM DARK ORIGIN. The 2nd head greatly resembles Skottie Young/Herrera/Ramos art from Daniel Way's Venom run. Love it. Buying it AGAIN.
Ah nice. Thanks for the info.
the third head is definitely eric larsen
I cut out a decent chunk of plastic on the torso to get some really good ab crunch. Also 3d printed some marvel legends style ankle joints and drilled some holes in the feet for them to fit. It worked surprisingly well. Now I consider it a pretty great venom figure but out of the box I was disappointed.
I have the original but as a huge Venom fan this was a must have! Those accessories make it a whole new figure to me.
You're so on point that you just got a thumbs-up an a new subscriber. Very disappointed that they didn't add double jointed knees and elbows, so frustrating!
awesome figure. love the new head sculpts.
Good review! I'll probably get this because I missed out on the first one. The only thing that gets me on the Venom figures is sometimes the heads don't match the body. Cool looking figure. I really like "Venom Dark Origin" heads.. Fits him much better.
However, I will wait for MAFEX version.
The Mafex one is going to kill all of the other Venoms. Can't wait for that one.
2 out of 3 of the new head sculpts are 🔥... Still love my original tho
Those head sculpts are funny. I’d put an ice cream is hand or popsicles with head with big tongue. Lol.
This is Venom design from "Dark Origin" mini series.
I have the OG MS Venom but I'm still tempted. I might just swap heads, I dunno. I had mine on display since he came out. He's my go to Venom.
The faces are based on the comic venom dark origin
Oh OK. Thanks for the info. I've never read that. Any good?
@@UnparalleledUniverse yeah its pretty badass give it a read!
Looks beautiful
Great venom!
The first Venom is my display venom with my legends. Venom can change size anyways. Awesome sculpt but yeah I wish they at least added wrist joints
Damn dude you should’ve contacted DST when your original Venom broke because they would’ve sent you a replacement. They’ve done it for me before. Just send them an email.
I should have but as goofy as it sounds, at the time I didn't know I could do that haha.
I wasn't expecting a re-release of this fig. Shame I stopped collecting figures because of lack of storage, but oh well lol
This would be a good custom movie venom
I still think the original marvel select classic venom with the madness backpack is the best venom action figure ever in any scale
I may pick this venom up later I don't know yet!
the biggest head would look perfect on the marvel legends monster venom
Man I wish they would have added double jointed knees at least! I may still get it and try to modify it for the ultimate articulated version.
Yeah they dropped the ball there, they could have done something special if they fixed the articulation. Still a great figure though
I think I saw a SDCC interview somewhere that the Selects are purposely not made to have a lot of articulation. They cap articulation at some ridiculous amount like only 20 or something.
My friend Jean St. Jean sculpted these.
Yes sir, Jean St Jean is an amazing sculptor. He did a great job on the details here, I just wish the articulation was a bit better in the legs.
@@UnparalleledUniverse I have images of him sculpting the heads but dont know how to post images on here.
@@UnparalleledUniverse yeah I hate oh slim and lanky the legs look.
@@briansons5952 post a link to the pictures

I don’t got the original one and I don’t plan on wanting over $60 or more so I’ll just pick this guy up for my brother for Christmas.
Honestly I'd gladly pay 100 bucks in a heartbeat if he has ankle rockers and better elbow and knee joints. Dude looks sick as hell but it's basically just a statue to me if I can't get them crazy poses especially with venom :(

I'm happy with the original release. It's a pass for me. Not enough improvements.
Cant argue with that. I bet if they added double jointed knees EVERYONE who has the original would want this too.
Dang Don't have the first one. Was thinking of getting this one but the articulation kinda changed my mind.
i’m not sure if it’s your lighting but my original venom figure isn’t shiny like yours, does that mean it’s a bootleg?
I feel like I’d rather get the original. There’s only really one head I particularly like here, and I think I’d still want the Eddie Brock and McFarlane looks the original offers
The first head sculp isn’t that pork rind from the spiderham universe
I don't think so.
Looks good a maybe for venom
Excellent review!
Please Diamond select, make an Infinity War Thanos figure 👏 you guys kill it when it comes to your guys bigger characters like the gladiator hulk and juggernaut.
Jimmy Yang I want them to release the watcher again , would like them to do the heralds of galactus
Does anybody know if he’ll be available in for he uk Disney store? I’m asking because the price of him on eBay is abit steep 🤨
This "new" figures appeals to me from what I've seen because the original I've NEVER found one with neat paint applications. It's so sloppy and gross so seeing this new figure has cleaner paint apps makes me wanna look out for this guy.
I wish you could buy Venom figures at Walgreens or Target, but sadly that's not reality.
Does anyone think this venom is slightly too big to go with a marvel legends spider-man. I saw the comparison in the video but just wondering if he’s slightly too big.
will the old select Venom heads fit onto this figure, i have the first release and this one is on the way
Yes they do.
Okay thanks

What is the height compared to marvel legends 6 inch?
Is this listed on the Disney Store site yet? I didn’t see it.
I don't think so. I'd say check the stores this week and you might get lucky.
his review is very good, but I was hoping that DST would give us a new venom maybe with a body like monster venom
Nice review man! the Revo is too short and top heavy. I like the look of this one better.
Yeah the Revotech one have always looked pretty cool to me but seems like he would be a headache to deal with haha.
Did you pick it up at a Disney store? Looking on ebay and the prices are ridiculous!
Yes sir! I be he will be everywhere in a few weeks. Don't fall for those ebay prices.
EBay is only good for loose figures. People always stick up the rare ones with out checking 👍
Marvel selects contract they can only add a certain amount of articulation points
I like the old Marvel select venom more it has classic has an ad the madness like head on it
Is That The 2018 Movie Version Of Comic Version?
