- Rufus Reid, bassist, composer and educator is a guest of the WDR BIG BAND for the first time. His composition "You Make Me Smile" will be played under the direction of Dennis Mackrel. Other solos will be played by Billy Test on piano, Andy Haderer on flugelhorn and Hans Dekker on drums. Produced in early March 2020 at WDR Studio 4 / Cologne.

Wonderful arrangement and the usual brilliant solo from Billy Test, and a great flugelhorn solo from Andy Haderer. Drummer was pretty impressive too!

I had the pleasure of a dinner with Mr. Reid about twelve years ago. I told him "I can't wait to tell my wife that I got to have a meal and a long conversation with Rufus Reid". He just laughed and said "She probably won't know who I am". His master classes and teaching techniques are also superb.
