I read about Verreaux's Sifakas in Last Chance To See by Mark Carwardine and Stephen Fry! Just had to see for myself how they "dance" and I love it. I am so happy this video exists. :D

Madagascar is not a small island, it's a huge one - the fourth largest in the world. It is far enough from Africa that its fauna has developed independently for the last 65 million years or so. Lemurs are only found in Madagascar, not in Africa.
And Swahili has no relevance to Madagascar - what a lemur is called in Swahili is as relevant as what it's called in Russian.

Our common ancestor with the lemurs was almost certainly not bipedal, and the sifaka and ourselves have evolved bipedality independently. If we still had a long tail, we might have evolved to be good at sideways hopping too.
