Your mic is truly outstanding , I'm hearing all kinds of stuff...a gate or a door creaking, flys buzzing around and crickets chirping like they're sittin' right here with me man. Very cool.
When I hear music like this, it makes me feel strangely connected to my ancestors somehow. They were poor farmers and turpentiners in the Florida panhandle and South Alabama. The work clothes and fedoras you wear remind of my grandpa.
no frets on that catgut banjo. Again, yer voice, sir. Wow. I wish I could do it that way. Song, music, cadence all very well played at once. that's the music for me. The tonality more than the precise metronomics. Wow, inspiring.
Just wanted to let you know that I've been a big fan of yours for a while now. You actually inspired me to pick up my first banjo and try it out, so thank you for doing what you do! After I go through some of these beginner courses you offer here, I was considering joining your banjo heritage website as well. Much love and hope all is well!
Awesome. Greetings from Finland. Glad the spring is reaching some part of the world. Its still pretty cold but atleast the days are a bit longer again :)
I’m facing an uncertain, but immediate future in the form of a possible foot amputation due to an infection so this song… one of my Doc Favorites, hitting at 432 is just what I needed right now sitting in a Hospital in Central Florida. Thanks Clifton.
It's absolutely astonishing watching you play with such ease and making it look like you barely do anything with your fingers! As a guitar player I have to say, massive respect to every single banjo player out there, you guys are incredible!
Interesting picking style, reminds me of the style used on the banjo type of instruments you see accompanying Mongolian/Tuvan throat singers. Very primitive sounding, Beautiful song! Well done. 😁
Beautiful. I don't even know how you're getting all those notes out of that banjo. I play a bit of clawhammer, but still pretty new to it. This seems like quite a different beast. Are you picking down and up?
Yes, this is an old style called "up stroke" or "up picking." Some people know it as "Seeger Style." I have a video somewhere on UA-cam teaching how to do it.
Just one of your many 🇨🇱Texian🇨🇱 fans here. WoW..... what a neat-sounding tune! Can you please tell me what key you have your banjo tuned in. I'm basically just learning to claw, and I really don't know all of the different tunings yet. Thanks for the great video Mr. Hicks, and Howdy👋🤠 from Tom in 🇨🇱Texas🇨🇱
Not sure about 432hz but my voice is more comfortable when I tune a half step below standard and then a little more. I'd say F# 335hz. But I suppose a proper songster should just forget about numbers & tuners and just tune by ear to their voice?
I love the dark country songs. Im not sure the exact definition but some are like non other. Does anyone have recommendations to check out? eg. old leatherstockings, Tito & Tarantula, Clutch? Can someone beat the Google on this matter?? It sucks balls

This made me chuckle
Well it's one heck of a cold & drab day here in England but Clifton's music never fails to improve the day.
Most amazing song I could have heard on a Sunday evening.
Over here it's still late afternoon , but equally amazing
It´s Monday afternoon and I fineshed work ten minutes ago. What a great start in the evening. Thanks from Germany for this. I owe you a Beer ;)

Thanks for writing. That banjo is tuned to dGDGA, which is the same tuning as gCGCD only dropped down _low._
✌🏽
Love it
@@joannehack7588 Me, too.
I learned about 432hz from the Shaman Matt McCusker. There is something to it.
I needed that
You had me at 432 Hz
Dang man you Gandalfed us there at the end 😂 Great song, Clif
i let out a puff on my vape exactly the same time. i thought huh? 😂
This is even better than the Gordon Lightfoot version of the song!

I often find my banjos tuned to F# when I do check them.

Can’t go wrong with Roscoe Holcomb and Dock Boggs

Ever try 415hz?
“It’s Sunday”
“It’s Monday”
It’s almost like every day of the week!

Is it supposed to sound out of tune? Just sounds off to me.
