I really loved the mostly AC vibe of Here I Stand, so it’s definitely a favorite of mine. But I totally agree with your placement of it; the critiques are pretty valid in my eyes. I’m at a bit of a standstill with where I’d place My Way and 8701; both are airtight. But I, for one, am very glad that Electro-Ursher is currently gone with the wind. That era of artists having a mandatory EDM cut drove me NUTS. Love in This Club Part II > The Original
My personal favourite and guilty listening pleasure is "Usher" debut from 1994 (fan of Bad Boy) and thought Usher was a rawer with swag Tevin Campbell. Obviously, Usher transitioned to an "adult" audience more successfully than Tevin did, hence more longevity in his career than Tevin (and I really like Tevin Campbell's first two albums).
Great point about Usher's debut being an edgier version of Tevin. Hadn't thought about it that way. Speaking of, you should check out Tevin's 99 album, it's great.
My ranking Confessions his best and career defining album 8701 iconic u remind me and you got it bad are goated especially the latter usher at his best vocally My way what the true beginning to his carrer Here I stand underapreciated and underatted didn't get the love it deserved also coming out after Confessions Usher okay album but la Reid and p diddy tried to hard to make him mature despite being a kid disgusting Raymond vs Raymond daddy's home and there's goes my baby are classes Hard love okay no limit with young and good kisser were the standout songs A mid Coming home dissapoating
His A collaboration mixtape isn’t his album it’s a collaboration album and hard to love is definitely his second best album to date right behind confessions 🤷🏽♀️
I'm mostly just here to express praise for your ranking of A, which is utter fuckin trash. But damn - i think your Here I Stand ranking is a mistake. I get it. But that album is damn near perfect. My ranking would be: Confessions > 8701 > Here I Stand > My Way > Usher > Lookin 4 Myself > Hard II Love > Raymond v Raymond > A
Great review. I agree with it all.
The last R&B classics were MJB Breakthrough and MC The Emancipation of Mimi

I do not miss the EDM era. And YES Love in This Club Part II > The Original
Great review. Do an updated version and add Coming Home to the rankings. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Great List Ed As Always 💯👍
So glad you said you love U Decide off “A”. I had a feeling you’d like that too. The only track I go back to from that project.
It’s a collaboration mixtape it’s not a album 😂
Good list 👍🏾

Great video. However, 8701 has gotta be regarded as #1 due to the amount of huge hits on it.

There's a lot I love on that album but there's some so-so stuff too. That's why it falls a few rungs.
Mainly in terms of replay value, mine would be 1) Usher 2) Confessions 3) My Way 4) 8701 5) A ... and I rarely touch the others
Lmao
