Ok I checked the rules for outflank and while it says that all models in the unit have to have outflanks to be able to do a flanking assault (p244 core rulebook) the rules for a flanking assault mention that you can commit a transport to a flanking assault even if the dudes inside don't have outflank (p311 core rulebook). So you can outflank with a land raider and a command squad inside to go have some fun killing
When you compare the Iron Hands to some other legions, the differences are absolutely astounding. It's like a different author wrote the Legion rules for certain legions (ahem... White Scars, Salamanders)
Head of the gorgon is a very versatile rite and honestly can be taken as a default list any time you arent trying to take more than 1 fast attack or a different theme list. Conditional stubborn, more versatile options for deploying Castellax, and ability to spam graviton shredders is something any list can use. Even infantry spam lists like Head of the Gorgon. As you said, the outflanking vehicles is the least useful aspect of the rite.
Take an Iron Father and give him duel lightning claws for 9 attacks on the charge! 4 standard +2 for lightning claws +2 for machinator array +1 for the charge
Having had a chance to mess with both rites of war, my honest favourite is HotG, CobI is good and definitely more versatile, but when playing vehicle-board control style lists HotG is unmatched. If your opponent simply doesnt have the anti vehicle firepower, you can absolutely dominate the board + sweep objectives and so on. Stronger infantry is definitely more apt given the legions trait, and breachers / immortals in decent numbers are TERRIFYING, but thats not my preference for playing the iron hands. I'd rather play the blitzkrieg/hit face style the legion was always known for prior to the heresy x)
My current list, for playing with family & friends: 2.5k pts Praetor with retinue and a LR 2x 5-man Catapractii in Spartans 2 Contemptors 2x 10-man Tac squads Using Pride of the Legion
Give your Gorgons 1 lightning claw and 1 powerfist for an extra attack as both are specialist weapons.. you can then take on ap3 at initiative or ap2 striking last.
haven't got my hands on the liber books yet, but if they're still a thing, will you be doing a video on shattered legions/ blackshields? the multi legion style of army really appeals to me.
At 7:14 you mention giving Nemesis Bolters to Veteran Squads. I don't recommend doing that. Recon Squads do just fine for much less as a sniper unit. Likewise with Seekers, though they are far better off retaining their Kraken Bolters instead. In fact, and especially in relation to the limitations of Head of the Grogon, probably the best unit you could possibly take in that single Fast Attack slot is a Seeker Squad in a Land Raider. They make for a nice headhunter unit (pun intended) that can drag along 4 lascannons in tow outside your deployment zone, and have the option to Outflank courtesy of Infiltrators. Also, where Night Fighting is concerned, be mindful that you can only light up units that can be targeted by any of that vehicle's weapons. As such, any Rhinos you equip with searchlights should also be equipped with a suitably long-ranged pintle weapon. Volkite Culverins are pretty good for this, but a heavy bolter can accomplish a similar task for much less.
Yeah pintle mounted Heavy Bolters on search light rhinos are definitely the way to go. Seeker unit in a Land Raider is a solid choice. I suggest the Vet Squad here because the -1S is just so good on them. Recoms are definitely more efficient but not nearly as survivable or flexible without relentless.
@@blackbriargaming5483 Even still, a unit with Nemesis Bolters doesn't fully benefit from Relentless the same way one with Combi-Weapons do, especially for a unit better suited for getting in close with that kind of firepower and possibly even charging afterward.
I have been using head of the gorgon rite of war and exchanging flamer squads for graviton shredders to deal with the dreadnoughts, I completely missed the Moritat! A lot cheaper and a lot more fun! A good video with some good insights, cheers!
Building my iron hands while listening to this. Going for mix of tanks and infantry. Everything in transports. I really want medusa immortals but there way to expensive.
I've never been a huge fan, but their rules are really intriguing, and those models. I've actually used the Iron Hands Mk3 minis for my Iron Warriors. Absolute classics.
@@blackbriargaming5483 ah, not me, buddy. I adore them; Ferrus, Autek, Shadrak, Santar. Their philosophy is so cold and calculating, applying it to grinding tanks and long range firepower just suits me to a tee. My biggest problem with them is they are probably the most underdeveloped Loyalist Legion, which I suppose comes from having your Primarch get clapped early on in it. Their rules are super good, though. Played a lot of games of HH 2.0 and so far they haven't lost a match, mind, I'm staying well away from Fury of the Ancients. Long may it last. 😅
Thanks for the support! Going to try and get these videos flowing a bit more frequently again. Just been so busy doing other nerd stuff. Life is hard :P

I truly don't understand how you have so few subs. You make some EXCELLENT HH content
Thank you! Only so many Heresy players out there i suppose 😅😋
Getting into Iron Hands recently, if only to make sure my Emperor's Children have some Loyalists to fight against! Really enjoyed this.
Good to hear! The perfect foil to those noise obsessed weirdos!

Love the videos and the iron hands mate! Cheers on including my IH Moritat in the video :D
Cheers for having a great Iron Hands Moritat on the webs! 😁 And thanks! Bloods out on a week or so.

I have really been looking forward to your next video, and this does not disappoint!
Awww thanks!! 😊
very helpful thanks man

Woa specislist weapon only gives 1 plus attack for two weapons right?
Lightning claws are unique in this regard, as they specifically give 2 attacks for having 2 of them.
I have waited long for this day, thank you for creating this video!
Hopefully it meets your expectations!! 😅

Great videos, can't wait for Iron Warriors and Night lords!
Wrote the script for Night Lords today! Record tomorrow! 😁
Thank you
Thanks for another awesome video mate, any plans for Blood Angels and Iron Warriors?
Thanks for watching 😊 Blood Angels are up next!

Yeah. FW ain't cheap. Definitely investigate 3D printing options if you're on a budget :)
Hopefully the kits come out in plastic, even if they won't have legion specific iconography. I'm not paying £200 for 20 models. 😅
@@combatwombat2134 plastic breachers are a must!
@@combatwombat2134 a good 3d printer costs that much. I need to get a place that can safely use them.
Great video i am on the hunt for anything to help me narrow my choice between iron hands and alpha legion as my 30k army
I do LOVE Alpha Legion but I feel Iron Hands are really underrepresented at the moment. Tough call!
Iron Tenth! 💪

IH Moritat is better than a BA Moritat (inferno pistols)?
Depends on the target. Against dreadnoughts? You betya. Word Bearers moritat with plasma pistols that don't get hot is also a sleeper unit!
tbh IH hold no interest to me, but I love your insight and the way you present, so I watch everything nonetheless.
Keep up great work!
