Incredible movie! Not only for sexual abuse survivors but for everyone who've convinced themselves that their past is behind them. I've recently had to revisit my past and this movie has helped keep me strong in the right direction.

Excellent interview. So genuine and understanding of the trauma and the reality of why people take so long to speak out. To survive I said nothing. It is great to see the me too campaign and films like this put the spotlight on the topic. Change is happening because of all these women speaking out. Again thank you 🙂☘️🌲

Fox's account of her experience as "complex" is about as honest as I've heard. It's refreshing to hear a new perspective on something that is so frequently presented in one particular way.

Plural yes I agree and I'm a little frustrated with Amy trying to push her to define it in a particular way. Fox is very clear that it was abuse and obviously it changed her whole life so why is Amy in effect revictimizing her because it doesn't fit into the box that Amy thinks it should? When people act like that I think they have something to work out for themselves? I'm disappointed in Amy's demeanor here.

Christopher Newman because what her coach did was illegal. The law defines this as statutory RAPE. If 13 year olds could give consent it may be a little easier to stomach.

    • @thedavischanger
      @thedavischanger 6 років тому +3

So this is less about Fox distinguishing her experience from a violent attack and more about what a third party can stomach.

Plural Not quite. I am not sure if you understand the criminality of what her abuser did. His criminality is what is triggering the response from Amy and her co host . This elicits their continuous pressure on her to call her experience what it, in fact and in law, is, rape. It is dangerous and a slippery slope to romanticize satutory rape. This is what I gathered from listening to this interview.

My understanding of law notwithstanding, I appreciate Fox describing her experience in her own words. I'm especially impressed with the words she so deliberately chooses to use. It's more meaningful than if she describes her experience using Goodman's words--or anybody else's for that matter.

Waiting for use of word PEDOPHILE... It appears to be consciously omitted. WHY? Because the predator was having sex with an older teen and an older-still young woman? This man groomed a 13-year-old who "looked like a 9-year-old boy" (quoting the victim) for sex. WHAT DOES THIS MAKE HIM? Why is this word being skirted?

This interview has a lot of tension which I'm very surprised by. Everyone had good points but I don't know what to think about it in full

Tension bordering on anger. Women are so hard on other women.

"We have to be careful about calling it rape." --> "From the moment he touched me, my skin crawled." Reconcile these two sentences. [*Hint:* A 13-year-old doesn't have the maturity or agency to know what is rape.]

Too bad she still abuses horses. I guess it's ok to exploit someone for their body and injure them as long as they aren't human. Horse back riders are so callus, a horses body is not designed for humans to bounce around on top of all the time. Stop abusing horses!

I can't deny that this is a great point that needed to be said. She may just not be there in her life yet to realize the abuse of horses. We're all selfish and look out for number one first so I'm willing to give some slack especially given all she's been through. Ya never know, maybe her next documentary will tackle the subject. We never stop growing into better people if we stay self aware.

@randy hughes I hope you are right, more and more people are waking up to the fact that animals are not our property by default just because we can condition them to do what we want them to do, because they have little choice. To me it's like a person who hears a bird chirp and thinks of it as pointless and less than an activity like mowing the lawn, we are so used to looking down on animals that we won't fully appreciate them until they are all gone and it's just the struggling humans trying to somehow survive in the hot toxic mess created by human civilization.

This has to be the most asinine comment on here.
Tis the reason why I can't stand this whole vegan movement/ religion.
Animals ARE NOT more important than human beings! There is a reason why God (oh yes! Just the horror! of bringing God into it) mandated man to dominate, subdue, rule over and yes, EAT animals!
You are talking about the so-called suffering of an animal over that of a human????
And spare me your obvious sanctimonious response.
      The idiocy of it all....
Bet you are 💯% pro- choice though. *SMH*

      To Drean Delirium :
      1. FUCK YOU!!!
      2. We've heard this story enough times already. _"I'm a woman! Poor me. I was treated bad. I'm a victim. Society please make me feel better! Wahhhh!"_
      3. There are millions of people who are victims of rape/sexual assault that are NOT well paid, affluent, white female actresses/directors. In places like The Congo, India, Germany, Sweden, U.S. prisons and young BOYS in public schools getting RAPED by the FEMALE TEACHERS!
      4. I've had it up to her with modern day, Salem witch trial, destroy every mans life and ruin modern sexuality NONSENSE! I'm tired of hearing this dog shit about male perpetrators and female victims. Very FUCKING tired!!!
      5. Finally! FUCK YOU!!!

Not to mention it seems to include a woman who is also acting as a sexual predator. It's not like it's man-bashing session. It's about child sexual abuse and violation, which can be perpetrated by both men and women.
