    Whats inside the video ?
    🔍 Discover the pivotal role of the central retinal artery, the first branch of the ophthalmic artery, in supplying the retina.
    Delve into the fascinating details of how the short and long posterior ciliary arteries ensure the nourishment of the choroid, optic nerve, and outer layers of the retina, forming the foundation of ocular vascular anatomy. Explore the formation of the Circle of Zinn and Haller, unlocking the secrets of this essential circulatory network within the eye.
    Uncover the significance of the blood supply to the extraocular muscles and the anterior ciliary arteries, with a special focus on their clinical relevance in conditions like anterior ischemic syndrome.
    Learn how posterior ciliary arteries join with anterior ciliary arteries to form the major and minor arterial circles of iris .
    Gain insights into the blood supply of the eyelids, where marginal and peripheral arcades play a crucial role. Learn about the lateral and medial palpebral arteries and the arcades they form, contributing to the overall ocular vascular system.
    Learn about the Venous drainage of the eye through Vortex Veins, ophthalmic veins and cavernous sinus.Understand their clinical relevance with respect to the choroidal effusion.

    Greetings Dr. Amrit. In patients having CRAO, ischemia at the fovea is spared due to it being supplied by choroidal/ciliary circulation and forming a cherry red spot. Is the central vision of these patients spared or not? And if not, why is it not spared as the fovea is still functioning?

      Thank you for that question.! Yes the fovea is spared...but the papillomacular bundle is affected. Right? And that's the reason that despite the cherry red spot..or normal looking fovea, central vision is affected.
      Now if the patient has cilioretinal artery then then the papillomacular bundle is also taken care of . In these cases the central vision remains good.

    At 21:00 why in fields hemispherical defect is there.
    When only disc is affected not corresponding whole retina

      @InsightOphthalmology  3 місяці тому

      Don't forget @shreya all the fibres ultimately leave through the disc...so if disc is affected , we see a corresponding field defect
