  • I moved to Munich and now I can't use my credit card anywhere not clickbait. I am currently spending 2-3x my usual time editing these videos to add bells and whistles and oooo boy do I enjoy it. Tell me your thoughts if you wish! The lazy can thumb me, or just drop me a comment like "editing's alright weird German boy" or something idk
It's weird I feel like I've become myself again. I'm making things representative of myself. Feels great man
Thank you so much for watching! Hope you enjoyed it!
If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make weekly "comedy" videos every Sunday evening. As an American living in London (Munich atm) I love noticing the funny differences between the cultures and one of my most popular video series is my British VS American one. I'm also known for making terrible puns so sorry in advance. Hope to see you around, and I'll see you next Sunday! :)

@Aleksandra Jovic I think it would mainly be useful for the motivation it gives of seeing other people learning the same target language and they can kinda give their own approach of understanding concepts of the language in a way native speakers can't describe it.
I personally like both seeing content of natives and learners, because you can get different perspectives. If that makes sense.
I do agree with you that for listening/pronunciation practice natives are the best.

I'm learning Cantonese right now, and the other day I came up with my own joke. The joke goes along the lines of someone talking to Santa. They would say in Cantonese "Santa, how are you?" And Santa would reply, "I'm very very well." It's a joke because in Cantonese, very well sounds "ho ho," so if he says very very well Santa is basically saying "I'm ho ho ho"

We don't carry around a lot of cash in Germany, we just use debit cards instead of credit cards. I actually prefer that because I pay with money that is in my bank account and not with money I will later get a bill for whether I have it or not. (You need a German bank account for this system though, so I guess if you're just visiting you're stuck with cash...)

I am learning German on Duolingo and watching your videos from the beginning to now has really inspired me. Before I started learning German, I was depressed and had a lot to deal with. I tried finding a get away from my mess of life, and decided it would be good if I had my mind set on something else. Idk when, but one day I just had an amazing thought to learn another language . Since my family is from Czechoslovakia-Germany area I wanted to get closer to my roots. After a few sessions on Duolingo I thought I would never learn anything. But watching you grow on Duolingo and just in the language itself really got me going. Not to mention how hilarious and entertaining your videos are. I just wanted to thank you from one stranger to another about how you impacted my life.

You seem so happy! Ugh that sounds so amazing. I agree with you completely about the traveling alone part. When I’m with other people I’m more comfortable doing less, but when I’m on my own I just GO. There’s so much to see and do. I’ve been working on keeping that mindset wherever I am, to have the curiosity and wanderlust even in my hometown. I’ve learned that traveling is something that makes me so happy, and it shouldn’t be exclusive to the grand Elsewhere. It keeps me from feeling in a rut when I’m restricted from traveling for a period of time. :)

Yeah, we’re not big on credit cards in the Netherlands either. But that’s mostly because everyone uses debit cards (pinpassen) here. May be it’s the same in Germany, or maybe they really are just obsessed with cash.

Germans are just obsessed with cash. What's wrong with debit cards? In Czechia we use contactless debit cards for everything. I love it. I'm seeing a theraphist at the moment, because I need to in order to get estrogen, but it's nice to go there anyways. Most of the time we didn't even talk about gender, but just general things going on in my life and things I struggle with. It's just so refreshing to have someone to talk about anything and everything that's weighing on you at the moment. Plus you learn a lot about yourself, how your mind works, and how you can use that knowledge to live in more peace with your own mind.
