The problem involving most questions about God and the universe it is in a way ir another within that questions humans DEMMANDS that the anwsers pleases them in a way or another and the anwsers comes directly from God Himself. The problem we forget sometimes He already came down as below with us once and the next time He will come in full glory...
A good example of that is " Why Does God allow suferring?" But if we look at God, His creation and all that is within and beyond. The true honest question which is "Why He dosen't allow more suffering for such creatures like us?"
I believe the main reason for it, that wasn't mentioned here, is that Jesus was preaching the forgiveness of sins. Jesus says in John 6 that people were only looking for him because of his miracles. I believe that's what Jesus wanted to avoid: people with only self-interest in mind who would look to Jesus for help only so that they can keep doing the same wrong things (sins) they were doing. But what Jesus wanted was to show them that he could forgive their sins. Another aspect of it is the faith aspect. If everybody knew Jesus was messiah, it would not require any faith by the part of anyone. They would believe it because everyone else does. And Jesus makes it clear a few times that people were being healed because of their faith. Maybe they would not be healed without that faith. So I think Jesus kept quiet so that he would filter out people who were just following the mob and who didn't really want to repent from their sins. That's my guess anyway
The Messianic Secret was in part away of fulfilling the mission of becoming a sacrifice for all mankind. It was in part about timing. Prager asks about hiding a cure for cancer..... As His fame spread it would have become harder for those in charge to crucify him..... And as good as healing, feeding, exorcizing demons etc, etc was.... The greater good was to become the sacrifice. Jesus was never off mission. And through his death, burial, resurrection, ascension, session and then pentecost........ Now those very things are available to mankind on a much larger scale through His Church.
I always just figured that there was an appropriate progression of these things and that marketing too early would accelerate the timeline in a detrimental manner. It seems to be the case that the pacing was just right given the long term outcomes.
The idea on Mark is that the message of the Gospel cannot be contained. That is why after he tells them not to say anything they still go and tell everyone.
I think Jesus was mysterious on many occasions. When he taught the parables to the people he would not always disclose the meaning to the people, only to the disciples. And clearly, the disciples did not understand, without Jesus going to lengths to make them understand. When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus he wasn't very clear, and Jesus is the one saying "do not throw pearl before swine". All in all, Jesus is shrouded in mystery as well as clarity. Visible, yet hidden. I think this is also part of the explanation for why Jesus commands silence; a reason we cannot (easily) know.
But here we are a couple thousand years later still talking about Him being the Messiah.. & God knew this would be the case. Isn’t it all the more Glory to His name that His Messiah-ship was not a trumpeted message or some huge marketing campaign but yet many today in 2024 still call on Him as their Lord & Savior? He truly walked and lived in such a manner of pure righteousness that those who are His would recognize He is not from this world! & those who weren’t His still recognized Him as being otherworldly but instead accused him of being demon possessed. But like i’ve seen in another comment here.. The simple answer really is: What a God of true humility He is! … Plus He had a job for his disciples to do… & their testimony of Him has carried on right down through the ages. Praise God for that!

@8:30 Or, could it be possible that it's simply nice to share a place with others whom you admire and respect? Think of what it means to come from nothing and arrive at a place where great men reside. Men that you respect and who have walked a very different path from you, yet you converge in the same space.. and not only that, but for the right reasons. The best reasons. It is a sacred place. And to be in that place is more important than social normalities.. So long as it isn't outright flamboyant. What does it mean to be enthusiastic? To be enthralled? It's not about showboating. It is about sharing in the glory of the Highest. Regarding the very end, when Jordan emphasized that it's a risk to discuss moral communication, it is. Absolutely. But God sees more than we do. This, and content like it, is using the potential of this technology correctly.
I believe the reason Jesus chooses not to make His identity public parallels the life of David. David was anointed king by the prophet Samuel but had to wait around 10 years to actually become king, and it is implied that very few people knew David had been anointed. During that time, he was tested to show what kind of king he would be. He was even tempted to kill Saul to take what was rightfully his (the kingship), yet he chose not to. It also became evident that Saul was not a good king. In the end, God gave David the kingship. From this, we can draw some conclusions about Jesus' life as narrated in the Gospels.
I have a real problem with those who preach Christianity to make a living that’s too vain! I believe a vow of poverty is the most righteous teacher of God’s Word!
"Ye believe because ye have seen. But, blessed are they who have not seen yet have believed." John 20:29 Christ was cultivating Faith in the invisible God. It was necessary that some people see in order to believe. But, the blessing is in being able to believe having never seen. Because only then can one's faith be without limits. Which is why He would charge them to tell no one what was done. It was to increase their faith.
John Vervaeke asked the right question at the right time. The four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John represent a divinely dynamic cybernetic model of: - Matthew - the input, as the Word of God; Mark -the process, as the Christ; Luke - the outcome, as Christianity; John - feedback as, all the previous three as a co-equal units combined as scientific feedback spiraling the meaning of the text back to the input which elevates it to a higher spiritual level. Thus, St. Mark wrote about the process of the Christ itself, which deals directly with the Spirit of the Truth, which is textually rendered as “Surely this man was the Son of God”. St. Mark exposed the fact the even the Roman centurion, as the representative of the materialistic worldview, was enabled to process the information of the crucifixion experience, i.e., he was forced to behold and conclude that Jesus was the Christ, - positive informational entropy.
Dennos Prager doesn't know his old testament scriptures then that refer to the lamb of God taken as a sacrifice to the slaughter without uttering a word.
He does, better than most. He just doesn't see them as relevant. Christians look though the NT at today's Jews. But this misses 2000 years of Jewish adaptation to resisting Jesus. It would be hard to find a single practicing Jew on earth that does not know about Jesus and exactly why they don't believe. A good friend of mine was a Jew that became a Christian. She told me how frustrating it was to hear Christians talk about today's Jews as if the Bible was sufficient education on the matter. So much of today's Judaism is a culture far removed from the culture of Jesus' day. They have been without a temple for over 2000 years. Thats like the church being without prayer for 2000 years.
Matthew, Hebrews and Galatians were written to Jewish people. Mark and Corinthians were written to gentiles, new converts. That's why Matthew 5:31-32 is 2 lines and a whole Chapter is written about marriage in 1 Corinthians 7:1-40
It should always come from your example and not your words. Walk the walk. People will see. With Christ he should not have to boast about who he was , for one they would not understand and second no one done the things he did, so he could only be the Messiah.
What Christ did was focus human attention to God not himself despite him being God himself, so men wouldn’t have to choose to worship between God or Jesus even though he IS God.
There’s also the element of faith and what gives faithfulness its greatest “chance” I guess. Consider the Matrix. The oracle tells Neo that he isn’t there one. But he discovers he is the one. Is it only through the discovery that makes most sense to Neo. If Jesus tells people he is the messiah, that would be a deterrent to the faith.
You know, I think the answer is much simpler than what is being said here and it appears to have something to do with John 6:15 - “Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.” The idea here is that the people sought to make Him King by force in an earthly sense when they saw Him perform the miracle of feeding the 5000 (which was after He finished teaching them). And for certain, Jesus Is King. But they desired Him to be King of an earthly system which, at that time, was not the way to effect the change He desired to cause - put very, very simply, the transformation of people from the inside out. In order to effect this transformational change, which brings people “from death to life,” He had to die. That couldn’t happen if the people were allowed to execute their will to make Him King by force. So this isn’t too long, I’ll just leave this thought here lol Also, something worth noting is that, often times, when push came to shove, people could not accept his teaching (John 6:66) Many more things can be said, but again, I’ll leave it here lol
Incorrect. The messianic secret is meant to be an individual revelation. He knows full well what an impersonal and loud declaration to be spread will turn into: a political campaign. He knew full well people wanted a political leader. Look how His disciples struggled with His idea of the Kingdon He was establishing. They power He sought was not power over, but the transforming power of love. Look at the Catholic church's abuses when they became a political power. When everyone wants one thing, but needs another...that is the answer to your claim.
I'm honestly very surprised that no one mentioned the obvious. Jesus had to die in a specific way and at an appointed time. On the cross, at Passover. In order for the law and the prophets to be properly fulfilled. Jesus never denied who he was, he was truthful, open, and honest with his closest disciples. And when asked directly or confronted, Jesus never denied who he is. However, when a miracle was performed, he simply urged people not to go and spread the news to everyone. This isn't from a place of shame or even humility in my opinion. Because humility is simply not bragging. Declaring Jesus to be the Messiah, which he was and is, is not boastful. It is true. But remember the reason why Jesus died on the cross? They took him before the high priest to accuse him of blasphemy. Jesus had a mission to accomplish while he was on the earth before his crucifixion. If he had caused too much of a disturbance, it is very likely that he would have been executed before his appointed time, and it would not have been done in the appropriate way, on Passover, with him being the fulfillment of the Passover lamb. In fact, it almost happened once. When Jesus preached the words of Isaiah, and said this day these words have been fulfilled in your ears. And then went on to say, before Abraham was, I AM. They took him, and wanted to throw him over a cliff for blasphemy. But miraculously, he walked out amongst the midst of them. The news about who Jesus was and what his mission was spread at the appropriate pace and in the appropriate time in order for prophecy to be properly fulfilled with his execution on the cross at Passover in the specific year that it occurred. And declaring the news openly, widely, and publicly would not have accomplished his mission in the way it needed to be accomplished. That doesn't mean Jesus ever lied about who he was. And it doesn't mean that he withheld miracles from people, or that he didn't meet them where they were and be the Messiah to them when they needed him. It just means he was prudent about the timing of his execution.
jesus wasn't silent. his miracles were public with thousands of witnesses. the tanakh was also always present for them to know the time of their visitation. daniel prophesied his coming. he cured lepers, gave sight to the blind, fed thousands, walked on water, raised the dead "if they would not listen to moses and the prophets, neither will they believe even if someone would rise from the dead."
This is a very good question. The People wanted to make Jesus King but He refused. Why? It doesn't seem to make any sense at all. That is unless you understand what Jesus mission was. That mission being to pay for the sin of King David for murdering Uriah to steal Bathsheba. If you study how Uriah died you will see the similarities in how Jesus died. The Jews and the Christians share one thing in common and that is pride. Like the Christians the Jews never speak about those scriptures that diminish their pride. I still hear Jews saying that a Jew will rule the World. That a descendent of David will rule the World. Really? Is that what the Bible says? Let's see. 2 Samuel 12:10 "Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own wife." The Jews never preach about the above scripture. What is the name of that sword spoken of above? Anyone of you know? Of course not. I will tell you. The name of that sword is Excalibur. This is how Excalibur came down from Heaven. A sword that cannot be broken. Now let me ask you who is the one that wields that sword? The answer to this the Christians despise as well and that is Caesar. Both the Jew and the Gentile hate that name. Who did the Jews say was their King? The answer can be found in John 19:15. Who speaks on behalf of the People? Is it not the High Priest? The most powerful Force in existence is the WORD of GOD. When the WORD said "let their be light" there was light. In just the same way when the WORD says "give to Caesar everything that belongs to Caesar," so it shall be and so shall it be done and there is nothing in the Universe that can stop it. The WORD of GOD is a stone. If you fall on that stone you will be broken into pieces and if that stone falls on you than you shall be smashed into dust. Your panel asks some good questions but you answer with bad answers because you don't understand. Why don't you understand? Because it is the Fear of the LORD that is the beginning of all understanding. I don't see that fear in you all. All I see is pride and pride is blind to the Fear of GOD. Pride has eyes but cannot see. Pride has ears but cannot hear. Pride has a mind but cannot think. And so pride comes before the fall. One of my favorite things that Jesus said is what He said to the Roman Centurion. "“Verily I say unto you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel." I love these WORDS because they show the greatness of the Faith of the Roman. I am the Roman of Romans and that is my Faith. Just say the WORD and I believe it. This is my Faith. I don't need a sign. I don't need to understand. I don't need proof. All I need is for GOD to tell me something and I believe it. So when GOD told me that everything that belongs to me shall be given to me I don't need a sign, and I don't need to understand how that will happen, and I don't need any evidence for me to believe that it will happen just as the sun must rise in the East. And I don't care even if the entire World disagrees because they're not disagreeing with me. No. They are disagreeing with the WORD of GOD. Nations shall crumble. Popes and Princes shall fall but the WORD of GOD shall endure forever!
I'm not sure it was the humility that made Jesus want to keep quiet. Fame on that level will always draw people to you that will either want to make you prove yourself in some way torment you or both. I think part of Him just didn't want to go through it. He knew what the world was capable of...

to fulfill scripture, He first went to the house of Israel, then later it was opened up to the gentiles (although there are accounts of gentiles coming to him in the gospels, for example a Roman Centurion)
Prager really would like to say the Messiah is supposed to be a ruling King that brings in world peace which is true. Jesus has a Priestley mission and a Ruling King mission, he is the promised messiah. Jews aren't wrong they just don't accept the humble servant. Hosea 3:4 4 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods. 5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days.
Why was Jesus silent when asked "what is truth?" Is the story generationally misinterpreted because we don't understand our communication-biased consciousness and language-defined perceptions of reality? Why does "the son of man" phrase feature in the dialogue and does the term 'Christ' allude to the Cosmic anointing of every human being who ever was or will be? Do we fear truth on a par with our visceral fear of death? And like the prophets before him, did Jesus need to die so people could continue to ignore humanity’s collective sin of missing the mark of reality, in our language-defined fantasy of knowing?
Christians want us to believe that an all-powerful invisible Jewish G-d ... sacrificed his Jewish son Jesus on earth ... so that everyone on earth would join and follow a "Christian" religion. Had Jesus lived ... what an insult that would be ... TO HIM.
@williambranch4283 And is God a person too? Or is that 'idea' an anthropomorphic projection of an entity 'imagined' in our Image? Especially the inherent misogyny of the 'male' imagination?
Jesus did not want to be championed as a military/political deliverer as the Maccabees were not too long before. He is not that sort of deliverer. For instance, The Maccabean leader came into Jerusalem triumphantly on a white charger after defeating Israel's enemies. Jesus came in the same gate on a donkey in order to contrast his mission with political/military liberation, which would only ever be temporary and have no influence on peoples' hearts and their relationship to God. Christ brought real liberation.

Bothered how Jordan continually refers to Jesus as Christ. And I'm NOT bothered if anyone chooses to call that comment nit picky. Its a very important distinction though. Christ is not Jesus's last name! Rather he is The Christ. May be all caps is more appropriate. Meaning for at least within his life time; He is the keeper of the knowledge, the consciousness. This is also why I'm bothered the Gnostic Gnossis Knowledge gospels get brushed aside. In Thomas alone there is so much relief in the text. To me, maybe the same reasons I would personally brush off the Mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious) Does not Jesus speaking in Thomas saying Heaven is not in the sky with the birds or in the ocean with the fish, but rather its everywhere and all around! Isn't that a 10,000 lb. weight lifted off of everyone's shoulders at once?! Isn't that so much more believable than a city in the clouds with everyone adorned in white etc.? Also more believable than A visitation from a cliché looking angel, a scouging and crucifixion and ascending to and coronation in heaven. Thats why we call them mysteries because their hard to grasp. What's a less degree of a mystery is all the beauty that surrounds us.
WHY DID JESUS NOT WANT PUBLICITY ABOUT BEING THE MESSIAH? Perhaps Jesus didn’t want the crowds following Him and stunting His mission before He fulfilled His commission, which was going to the cross and winning salvation for all mankind. If Jesus was being celebrated and followed by thousands and thousands of people as Messiah before the cross, the crowds would have tried to intervene and stop Jesus from being crucified and therefore, not letting Him fulfill His mission. Remember, when Jesus was explaining to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things and be killed and rise again, Peter said, let it be far from thee Lord, it shall not be. And what was Jesus’s response? He said “get thee behind me, Satan”. So that was Satan, working through Peter, seeking to throw a monkey wrench into or gumming up the gears of God’s plan of salvation. If Jesus was already popularized as the Messiah before the cross, the crowds of believers and followers would not have let Jesus be crucified, interfering with God’s plan of salvation for all mankind.
Dionysus is under the feet of Jesus, The One True God. “God of Wine” yet he never created wine. Never existed before Wine. Jesus created the Universe. Dionysus is the perversion
No he didn’t, Christ was showing humility all throughout the scriptures, he didn’t do any Greek-like Mythological structure for his ministry. If anything he didn’t the most Jewish-esc format you could get. It wasn’t til later on in the gospel, and of the Apostles, that the Greeks began to get saved significantly, but they didn’t exactly conform to any Greek-mythology, or any concept like that.
Having those two would be epic. Yet there is some benefit in having people doing the skeptic role to force the others to explain the concepts more thouroughly.
I think Vervaeke is very healthy for the discussion. It's very enlightening to hear how modern cognitive science compliments the stories and teaching of the new testament! . . . And Prager plays a good devil's advocate. . . Perhaps unbeknownst to himself haha. Although Lennox would be awesome aswell! :)
I would add that glory is not something to be grasped. It's something that is bestowed.

It’s an art to be able to show humility while teaching the Word of God!
The answer is actually pretty easy, humility. God is far more humble then we ever give Him credit .

who's lineage does the bible get David's line. Joseph's or Mary's. Joseph was not his father??
Matthew, Hebrews and Galatians were written to Jewish people. Mark and Corinthians were written to gentiles, new converts. That's why Matthew 5:31-32 is 2 lines and a whole Chapter is written about marriage in 1 Corinthians 7:1-40
Does anyone know what tie Jordan Peterson is wearing?

which none of the rulers of this world hath known: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory:
He tricked them.
It should always come from your example and not your words. Walk the walk. People will see. With Christ he should not have to boast about who he was , for one they would not understand and second no one done the things he did, so he could only be the Messiah.
I guess how & why you do something is as important (or maybe more?) as what you do.
Can you post some clips when the some of the text is being read?
Was N T (Tom) Wright invited to this discussion ?
Dennis Prager can't comprehend the humility of Christ. It's astonishing.
Absolutely. It's great to see how Juice think.
@@alphabeta8284 Orthodox Judaism isn't true Judaism, because it completely flouts the Torah's prophecies of Jesus.
The chosen people run as fast as they can from their own old testament. The rabbis lie to their own people about their own history.
Satan isn’t capable of humility.
Exactly right!
You know, I think the answer is much simpler than what is being said here and it appears to have something to do with John 6:15 - “Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.”
The idea here is that the people sought to make Him King by force in an earthly sense when they saw Him perform the miracle of feeding the 5000 (which was after He finished teaching them).
So this isn’t too long, I’ll just leave this thought here lol
Also, something worth noting is that, often times, when push came to shove, people could not accept his teaching (John 6:66)
Many more things can be said, but again, I’ll leave it here lol
Does anyone know which Bible they are using / reading from?
New testament
They are using a book that has tried to order the scenes in a chronological order! But I can't remember what the book is called.
A synopsis of the four regular Gospels.
The "messianic secret" in Mark is an irreconcilable contradiction with the other gospels, especially John. (See John 4:26).
NT isn't univocal, it is an anthology.
@ my point is that in John Jesus reminds everyone constantly that he is the messiah, etc.
Let's see.
2 Samuel 12:10 "Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own wife."
The Jews never preach about the above scripture.
That is the view of Last Temptation of Christ
✝️I'm retired at 47, This video here reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to having over 75,000 biweekly profit, a honest partner and a good daughter full of love 🤍
I'm feeling really motivated.
Could you share some details about the biweekly topic you brought about up? 😊
I raised 75k and Maria Luisa Clare is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Maria L. Clare is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good husband, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!
Wow 😱 I know her too
Miss Maria Luisa Clare is a remarkable individual whom has brought immense positivity and inspiration into my life.
I started with a miserly $1500. The results have been mind blowing I must say TBH!
7:40 if I be God then let the whole world show. He told them not to speak yet 2000 later we speak of His fullness not John not Mary not Muhammad not even David’s completeness but Christ’s
They should have got Fr. Stephen De Young on this series.
Agree 100% He would have answered Prager's question on the Word really well.
Praying should be private! Vanity is not on the path to heaven!
Why did he only told the jews to not tell anyone but not the gentiles?
to fulfill scripture, He first went to the house of Israel, then later it was opened up to the gentiles (although there are accounts of gentiles coming to him in the gospels, for example a Roman Centurion)
they all have Bibles on their table.
Prager really would like to say the Messiah is supposed to be a ruling King that brings in world peace which is true. Jesus has a Priestley mission and a Ruling King mission, he is the promised messiah. Jews aren't wrong they just don't accept the humble servant.
Hosea 3:4
4 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods.
TO HIM.
@@junevandermark952 Those who think God too weak and cowardly to die and then defeat death has no business speaking about insults to Him.
Truth isn't a proposition but a person. Jesus is the living Torah.
Christ brought real liberation.
i cant get into these discussions. too metaphoric and vague, i like when JP explains things but this round table thing is like too much
Narcissism is a psychic mechanism that protects the self from shattering after injury caused by malevolence. Peterson and others look at the symptoms and characteristics of narcissism but don't seem to look deeper to understand it's roots, and therefore their discussions of narcissism are very shallow.
Without the spiritual understanding of who Christ is, you can not explain it physically. The problem with this panel is their spiritual understanding
Sometimes I dont think Jordan knows what narcissism is.
Read the BIBLE. Feed upon it for your nourishment. Develop a personal relationship with the FATHER through the grace given by the SON and the power given by the SPIRIT.
Also… make these videos free. You should not charge for an eternal gift that was freely given to us ALL.
These guys have never listened to Alan Watts, and it shows.
To me, maybe the same reasons I would personally brush off the Mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious)
Does not Jesus speaking in Thomas saying Heaven is not in the sky with the birds or in the ocean with the fish, but rather its everywhere and all around!
Explain "God Damnit!"
All of these people have missed the point and the meaning, incredible. All intellectual and zero spiritual discernment.
Prager is so gross
Christ tried to use the Greek Dionysian mythology as a perversion of the Greek mystery
Vervaeke and Prager should be replaced with Lennox and Brandt Pitre.
Having those two would be epic. Yet there is some benefit in having people doing the skeptic role to force the others to explain the concepts more thouroughly.
Both of them hog this discussion and talk slowly to come off as intelligent and wise.
